Honestly, I love how most people would go "Viking Tamm? That must be an Easter egg or something". Nope, actual Swedish person, helped train the Ethiopian Army and stayed around for the start of the Second Invasion. It's always nice when games remember that you have random Europeans all over the place training armies in the interwar period. Lot's of WW1 veterans around, not all of them could be in German Freikorps leading coups and what not.

You can do the crusader IV by going to do the focus: boarding by the train, and ask UK. Then you capitulate and Rush legitimacy as much as possible. When you reach 100 you can ask for jerusalem and they will give it to you most times
yeah and that 50/50 coin flip is not evenly distributed, its literally throwing dice and if youre unlucky you will end up with the UK saying no dozens of times, and with how PDX programs the game the coin flip is most likely already done at the start of the game and set in stone. Its just bad. There is too much RNG in decisions would should be influenced by your actions, its just big middle finger from them to the players
@kleinerprinz99 this is an old comment I know, but I figured I'd just share this information, most rng for events and decisions is loaded at the start of a new day. If you're able to reload and somehow push the trigger to a different day, you will have a different rng roll. Certain things (like improving relations) can (not will) change the roll mid day

I just completed this achievement, going to war with all allies and ending the achievements in >1950 lol I think the fully upgraded irregular infantry and Mass Assault is so, so powerful in Africa that it doesn't even compare to regular infantry (the problem with manpower can be solved forming Horn of Africa and Solomon Empire. Congrats, man!
A little thing I noticed here: Since you can't really push the south (Tanganyika or Tanzania) you could do the increase resistance there in advance to mess up their port with the Tanzania rebellion

Even though 67% is a lot and there the majority you forgot that Ethiopia has a large Muslim population islam is the second largest religion in Ethiopia. Ethiopia was the first state to accept Muslims and even let the companions of the prophet Muhammad stay there the Muslim percentage in Ethiopia is 31.1% which sounds small but it's a big percentage compared to the US and Europe Also you have to realize the Christians of Ethiopia aren't the only symbol of Ethiopia remember Ethiopia is a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country it's extremely diverse

Ok I didn't know you can just release them and then annex, thats really smart. I was going crazy because I thought I had to capitulate the entire allies by actually building a navy and airforce, it was not fun to say the least...
After 1500h in game I decided to do this as my first achievements run. Went well but spent 9 years at war and joined the Comintern cuz Italy glitched out and stayed at war after the peace treaty. Still a fun campaign though. Eventhough I didn't get the lion that roared cuz of the glitch.
There’s actually a considerably easier way to win as Ethiopia that no one is talking about. The Italians don’t move to annex Aussa until they’ve takes Macalle. A frontline (plus a fallback line on the tile behind macalle in order to allow battered units to regain their org before going back into a fight) along macalle and Gondar is amazing, and not hard to set up, and you don’t have to deal with an expanded front. Do the same thing in the south as in this vid, but try to hold macalle, it’s crazy
"try to hold macale" is not an easy strat. Yes, I can do it. But I'll never use it in a guide, because that's like saying "just don't suck". It's costly, stressful and difficult. Newer players have better options
@@Bitt3rSteel i suppose. It’s the easiest run I’ve ever done for Ethiopia, simply because having such a small front makes the north utterly trivial. And all you really have to do is immediately set the fallback line there.
I strongly recomend: As of now, DO NOT try to push Italy before late 1937. I tried to reconstruct what Bittersteel did here and got absolutely OBLITERATED in the South. I managed to capture all starting tiles in mid 38 but then got pushed back so hard that I quit before this could turn into a disaster save. Tldr: Dont push until you´re 100% sure the Italians are almost all dead. And the Lend-lease thingy doesnt work anymore, they now want 50% World Tension. (Probably why I could not push) And taking the Capital of Aussa quickly is not possible anymore as well because when they submit to the Italians, their Units flip to Italy now which means their Capital is now guarded by 2 fully equipped, fully orged Divisions.
Yeah, my strategy is, hang on to Macalle ONLY until you get complete the Hold the North quest (which takes about 90 days and raises War Escalation by one level). Then move the northern army closer to Addis Ababa so they can get supply. Same goes for the Southern Army and the Hold the South quest. After this, you'll get the Hold Addis Ababa quest, which will also raise War Escalation by one level. I managed to get the This Time For Africa achievement through some craziness: when I finally pushed Mussolini's forces out of Eritrea and Somalia and took the Fait Accompli focus, he refused to peace out, which resulted in War Escalation maxing out and Libya eventually rising up. I formed the African Union, got military authorization from the Allies (since we were both fighting the Axis), and dragged Vichy France and Nationalist Spain into the war when they refused to white peace with their newly-liberated colonies. The Spanish Civil War was STILL going on, which means Carlist Spain became part of the Allies. Good shit.

