They said they will be secret games at the official Facebook club. And that the secret codes also will effect the secret games. You get the games by plugging 2 specific carts at in the same time.
This wasn't even on my radar. I heard about it, but didn't seem that great. Then I watched your videos and literally bought everything except for the handheld.
I have a handheld and all cartridges to date. Pre-ordered founders edition and can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm really having a good fun playing and collecting games on the Evercade.
I've brought into this in a big way, I've collected all they have to offer so far, just love it. It's a future classic in my opinion it's offering a tangible snapshot of retro gaming that in years to come can be revisited without any risk of servers being offline or buggy compatibility issues. It just makes sense.
Gotta say, I'm seriously considering one of these. It looks a whole hell of a lot better than the Amico for my money. I hope they do a cart or two of RPG collections.

Dude you got me sold on these! I thought it looked corny before but I have to say I’m impressed. To be able to get all of those old arcade games from those old school publishers is amazing. I think I’ll get my preorder in asap!
This thing isn't for me, but huge respect for the polish. I would definitely recommend this over just about every other option out there for casual retro gaming.
I'm uber excited for this console, the potential for this blowing up is there especially if they cater to indies real hard. Imagine if these upcoming "metroid-vania's" release for it like Gestalt, Bushiden, The Vagrant, The Last Faith, definitely an item to keep an eye on!!! 👍🏿👍🏿
Great review. Im really looking forward to my founders edition coming next month. The Gaelco cart won't be getting removed from the system, the games on that are quality, Biomechanical Toy being a favourite, in many cases these games are unreleased anywhere else. Next year we get the Renovation collection which is going to be unbelievable value given the high cost of the originals. I love what Evercade are doing and this is going to become a mainstay in my living room.
Pre-ordered founders edition, pretty excited for this thing. If they decide to make a "pro" version of the handheld would buy another one for sure. Fingers crossed they start making deals with Sega, Taito, Capcom, etc. I think the system has proven itself enough for these companies to know their IP will be safe and done right.
It was great to see how easy the remapping was! I previously ordered the Founders edition, and can't wait to unbox that! Although I also do hope they get the Namco carts sorted out!

Get the VS first.. if you then enjoy it, get the handheld and the fun continues wherever you go!.. by thw way, there will be a special edition handhelds coming out in December.. you might want to wait for that as well. Cheers!
I was thinking of getting a Evercade when I saw the Intellivison Collection. However I would like them to release more of volumes of that including the AD&D titles the plug & plays had them with altered titles due to licenses so that should not be a issue. A Colecovision/Adam Collection (especially the Adam release of Dragon's Lair) as well as a Epyx Collection (minus the sports title) would be nice as well.
SAME!!!! When they announced Intellivision is when I bit the bullet and purchased the handheld. Really do like it, have pretty much all the games to date. I posted on twitter at one point "looking forward to collection 2 of Intellivision" and Tallirico liked it and commented, so maybe we will actually see it?
I’m going off to college soon and I struggle a lot with ADHD and procrastination, so I plan on getting one of these to take with me so I can still play games in my free time but I don’t have the distraction of my Xbox. Loved the handheld too
This thing is so cool. Twice the cartridges twice the fun. Much better than what the Intellivision Amico is offering. I wish this is what the Amico became.
@@inputfunny The only one I know of is Earthworm Jim 4 but I doubt it will even be released for the Amico at this point. That was the only thing that interested me about the Amico from the beginning.
@@inputfunny Yeah, it's the only notable one though. And coupled with the fact the gameplay will be dumbed down (it's literally one of their mandates) and they have to sell it for under $10, there's no way it will live up to expectations even if it's actually released on Amico.
@@inputfunny Interesting. Tommy needs to backpedal on a LOT of things if he wants the Amico to be even remotely successful. Most of all, he needs to backpedal the price of the console down to around $100.

He got really popular with the ladies since he’s so good at Capcom 1942 games. He has the high score record and somehow all the supermodels want him. Rumor has it that he is having so much sex with supermodels that he lost 30 lbs.
*UPDATE: As of today the console completely failed on me. First the wifi all of a sudden stopped working and absolutely nothing would get it to detect any network whatsoever. Then about 2 hours later the console completely froze to a black screen and the power button wouldn’t do anything. Had to unplug it from the power source and even after resetting the console from the reset button on back it wouldn’t power back on again. Returning it back to Amazon and probably won’t exchange for a replacement because this experience left a bad taste in my mouth…
Had to preorder a standard VS and a Founders Ed... now I can't decide if I should open both, or keep the Founders Ed. sealed and just play the standard one!?!

I was waiting for this review.. Thank you! It seems great (I ordered the Founder Edition) and so far my only negative point is the bilinear filtering it uses: It would be great to have a filter to switch it on/off.
Somebody should build a proper arcade cabinet powered by Evercade VS and its cartridges. The hardware is ready, arcade stick could be plugged via USB, speakers and monitor via HDMI... all you need is a piece of cabinet/furniture to house all the stuff.

