he has reached a pinnicle in his skills that he doesnt have to hoard spots... he knows he can track more fish down anytime, anywhere..
He doesn't need a hot spot. He can catch a crappie in a water puddle lol.

He’s so good he’s not concerned. Pull up on any of his spots and you most likely won’t catch a single fish.
Richard I am not sure if you have seen or heard of BFS Fishing but it’s something I’ve been doing a whole lot of mainly for Crappie. And I have a few of these baits coming in. And Richard you inviting those other folks in to fish with you and that other boat was great. I knew you were a great guy. But this just proved it.

Over the last 2 weekends I've caught 1 crappie. I tried everything I knew to try. I told my wife "if Richard Gene was here, he woulda done filled the cooler". Lol. I wish I had your knowledge. Thanks for another great video.

Richard Gene, you and my father must have been brothers of a sort. You are exactly like he was with us. I had 3 brothers growing up. Our dad was an avid outdoorsman just as you are. He taught us how to survive and best of all have fun doing it.
Could you tell us what the soft plastic is that you were using. Also links to what you’re using is a great help.
I was also waiting for the exact type of soft bait he was using, looked up chartreuse grubs and didn’t see anything close to what he showed here

Getting into those "schoolie" bass can be so much fun. I've been there. Most were a pound or even less but there were 2-pounders around. I pulled a 6-1 largemouth out of a school of them once. One of my biggest. We would catch those bass until our arms ached. lol
One of the first things I remember about you is you saying shellcracker and bluegill were your favorite eating fish and that made you and I brothers. There's other good fish but none beat them.

Beautiful little honey-hole you got there. I had NO idea these little chatterbaits existed....which is one of my main complaints with both Tackle Warehouse and BPS. Their search engines are awful, or I would've bought some of these by now. I almost always start with small baits like this, especially on lakes I don't know, because it tells me where the bait fish are, which is always a starting point (at least for me). So, that was worth watching the video in and of itself. I'd buy one even smaller if I could. GREAT post, thank you for sharing.

another great tip rg. just was at a small lake where something was hitting the surface and tossed beetle spin with 4 inch curly tail minnow grub. Big crappie smacked it hard and so much fun. could see this chatterbox doing similar if not better results. thanks so much!

I’ve been using those little boogers for years to catch crappie. It’s the only lure that will catch fish like live bait!

The Zman baby ballerz are great trailers for those as well. I have been using those with BFS gear for a few years now.
Weather looks nice there right now we have cold clouds and drizzle in Mesquite Tx I’ve only had one good day out on the water a few days ago but hopefully the sun comes back by The Weeknd
I like to use the 1/8 and put a tiny fluke on in the baitfish color and dye the tail with the dye dip like a yellow tail

Just wanted to say I’ve been using that same mini chatterbait for farm pond bass and white bass in the creeks during the spring run here in North Texas. Even caught a few the other day on it. I even stole your super glue trick to keep those elaztech soft platics on!

I like using a Berkley Gulp minnow on these lures. It catches everything and is also a decent trout lure.

I love catching crappie when the river is flooded and the rough currents. They will hit big ol fluke baits and hit like bass.
That small chatter bait will catch it’s fair share of nice bass while fishing crappie…best of both worlds in one bait!!!

I caught a big ole crappie one time on a normal sized chatter bait with a 5inch white paddle tail on. I was shocked to say the least.
I’m in middle Tennessee and everything is been so muddy I could have walked on my crappie holes I’ve not caught a crappie yet
Hey Richard, great video as always! I cannot find these in 1/16oz to save my life. Even went so far as to email Z-Man today asking if they plan to produce more anytime soon. There’s tons of 1/8oz available but everwhere I’ve looked says “Out of Stock” for 1/16. If anyone has any leads……I’m listening.
This is why i like crappie fishin more than bass fishin anymore. If a guy will acknowledge you, say hello, ask how youre doin and ask to share a spot, Im gonna accomodate them. Ill share when we all act like grown men and show some courtesy. Bass fishermen act like youre fishin their water and wont make much conversation if any before coming in on a bent pole patern.
Gotta pick me up a few of those.