For example, if your general has 10 attack it gives you +50% attack but if your field marshal has 10 attack and if you use him as a field marshal your troop gets a +25% attack on top of whatever it gets from your general

Few comments to presented solution: 1. You don't need to rush to deploy Chitet Safari before Mehal Safari focus, you need to start producing them. 2. You may do also This time for Africa achievement in the same run if you take Towards African Unity focus instead of Salomon one. Crusader is given when you move capital to Jerusalem still being Aksum Imperium. If you take African Unity you should already have 5 countries as your subjects. For This time for Africa just try to take few countries from Portugal, Belgium and Free France by decisions. Eventually just conquer South Africa, you may release few countries from SA.

Nice guide but because of the lend lease mechanics changed I'll have a huge deficit. So in my games I use a frontline over the north and south sides and an extra frontline of 2-3 units on the province that has the hardest time, for example Aussa. This makes the microing a lot easier.
Nice tutorial I learned a lot about the game grinding generals is OP af even tho I can't receive land lease like in the video now I find out micro is better than using orders from battleplan also promoting generals when our generals suck

Dug into the northern front, my railway didnt connect cause of italian planes. Couldnt dig in enough with this. Germans not willing to give me guns even though i maxed relations twice. Worst thing suddenly i get a tooltip, "we dont know about any exports regarding infantry equipment" from tanna tuva and mongolia. So no more guns coming in, no supply coming in, and the Italians just keep getting in more units and guns. Yeah pretty salty. Guide is great, but i dont get paradox achievments being so RNG reliant to work. Love your guides Bittersteel keep at it if you can. I hope nxt time i get better RNG.
The latest updates make this no longer viable :( Italy gets free units from Aussa that start in the capital and you can no longer request arms from Mongolia or Tannu Tuva because they need World Tension which is tilted due to their ideology.

Any plans to go for the Red Sea achievement? I am struggling extremely hard with that one.
I just hit a personal Italy goal for my self by beating Ethiopia in a year I’m not to good at the game so this was big for me Edit yes I know this was probably the wrong video to say this in
Your next goal should be to defeat them in less than 70 days before they can do the focus boarding the train and allowing you to properly annex them without them becoming a government in exile. My advice is to send your entire army to Ethiopia, and use the mountaineers particularly in the north, they’re very effective there. Play at 4 speed and you’ll be good. All it takes is a little bit of practice and it makes you much better at micro in general.
I thought you meant you’d have a way to peace out the allies when you said without capitulation. I really don’t like dealing with infinite us naval invasions
no matter what I do, I can never push the italians out. Defending is easy enough, but once I need to counterattack the south, they start stacking divisions there and it makes things impossible to push after I take a few tiles.
This ethiopia is shit af even as liberia i can do more i destroyed every division on the South and then they naval invaded me with another fully equiped 10 divisions same on north 🤡

