I'm 20 minutes in and had to stop to comment -- the look on your face, Dina, and when you exclaimed "double whammy!" regarding Pam's pampering schedule misfortune -- everyone needs that kind of friend 💗 Second: anybody who watches this podcast regularly knows how much you adore your family and cherish time spent with them -- don't for a minute think that is not evident -- you give and give and go and go -- it is understandable that you may not want to be 100% responsible for Mother's Day festivities -- that's not selfish, that's just needing a much-needed breather 💕

Dina gauge is the thing in knitting I stress about the most!! I’m a loose knitter so I’m always having to go down a needle size or two, but then sometimes I get worried about row gauge. I always remeasure after starting a project because sometimes if it’s a top down sweater I’m tighter in the beginning but then I loosed up. Ugh it’s a process!

Dina, sorry for all of your knitting woes! 🤦🏼‍♀ We have all been there! I do feel like Pam may be correct about your Garden Cardigan fitting after blocking. 🤞🏻 Nice catching up with you virtually. 💕 -Kate

I forgot to tell you Dina that we have the same color Yuma. I think I used Isaager. That light charcoal grey is so versatile.

Dina, It's refreshing to see you comment on your knitting mistakes. Ripping is part of knitting, for sure!! But, I think your Garden Cardigan is going to block out with all the lace. Good luck!

I'm here for all the KALs. Pretty sure I signed up for the majority of them. I think only moms can feel the guilt/ pressure to feel bad about needing time to relax. I think you're right- we plan all the things, entertain so much. I agree with what Pam said too- it gets more complicated as families get bigger. This year's mothers day was the first one I told my husband, don't plan anything- I just want to knit😀.. All the best! Kimberly

I have the opposite problem! I've ripped out the last 2 tops I made because they were huge! I take my measurements, make a gauge swatch, and still have to go down 1 or 2 needle sizes or make a smaller size. I'm an XL normally, but I've made 2 Mediums. 🤷‍♀

I use an iPad so I can just write on the pattern and take notes in Knit Companion.

I think I frog as many rows as I knit sometimes🤪. I had to redo the left side of garden cardigan because I was one stitch off on the pick up. I have the top Pam is wearing in time out. Thought I had enough yarn, but was going to be short one skein. Couldn’t get the color so I put it in time out. Been losing weight so now I’ll frog it back and make a smaller size. Win win for me! I love your classes. I’m an experienced knitter but my hardest thing is working through patterns. At times I just can’t get it straight. I’m dyslexic and thus a very visual learner. Both of you have really been wonderful teachers!! I really hope you do the Ring sweater as a KAL class! Been stash diving for the Jethro and I think I’ve found the yarn I need. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon!💗🧶🧶

Dina! I recognized the Yume before you even named it. I just so happen to be working a Guage swatch with The Farmer's Daughter Fibers Foxy lady in the colorway Many Moons. I tried casting on several times, but now I am encouraged to complete it after seeing yours ❤

The cardigan is gorgeous and I think when you finish and block, it will be perfect! But yes! I think people (me included) look at pattern specs and think about our bra size, not realizing that is your RIB CAGE, not the full bust! -thisnurseknits

Dina I could feel your disgust over your knitting projects not being quite right. It made me laugh out loud because right before turning on your podcast I frogged out a hat (Pam’s Cozy Bliss). I was right to the end and realized it was too tight on my head. Now you’d think I would have tried it on before that. But no! I seem to do a lot of that. And as far as picking garment sizes. I’m newer to sweater knitting and obviously I think I’m still the thin girl of my youth. You both always inspire me to press on though. The clothes you knit are just lovely and the pains you take to get it right teach me to keep trying. Thank you for sharing the successes and failures.

Oh Dina I think it’s the horrormones🤣🤣🤣 either that’s why you’re knitting garments two sizes too small, or perhaps you are knitting for your future granddaughter🥰🧶. I do have a license to practice medicine, but I probably should not be giving out diagnoses.👩‍⚕️🤣

Thanks for a lovely podcast. I found it especially nice that you, Dina, showed that your Garden cardigan is not fitting correctly. Even when you have knitted so many garments, sometimes it is just not what you expected. I am 71, but even I have still failures in my knitting now and then. 😊

Loved your comments on the podcast. As to your feelings about hosting Mother’s Day…..it’s OK to not to do it all the time. Your kids, at some time, will be doing their own and they need the “practice” to carry on the family tradition. As to knitting and frogging. It’s part of knitting and it happens. Example…did the Anker Summer Shirt,: gauge right on and thought the size correct, but somehow it was large for me. Couldn’t wip so gave it as a present to a friend who is loving it. And I thank you for your problem with the Sylphe…I have thought mine looked small until I stretched the knitted edge..it stretches.each yarn is different. You and Pam teach us so much. It doesn’t matter how good a knitter you are, you are always learning. Your KALS ARE SO HELPFUL that way with all kinds of tips. See you on Zoom.

when i worked as a housekeeper often we would help out when she hosted for holidays. she'd work with us during the set up, but she was free to be with her guests during serving and clean up. a couple of the guests would always come in the kitchen and thank us for helping out so they could enjoy the host's company. just a thought for when there are many guests

Thank you, ladies, for another wonderful podcast. I have been knitting since 1987 and sweater knitting has always been quite challenging. Your podcast came exactly at the right moment when I was pulling out my 3rd project which failed miserably. Hahaha . This week I just couldn't get anything right! With one project it was gauge, with another if was the wrong yarn for it and yet, another one I just couldn't get the stitch count. OMG, put everything away for a day, and went back to it and decided to pull the yarn on all and go for something totally different 😅. Good thing knitting can be restarted.

Would love aKAL for the Luminos Tee. I have tried to start two different tee patterns and because one that had errors in the pattern and the other one is so flipping confusing. I just stopped so if you’re gonna do it, I could use the instructions that’s for sure. 😊
