    I recently did a shoot just like this. I feel like the location is key to making steel wool photography look epic. You nailed that perfectly! Keep up the great work!

      Yeah I tried finding colors or places that match this type of photo. It looks rugged and industrial so that’s why I went for.
      Thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate that! 😊

    Mate that is very cool, what tripod you using in this shoot, I really have to give this a go lol

      Thanks Phil, glad you liked it! And thanks for tagging me on Instagram, that's very cool! loved the shot!
      Well for this shot I was using my extremely big and heavy old tripod which I wouldn't recommend to anybody just because of how big and bulky it is. Unless you plan to try this with a cinema rig then I have two other recommendations instead.
      amzn.to/3vHc167 - This is a lighter travel tripod from Sirui that is very similar to the one I use now, but mine is a bit older.
      amzn.to/3SmdxmN - This is what I would like to have myself now, a bit more expensive but still not too expensive. These are both travel tripods so they take less space when packing.
      The one I used in the video is amazing and sturdy, but I have ended up using it less and less because of it's size and only using it in extreme conditions or when I have filmed with a full camera rig which gets a bit top heavy. but most of the time I use my $250 travel tripod that is no longer in production. The tripod in this video cost about $500...
      Also, just want to point out that the links to amazon are affiliate, so if you use them I might get 2-4% commission on what you buy without it costing you extra. It's not a lot, but it helps me a bit :)
      Hope this helps and please feel free to ask any other questions! And tag me again if you go out shooting more of these photos! :D

    I heard just the opposite about the soap in the steel wool. Some say you end up with a Cleaner Shot ! 😂

      @PetterHetland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My main problem was igniting the one with soap in, maybe I should try again😅

    Dude I loved the video. It was informative, entertaining, suspenseful even. I thought the cops were gonna come out on the video telling you to move on....lol. If something like thst ever happens DO NOT cut it out of the video. Makes for more genuine content. All in all the video was EXCELLENT.

      Hahaha! If I ever get the cops on my ass I will continue filming, this time around it wasn’t the cops unfortunately 😅😅
      Thanks for the awesome feedback! Now I want to see you try this in Key West 😎💪

      @@PetterHetland I actually want to do it with someone on a dingy in the middle of the water so I can get the reflection on the water and make it double the epic factor. Water must be calm for it to come out how I want it to😊

    Being in a city, you are surrounded by a lot of light "pollution". My steel wool shots are always taken outside of the city limits, in complete darkness. This allows me to set my camera timer at 10 seconds to allow for any error in lighting the steel wool, and I set my exposure at 25-30 seconds allowing me to capture every spark. Once the fire burns out, the complete darkness does not affect the outcome of my compositon.

      Great tip! I wanted the city lights in these photos as I wanted an industrial feel to it and I wanted people to recognise the different spots. But I have tried it outside the city as well, got one with steel wool and northern lights, that was pretty cool, even though the northern lights weren’t so strong.

    How far should the camera be placed to catch everything in the frame???

    • @PetterHetland
      @PetterHetland  ปีที่แล้ว

      That all depends on how hard you spin it and how long the rope is, there is no given distance, and it will also depend on the lense you use. Try shooting wide angle and you’ll get more in view easier.
      Good luck out there!

    It's nice to see not everywhere is as insane with masks and covid stuff. I wish Nova Scotia would frigging chill. Hell, we're on lockdown.

    • @PetterHetland
      @PetterHetland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have been on lockdown as well, but walking outside has never required masks in Norway, unless in huge gatherings.
      I hope everything is getting better in Nova Scotia as well, we’re all tired of this stuff...

    • @morgancalvi6675
      @morgancalvi6675 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PetterHetland yeah, Nova Scotia is going to the extreme of refusing to give medical treatment to people because of 'COVID-19'. Then they say 'oh no surgeries or hospitalisation because we need the beds for COVID patients'....THEN they turn around and say 'we have no beds'...not 'we have beds, but they are put aside for COVID patients'...they literally are saying 'we have no beds'. I mean they can't even get their lies straight. To make this even more comical, if you have COVID, they refuse to treat you. What a stupid place. I seriously need a hip disarticulation and can almost guarantee a train engineer would have more skills than a doctor has because they haven't treated people in 2 years now. Until they see this is germ warfare...nothing will change. They scream and holler to get vaccinated. The strains out now won't even touch the strains that were covered in those vaccines..and people vaccinated STILL get it.