Every now and then the Italian AI goes super fucking aggro on you. Most of the time you tend to get lucky tho and Benito forgets how to move his units.
I'm down to 65 achievements left Decided to try for them all. I sorted all 65 by community achievement. This was #59. I spun a wheel, and this is what I'm gunning for now. Will watch this video in detail (Again) and hope I can pull off this achievement. Dreading the Germany 1939 one (At least with that one, if you fail, you get to restart quickly)
At lest for me, this way of getting the achievement does not work. 1. Italy instantly moves into Aussa with 2 units 2. World tension limit for lend lease Does anybody know how to solve these issues?
That's just the current version, you might be able to get the aussa units to leave the capital by attacking the tile behind from dessie (don't bother trying to hold that desert though) otherwise, keep two units in reserve in dawa and abbaba until you get enough military bonuses to push them out. Also take units offered cos they come with some guns, take scav focus and hope for good generals and build a mil in shewa. After develop focus you can get all three civs on the build once the finance minister is hired
I know this is a year old however I think that there was an update in HOI where I can not get guns from any country until world tension in 50% any advise bitter? And Merry christmas
i been trying for 3days, idk maybe 10 times, its not possible with AaT update, so i rolled back to 1.12.14 last by blood alone update, to gain access to lend lease.again i failed few times firstly: italy never stops attackin on both fronts secondly: even at half strength italian divs hold like crazy. thirdly: lend lease guns from mongolia and tuva insufficient. i barely hold current stock, they dont give no more than total 500guns. at best case scenario i had -6guns per day. with that defecit , attacking makes you melt slowly and u end up with like -6000 guns and stalemate, where in this video Bitter ends the war. fourthly : those events which giving either pp or mil is no more, completely removed. it didnt happen not even once in my dozens of attempts. fifth : assau's region dont have any mils anymore. tho still a good place for defense. sure, i can hold my ground indefinitely but once ww2 kicks, italy-ethiopia white peace happens, and erethia and somaliland is out of your reach. if you try to declare war on them then they join allies. idk what else to do at this point, either italy is stupidly strong or ethiopia very weak. and there s no way to rollback to originial 1.12.0 by blood alone patch. which i assume this video based on.
@@Cl-l13FI have the game updated (all the DLC bought minus the latest one) and managed to get the white peace by late 1938 (~November), the trickiest part was getting the south right, it took me ~5 attempts but I managed to fully kicked them out (in attempt 3 I managed to kick them out but I didn't leave any division in the ports and you can imagine what happened) - after that the north was very easy If you want to have it as reference, the Italians had taken ~150k casualties by the time I started pushing in the south - by the time I started in the north they had wasted like ~15 divisions in naval invasion, so pushing through the north was quite trivial (and just as a side note, I was just reaching level of scalation 9 and the Italians had 450k casualties by the time the white peace fired)
@@smcilia How you can get around it is do a fallback line in the middle 1 tile up and pin the 3 Aussa tiles then last stand the tile above Aussa to encircle and kill that tile.
I had the same issue rip. Nobody in my market is providing guns either, maybe there is a way to use that feature to obtain your guns but otherwise things are going to be very slow going.
Just been playing this for said achievement, got everything i needed but moved my capital before doing taking Jerusalem, so i have to do it all over again. playing non historical as well for more pain, first time it helped. this time it's fairly historical. I couldnt push back the Italians until war exoculated to lv 9 for the bonuses and had to stop 2 Italians naval invasions, Italy just joined the axis as i got my white peace and i have need to get 13.5k guns for my army. Then planning to try the communest for the acheivement after this run. Why am i doing this to myself?
@@swetrowiec I don't have the last 2 dlcs. So I can't buy guns with civs. Im planning to do the industrial focuses before proceeding to take Yemen. Then see what is happening in WW2 and pick whatever side so I can take Jerusalem with.
With AAT out I wonder, is that strategy still viable of begging for guns off of the tannu tuvans or is buying stuff off the market the better option now
I managed to kick Italy out of Africa without the DLC (so no market) and as I was playing the most recent version, no Tannu Tuva lend lease - it is more difficult than before but it is still doable (for reference, it took me until November of 1938 to kick them and for the white peace to fire)
I played it yesterday and they had units on Aussa's capital but eventually after a while I realized they pulled off everything but one cavalry unit and managed to take it. I didn't have a great time in that game though I ended up being too brash and wasting a lot of my equipment on attacking and ended up losing Aussa again. Eventually the people's war modifier was hit then Somalia and Eritrea revolted and WW2 struck basically despite my victory I was in a very poor position to continue the game @@JULIAN11.
