    A controller like this, with a couple of expression pedals plugged into it would be a perfect solution to use an iPad as your main travel rig. I liked scenario two. No foot controllers was the big limitation of using a tablet as a guitar processor, but this would solve that and the Bluetooth connection is icing on the cake. Great review as always Leo! God bless and MIDI on 👍😎🎸

    Thank you Leo - what a useful device!!! I have been doing something similar for years with the guts of a USB joystick (with footswitches soldered to the joystick button points on the pcb, all in a metal enclosure) and STEIMs junXion. This is far more elegant!

      Hi, you are welcome!
      May I ask you if the device you have built was able to control directly the amp modeling pedalboard via USB? I mean without requiring the Host application that I have loved in the iPad....
      Thank you!!!

      @@LeoGibsonGtr Hi Leo. Thanks for taking the time to reply! Unfortunately no. The device was simply a USB Joystick with footswitches instead of buttons so it still showed up as a HID Gaming Device and needed a 'converter' host application to turn Joystick input to Midi (or OSC or whatever one wants). I think it could be done but with a Pi Zero to do that conversion. I had to use the junXion software to translate HID to Midi - but it was fun because it also accepts WiiMote input and outputs midi, so lots to explore :-)

    Thanks for the review. I'm currently controlling 4 MIDI devices (2 loopers & 2 amps) with the Ampero Control via a Raspberry Pi. The two drawbacks that I see for the Ampero Control are: 1) No option to display only the bank number instead of the last sent command. 2) I can't figure out how to change bank via an external footswitch (pressing 2 buttons at the same time on the pedalboard is tedious and due to issue #1, it can lead to a real mess...).

    I guess that because Bluetooth is used, you could not connect 2 or more Ampero Controls simultaneously. If so it's a pity: a block of 4 of them giving 16 footswitches would be super-powerful..

    I bought one and love it so far. Easily configured two switches to change presets on my Torpedo Captor X and Line 6 PowerCab+ from clean to dirty. Amazing. Another switch to start/stop recording in Reaper (MIDI over USB) - amazing. However I may have misunderstood one capability. I thought I would be able to direct connect via 1/4 cable to my footswitch jack on older Marshall DSL40c (no MIDI on older model) and toggle clean/dirty channels. But it seems that might not be possible directly, and would require something like Voodoo Control Switch or Suhr microMIDI. Have you tried this?

    hi , thanks for this review. I'm trying to directly connect Ampero control to a Zoom MS-60B via USB and it doesn't work. Looking for interface cable I found USB / Midi cables that have the USB-A one side and two DiN 5 pins the other side , ie the iN and OUT Midi. I assume the problem is with this cable interface, connecting the Ampero Control USB-B socket directly to the Zoom USB-mini B socket provides weird info to the pedal.

      @@LeoGibsonGtr Yes, I dig it further today, getting some clue from another video "USB & midi .... get it right".
      It deals about midi device & midi host, and it seems Ampero Control isn't a host but a device , like the pedal it cannot drive then.
      As you used the iPad as a midi host, I did the same with my MacBook Air installing MidiPipe (where I defined the Ampero as Midi In and the Zoom as Midi Out) and it WORKS NOW !!!
      In the video I refer, he also uses a piece of hardware he calls a "standelone midi host" for replacing the computer in middle, I hope I could find a small and cost effective one to add to my pedal board.

Ho appena acquistato un Amped 2 della blackstar purtroppo senza rendermi conto che senza un controller MIDI mi è praticamente impossibile switcher live tra due tipi di ampli differenti. Say you have an app on your iPad ( Bandhelper, that runs backing tracks and lyrics) that can send midi messages via bluetooth. @LeoGibsonGtr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gaetano, as far as I know it is not possible, as I said at 8:39 in the video.
      You need a chip that runs a software to translate the midi messages.
      Thank you for your question!

    • @dheranYT
      @dheranYT ปีที่แล้ว

      You can, but you need a device to make the translation. These devices are called "USB host". The iPad acts as one. You can use a PC, etc. There are little midi USB Hosts for sale. Check out the M-Vave Chocolate with its midi bluetooth accessory. It's dirt cheap and small. With that devices, you can control almost any Multifx with usb ports (it just have to be midi over usb capable... But it seems most of them are). This includes zoom units (ms series, g1 four series, g1on series), Valeton, Hotone, Nux...
      Check it out!
      Actually, having to use an iPad for this task is a bummer, in my opinion (bulky, delicate and expensive).

I don’t understand why it’s difficult to make Bluetooth in a processor with the ability to connect midi pedals, it’s so simple, or at least they made a midi mini jack. Looper with recording to a memory card. These are cheap items.

      Hi, I don't remember if the MG 300 manages Midi messages. You may want to check out the user manual. If someone knows, please drop here a message.

    I would like to use ampero control front stage and have it control my modeler (ampero 2) and have the modeler sit back near the amp or drum riser.
    Would this be possible using widi master or widi jack? I know this is off topic but just trying to get answers anywhere i can

      Hi, I think it's possible...I don't have widi, but I don't see reasons why it shouldn't work.

    Hola Leo, ojala me puedas ayudar... ¿Con el ampero control puedo tener el modo confirmación? Es decir, si estoy en el preset 1 y quiero pasar al 10, puedo cambiar hasta el 10 mientras se sigue escuchando el preset 1 y hasta confirmar cambie al 10... Sobre todo sirve para tocar en vivo.... ¿Se puede hacer eso ? Saludos

      @LeoGibsonGtr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HI, the GE 200 does not have physical midi ports....therefore the only way it could work is using midi via USB. I suggest you to ask Mooer if the GE 200 supports MIDI over USB (..as I'm not sure..) and if it does, to send you the MIDI mapping..

    Buttons are too close together, so its too easy to switch banks accidentally. They need to add the ability to lock out Bank changes.

    I have the iRig BlueBoard that does a similar job. I control JamUp Pro and Amplitube with it. To connect the Ampero or the MG30 seems to much work and too many devices to carry around.

      It is not easy, but at least we have a solution to expand pedalboards with just 3 foot switches and no midi.
