The unreleased, original version Michelle Branch and Santana's 2003 hit single "The Game Of Love". It was written (and here performed) by Gregg Alexander of New Radicals.
I always wonder what would have this song be if Gregg Alexander released the song for New Radicals or Santana where would this song be? I heard stuff that Game of Love was technically made in 1998-1999 and originally for a then rumored 2nd album for New Radicals. My take is that Michelle Branch would only be known for songs she own in the Spirit Room and Hotel Paper.
Gregg Alexander never left music.. He's continued to write a huge swatch of music for other artists and movies alike... He recently wrote most of the songs for a movie called Begin Again which has some top tier lyrics... love the movie, love the songs but the lyrics are meaningful and touching... worth checking out
I heard the main thing was he just hated touring and felt exhausted all the time which is understandable. Travel, interviews and shows can just zap the energy right out of you.
@ianchursky I don't mean this in a mean way, but he's probably also on the spectrum. If so that stuff might have been particularly overwhelming to him.
We know about BEGIN AGAIN. That's what's reawakening everyones interest. We want to SEE him now. He did some "promotional" things for Oscar Nominated song... but still... no Gregg.

Game of Love by Michelle Branch is one my favorite songs and thought, man this reminds me of the New Radicals. Then I wiki'd it and found out he wrote it! Talent shows!
And Michelle Branch herself has proven in the past 20 years in her solo songs had showed us that she is more than the girl behind the cover of an unreleased song.

My VERY FAVORITE GROUP!!! I love their music-- Such a GREAT SOUND!!!
New Radicals "maybe you've been brainwashed, too" album changed my life back in 1999. Didn't know Gregg Alexander wrote this!
Scott Saye mine too. Got me through the death of my mum.
now I know who wrote and sang this. keep the music coming Gregg Alexander. the best
2019, still love singing along with your awesome songs Greg.😄💚
...a terrific song by terrific song writers, Gregg Alexander and Rick Nowels. Got to love Greggs voice! Hard to believe Tina Turner and Macy Gray both record this one prior to the Michelle Branch/Carlos Santana version. Would have loved to hear all the various outtakes. Michelle deserves allot of credit for taking this one up the US pop chart, to number 5, in 2002.
An amazing writer and performer!
Heaven sent this song for humankind.
This guy has written two of my favorite songs.... with their similar tempo and gusto