This one is giving me a hard time. It almost feels like there have been a few balance changes since this video was made, because I simply can't get things to go the same way. My southern general, after doing the same thing and holding the same line, is only level 3 when yours is 5, and nowhere near infantry expert despite fighting constantly the entire time. In every attempt, Italy also sends 4-6 more divisions to the south than in the video. I'm not able to push the southern front anywhere near as early, which puts my run behind by a significant amount. As a result, everything after the war is either screwy or excessively difficult. I figured I could work around it, so I kept going. British Somaliland joins the allies (??!?) when it revolts, and the influx of allied troops steamrolls Djibouti. Although I still get the option to integrate Somaliland, they tell me to go to hell, so I'm not able to grab it without declaring on the allies. I figured I could work around it, so I kept going. Yemen is where the run died. At this point I was about a full year behind, and they just had too many divisions. My Sana'a attack was beaten back too quickly for the southern tile to land before reinforcements arrived from the north. I tried a few different methods before throwing in the towel. Honestly, the Axis was doing too terribly for the war to be viable anyway. The African front had fallen to the allies by 1940, and by 1942 Rome had fallen and the Eastern Front was pushed as back past Warsaw. All the tiles around me were lousy with American and other Allied troops. On to attempt number 4, as my sanity rapidly deteriorates.
I hear you! I’m on my 4th attempt too. My first attempt actually went reasonably well. I got the encirclement and took the ports in the South without too much difficulty. I then sent most of the Southern army up North to support in the attack there, leaving a small force to finish mopping up the remnants of the Italian divisions. However while that was going on I was Naval invaded in the South. I forgot to guard the ports! Mad rush back down South, but I ended up having to hold them there and eventually use the Northern Army to come and push them out after I’d taken the North. That all delayed me, and I’m not sure if I made some other timing mistake later on, but I didn’t get resistance high enough in Djibouti to send the guns before France capitulated. Then the option disappeared. So I restarted. On my last run I really struggled in the South, but eventually, a long time later pushed the Italians out. However by then Northern offensive had run out and I’d made very little territorial gain and failed to take Asmara. The Italians ended up pushing me back! They seemed considerably tougher that run despite me having the generals levelled up, and all the offensive bonuses etc. I’ve not had the same issues with levelling up the generals. I have noticed that if you put too many divisions on that Southern border then the Italians stop attacking and then that Southern General doesn’t level up. Rewatching Bittersteels video, I notice that he only had 10 divisions on the southern front. Maybe this means the AI sent less troops down South. He attacked before all the Chitet Sefari had been deployed whereas I had been waiting until they were all there first, and this last run waited for the Renewed Offensive focus to finish before attacking thinking that might help. So I’m going to try going earlier and with fewer troops active on the border this next run.
@@MrVineEye I got the achievement last night, on my 5th attempt. Honestly, it didn't feel like I did too much differently; what made the difference was how many troops the Italians had in the south, as well as the state of the Axis in 1942. My southern general got adaptable and infantry expert crazy early, without me changing anything down there. No idea. Made the southern offensive an absolute breeze though. Once Yemen was taken care of, the rest of the run was super trivial. The Allies just don't have any troops with functional org levels down there. They might have been able to hold Cairo and the Suez for a while, had I not already encircled and destroyed 90% of their army on my way up there. I took Oman and Saudi Arabia while I waited for Palestine to comply, then gave them all my convoys to annex them. I wonder how long it would take to flip Communist for the Red Sea achievement now...
@@danrobidoux Cool, well done. My new run is going much better too. I deployed less troops to the southern front and they also had less troops in the South. Pushed through relatively easily to the ports. North nearly finished off now too and I’m relatively early in the Focus tree.
@@danrobidoux So did you get the Crusader Kings IV achievement? Mine run went really well, took most of Africa and Palestine, formed the Empire of Solomon. However Palestine (the nation) isn't in my list of occupied territories, so I can't build up collaboration as shown in the video. Gah! I realise what I've done now. I did the Solomon Empire decision too soon. I needed to do it AFTER messing about with Palestine. I've cored it so no collaboration. Dang!
You can do similar balkanize as communist if you go full anarchist balance of power with lower than 40 stability. Then do horn of africa focus to reintegrate.
@@tomi19981998 As I said above its based on the balance of power bar you get anarchist vs communist. The max anarchist section says your country will break apart with less than some amount of communist support or low stability. After you get max left section on bar with condutions met, an event will fire asking if want to fight all the broken up countries or let them be independent. Let them be independent and then reform country with horn of Africa focus
I don’t know how you’re able to defeat Italy because every time I try my units suck and can’t break through their line when you start to push south. I’m on my third attempt and just cannot keep enough strength or org to beat them. I’m so stuck. It’s easy to defend against them but they just keep throwing themselves into me where I can’t get an org and it’s so frustrating

