Great rendition! I'm trying to decide whether to buy the Godin 5th kingpin or the 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II HB (with humbucking pickups). I will use it mainly to sing Folk and play solos of blues and jazz/blues. I would appreciate very much if you tell me which guitar you would choose and why.
I love the Godin Kingpin I have, but buying the 5th avenue CW Kingpin II cutaway would make the guitar a little more diverse (having 2 pickups) as well as a cutaway so you can play a little higher on the neck. I believe they have a version with 2 hum buckers or 2 P 90s. I personally prefer P90s for the styles you mentioned (folk, blues, jazz) but I'm sure the hum buckers sound great as well.

It's a Bartolini 1TCA (Tuck Andress Model) pickup. I made the demo of my Kingpin before I swapped pickups just to show how good the original pickup sounds. I still chose to swap pickups though as I love Tuck's tone and wanted to see how close I could get to it.
Sure! It's a Bartolini 1TCA (Tuck Andress Model). While it is an amazing sounding pickup, it is not really meant to fit in this guitar. In order to get it to fit, my guitar tech had to combine two pickup rings as well as actually carve a hole in guitar so it could be low enough. For this reason I wouldn't necessarily recommend it in this guitar unless you're 100% sure you will want to keep it. I actually like the original pickup quite a lot in this guitar, but Tuck is one of my favorite guitar players, so always wanted to try this pickup in a Hollowbody guitar (he plays a L5).
Thank you for the videos. My brand new 5th Avenue is faulty, Godin reckon it's the pickup. They want to send me a replacement P90 to swap out myself. Is it tricky? I'm a fairly technically competent person, but never actually worked on a guitar before. Thanks.
If it's just a replacement pickup then yes, should be easy install. I had my guitar tech install the pickup on this video as it was pretty complicated to do so, since it didn't really fit the guitar. The stock pickup is really good sounding though and probably something you could install yourself as long as you can solder.
@@sheifiproductions gotcha. I was worried I might have to resolder the pots and jack. But in this case, can those be left alone and literally just change the connection to the pickup? Indeed it is a nice sounding pickup!
Great job! As much as I admire Tuck Andress, his playing can be a little sloppy. I guess that's why he calls it Reckless Precision. In your version, I can clearly here the expression in the notes.....
Thank you so much! I found it a fun challenge to try and imitate his version. He’s pretty fearless in his improvising which I really enjoy (even if not always perfectly clean). The way he does bass, chords, melody, and soloing all at once is incredible!
bravo!! i disagree metronome not needed ..subtle variations in time are as interesting as unexpected variations in pitch all part of the creative arsenal wielded by the best of musicians.. very nice thank-you
Thanks! For a lot of projects click/metronome is certainly preferable but I think for a lot of solo guitar stuff not having metronome on gives artist more freedom to truly improvise and keep it fresh.
