Thank you for this very informative video. It's nice to see how other growers take care of this species in their own environment. I live in southern CA and I grow my tetraspis plants indoor on a south-west facing window with no central heating. For those who worry about temp requirements for this species, I'd say give it a try, cause these orchid can get easily accustomed to cool night temp. During the winter, my windowsill is around 55F at night and 70F during the day. As long as there isn't too much humidity and you keep them on the dry side, they do perfectly fine, even without a heat mat. I already had mine for three winters and this is the fourth. They just slow down and enter what I'd call 'a dormant state'. They will start growing again in spring. Mine only get natural filtered light from the window (lots of it). No artificial lights. They are potted in a very airy bark/pumice/lava rock mix and I water them only when the roots are not only white, but also a little shrunk (about once every 7 to 10 days). I hope this can help those whose different growing conditions make them reluctant to adding a tetraspis to their collection. Happy growing 🙂!
Thank you for sharing your experience! This will certainly be helpful for folks with cooler indoor temps. Good to know it goes dormant, yet unharmed yet picks back up in the spring 🌼 Appreciate you watching!
Excellent care tips!! These phals are always so beautiful and you grow them so well!! Also love that wall of blooming orchids behind you!! It's simply stunning!!! 😍
Thank you for this! I have pale green tetraspis and she’s finally blooming now. (Indoors in Connecticut). You can never have too much good advice. I got her from Orchid Classics.
Nicole, you’re looking gorgeous in your lovely grow space! Thanks soooo much for this video, which I, along with others, requested. You’ve made culture look pretty easy so, I’m gonna try one once my purse recovers from the holidays lol. Hoping you, your mom, and all your loved one are having a lovely season.
I’m so happy you did this video. I have Phalaenopsis tetraspis Wilson #214”. It is growing on a heat mat. I never turn the mat off because my house is too cold. It does grow under grow lights. You did an awesome job in explaining how to grow them. I appreciate it as this orchid is pretty new to my collection. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
You are a marvel Nicole. I live in Montreal and just have a few ordinary orchids, which I am struggling to keep them blooming. I use gro lights which seems to do the trick, but even then…. God Bless.
This one is on my wish list. I love your new setup with all of your beauties behind you. Can they handle 95-115°F? Those are my typical outdoor temperatures in southern Arizona from April through the end of October.
I would listen to SVK - I have never grown much above 100, so coudn't say but if you can bring them in at the height of summer that is probably the best move.
4:30 Was that your cat or a fire truck in the background? 🤣 I'm still new to orchids but my new paph hybrids were $65 each from a local garden center. They are still both in double spike since early November.
Hi there! Great video. I have a question. Do you lose your phal roots after potting? It seems like no matter what i do, my phals are dumping their roots! It's so frustrating and demoralizing! As a matter of fact, that goes for about 85% of all of my orchids. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful orchids with us. GOALS!
@@anndriggers6660 I'm so sorry to hear that! My cattleyas dump roots sometimes, but the phals and many others don't always dump roots. I'd make sure they are in well draining mix and that you allow them to dry in the begging especially if you find they are dumping roots. I hope this helps!
Nice video! $80 for C#1? Good gravy! But then I caught you bought it at Sophie's. They are bit expensive on all their plants. I cant remember what i paid for mine. Its been so long ago. But mine was seedling. But it got so big! I was upset that it just withered away. Great tips on looking where a plant comes from. Sometimes its the simple tips that help the most and we tend to over look them. 😂
It's true sometimes its the simple things that help haha. I didn't realize this was such a hot grower, thank goodness its warm in my grow room right? Otherwise it'd have to live on a heat mat! $80 was madness, I bought it from a friend who was downsizing who got it from Sophies for that price.
I'm glad it was useful. That room is in the middle of my apartment and only has one window that's not drafty. The lights help for sure during the day - - and the apartment doesn't get colder than 65 at night generally because of the heat.

Ooh la la, Nicole put on some makeup and curled her hair. Gorgeous!😍
Aww, thank you
With all the color variations, you could easily have a giant collection of just this species! 🙌
Agreed! There are so many! Hopefully yours will bloom next spring!
@@NicoleDeanna I’d be pretty stoked if it did!

Aww, I'm so glad you enjoy those, especially the bellina. That fragrance is so lovely

Mine really went downhill this summer when temps went above 100. Gigabell, amboinensis, and lueddemanniana all did fine.

Nice spotlight Nicole! I killed mine, I think you are right, it needs a bit more warmth, luedemanniana and equestris both do a lot better for me
Thank you Justin. A heat mat will help a lot!

That was a truck, the window in this room doesn't even face the street, it's just that loud lol. I love how long paphs last in bloom!

Just last week I got my first tetraspis C1 so your video was very timely. How do you keep just one room in your apartment that warm?

Is this msu fertilizer the one made by Michigan State University. Do you find it a good fertilizer?
Yes, I like that one, it works well!
Hi Nicole, is it safe to ship orchid in such cold weather?
I probably would wait until spring or get it insulated with a heat pack.
👍😊💜🌸🙏🎄🎄🎅