Have you had any problem with the 8bitdo Arcade Stick on the Evercade VS? My 8bitdo arcade stick works fine in the main menu, but as soon as I start a game, the game thinks I'm holding the stick up and to the left constantly, it even happens on the in-game-evercade menu where you can save/load and such. I just can't play any game with it. The 8bitdo Arcade Stick works just fine with the Nintendo Switch and on my PC as well, so I'm not sure what the problem is... :\ Other than that I just love the console, and all the game carts! I got my Evercade VS in part because of your review! :)
If they get some more popular publishers like Capcom and Konami id be all over this. If there's a possibility out there for moonwalker AVP or the simpsons to come back in this format. That would be a dream come true.
Definitely something I'm interested in picking up eventually. I definitely want to try out one of my Retro-Bit Sega Genesis controllers, since it only seems right to play the games that were originally released on the Genesis with that controller. My one gripe is that they don't include power bricks anymore. Yeah I get that you can connect this to a TV and/or that the bricks are superfluous these days, but if you get the wrong voltage you might not be giving it enough power, so it won't run, or you run the risk of frying it if there's too much power going into it. In a way it's kind of funny because this will end up being something like the sixth copy of Bad Dudes that I've picked up in the last few years because I bought it on the Switch, and I got the little MyArcade mini cab for an action figure display, and then it came packed in a few of the AtGames products I've picked up lately, and I'm sure they've snuck it onto other devices I've bought lately. It's literally everywhere these days.
The Evercade concept reminds me of the PS Vita, inevitably leading to the PSTV. The 8bit console ports were a big turn off for me, but the introduction of actual arcade ports is much more appealing.

If a company could transform these games into online multi player games as well as keeping their original form than they 'd be onto a future with retro gaming.
Can you tell us if you play Battle Lane Vol. 5, Mania Challenge or Minky Monkey from the Technos Arcade cart if the scanlines correctly orient to vertical instead of horizontal? Those 3 games are in TATE mode, so the original arcade machines would have had a CRT rotated 90 degrees and proper emulation would show the scanline feature vertically oriented with those games. for that matter, what about TATE games from the older carts? Do they show scanlines vertically?
How does the life system work? Is it just like in the past, as in when you use up your lives, the game is over, or do you get infinite continues and so on?
I am excited for this. Was disappointed to see it pushed back to after the new year. One of the use cases i had in my mind was using it on the at games legends ultimate arcade cabinet. I want to play some intellivision with arcade controls. Would be cool to see if the cabinet controls work on this the way it does for Retropie.
One of my biggest questions is Can you update the handheld via the console once you plug in a usb? I only have Apple laptops at home and the support for update runs with windows. So I can’t do any handheld updates. Preordered the founders edition, legit excited. 🤗
I wanna play games specifically for the system. They don't have to be exclusives but they have to be designed with the console in mind like the controller and whatnot. I think there were originals but I'd have to look them up
@Madlittlepixel Do you know if you can map the analog stick to the system and more importantly can you tell if it is really using analog or just basic up down left right? I ask this as some games like centipede, millipede were trackball games and used an analog controller. If this system can map to real analog then it would be easy for us to either hack a 360 analog stick to work with a trackball or spinner. Thank you!

I love how simple controller mapping seems to be. Looks like they really took the button mapping criticisms the handheld received to heart.

Looks like you unlocked a game with both Lynx carts in the VS…26 games appeared but the carts only have 25 combined.

I just got one on Amazon for $90, It’s the one with 2 carts and 2 controller’s. It’s a great little console!

Hey MLP, do the arcade games keep the high scores after quitting a game or powering off the console?
You can use save states to keep your high scores.
Looks like a brilliant device to just have there under your TV if you want a quick blast on something.

It's possible, they already work on PC's, PS3 and Android devices. They even work with Emuelec.

In a way it's kind of funny because this will end up being something like the sixth copy of Bad Dudes that I've picked up in the last few years because I bought it on the Switch, and I got the little MyArcade mini cab for an action figure display, and then it came packed in a few of the AtGames products I've picked up lately, and I'm sure they've snuck it onto other devices I've bought lately. It's literally everywhere these days.
I also really love the NES callback with the door and the front loading carts.

The Evercade concept reminds me of the PS Vita, inevitably leading to the PSTV. The 8bit console ports were a big turn off for me, but the introduction of actual arcade ports is much more appealing.

If a company could transform these games into online multi player games as well as keeping their original form than they 'd be onto a future with retro gaming.
Finally they added scanlines
Can you tell us if you play Battle Lane Vol. 5, Mania Challenge or Minky Monkey from the Technos Arcade cart if the scanlines correctly orient to vertical instead of horizontal? Those 3 games are in TATE mode, so the original arcade machines would have had a CRT rotated 90 degrees and proper emulation would show the scanline feature vertically oriented with those games. for that matter, what about TATE games from the older carts? Do they show scanlines vertically?

How does the life system work? Is it just like in the past, as in when you use up your lives, the game is over, or do you get infinite continues and so on?
I am excited for this. Was disappointed to see it pushed back to after the new year. One of the use cases i had in my mind was using it on the at games legends ultimate arcade cabinet. I want to play some intellivision with arcade controls. Would be cool to see if the cabinet controls work on this the way it does for Retropie.
One of my biggest questions is
Can you update the handheld via the console once you plug in a usb?
I only have Apple laptops at home and the support for update runs with windows.
So I can’t do any handheld updates.

I wanna play games specifically for the system. They don't have to be exclusives but they have to be designed with the console in mind like the controller and whatnot. I think there were originals but I'd have to look them up
@Madlittlepixel Do you know if you can map the analog stick to the system and more importantly can you tell if it is really using analog or just basic up down left right? I ask this as some games like centipede, millipede were trackball games and used an analog controller. If this system can map to real analog then it would be easy for us to either hack a 360 analog stick to work with a trackball or spinner.
