Hell, even Mali bus drivers would form a bond with me and would not charge me for a ride. Straight up great people, if you befriend them they will not abandon you. Maybe my knowledge of Islam played a part (I am a strict Catholic but I have deep respect for Islam and have read Holy Qur'an twice), and those guys were almost all very religious, but I never felt any disrespect due to my religion. You had the education and the institutions and rhe resources and the encouragement and the support and the inspiration and the opportunities and all these different pipelines that made it possible for you to be who you are and where you are.
Now remove just one of those, any one. Not having one of those things would be a huge disadvantage.
Your reality is not the same as another person’s. If you were in their shoes, you would not be you, you would be them. You would be just as they are. Do not judge them and don’t think you’re better than them.