Thanks for the guide! Playing as Ethiopia honestly feels so underwhelming, they have so much potential to be OP but every goddamn time I just get stuck on the Horn of Africa defending from the endless waves of Allied forces while having at most 20 factories :(

Ok I didn't know you can just release them and then annex, thats really smart. I was going crazy because I thought I had to capitulate the entire allies by actually building a navy and airforce, it was not fun to say the least...
After 1500h in game I decided to do this as my first achievements run. Went well but spent 9 years at war and joined the Comintern cuz Italy glitched out and stayed at war after the peace treaty.
Still a fun campaign though. Eventhough I didn't get the lion that roared cuz of the glitch.
There’s actually a considerably easier way to win as Ethiopia that no one is talking about. The Italians don’t move to annex Aussa until they’ve takes Macalle. A frontline (plus a fallback line on the tile behind macalle in order to allow battered units to regain their org before going back into a fight) along macalle and Gondar is amazing, and not hard to set up, and you don’t have to deal with an expanded front. Do the same thing in the south as in this vid, but try to hold macalle, it’s crazy

Yes, I can do it. But I'll never use it in a guide, because that's like saying "just don't suck". It's costly, stressful and difficult. Newer players have better options
@@Bitt3rSteel i suppose. It’s the easiest run I’ve ever done for Ethiopia, simply because having such a small front makes the north utterly trivial. And all you really have to do is immediately set the fallback line there.

I strongly recomend: As of now, DO NOT try to push Italy before late 1937. I tried to reconstruct what Bittersteel did here and got absolutely OBLITERATED in the South. I managed to capture all starting tiles in mid 38 but then got pushed back so hard that I quit before this could turn into a disaster save.
Tldr: Dont push until you´re 100% sure the Italians are almost all dead.
And the Lend-lease thingy doesnt work anymore, they now want 50% World Tension. (Probably why I could not push)
And taking the Capital of Aussa quickly is not possible anymore as well because when they submit to the Italians, their Units flip to Italy now which means their Capital is now guarded by 2 fully equipped, fully orged Divisions.
Yeah, my strategy is, hang on to Macalle ONLY until you get complete the Hold the North quest (which takes about 90 days and raises War Escalation by one level). Then move the northern army closer to Addis Ababa so they can get supply. Same goes for the Southern Army and the Hold the South quest. After this, you'll get the Hold Addis Ababa quest, which will also raise War Escalation by one level.
I managed to get the This Time For Africa achievement through some craziness: when I finally pushed Mussolini's forces out of Eritrea and Somalia and took the Fait Accompli focus, he refused to peace out, which resulted in War Escalation maxing out and Libya eventually rising up. I formed the African Union, got military authorization from the Allies (since we were both fighting the Axis), and dragged Vichy France and Nationalist Spain into the war when they refused to white peace with their newly-liberated colonies. The Spanish Civil War was STILL going on, which means Carlist Spain became part of the Allies. Good shit.

13:28 NO! Giving him offensive doctrine actually improves his attack by one as you can see in the video. Also always promote your generals to Field Marshal because you get +1 trait slot when you do and there's no downside!

For example, if your general has 10 attack it gives you +50% attack but if your field marshal has 10 attack and if you use him as a field marshal your troop gets a +25% attack on top of whatever it gets from your general
I wish this game-- or at least, a mod-- gave you the option to control which focus your puppets take. It would make strengthening Ethiopia a hell of a lot less random.
that would be extremely annoying if you were playing as a puppet, so there's a reason it's not in the game.

Few comments to presented solution:
1. You don't need to rush to deploy Chitet Safari before Mehal Safari focus, you need to start producing them.
2. You may do also This time for Africa achievement in the same run if you take Towards African Unity focus instead of Salomon one. Crusader is given when you move capital to Jerusalem still being Aksum Imperium. If you take African Unity you should already have 5 countries as your subjects. For This time for Africa just try to take few countries from Portugal, Belgium and Free France by decisions. Eventually just conquer South Africa, you may release few countries from SA.

Nice guide but because of the lend lease mechanics changed I'll have a huge deficit. So in my games I use a frontline over the north and south sides and an extra frontline of 2-3 units on the province that has the hardest time, for example Aussa. This makes the microing a lot easier.
Finally achieved this ..in 1945! It was touch and go..now going to try get This Time for Africa..Thanks Bitter.

Dug into the northern front, my railway didnt connect cause of italian planes. Couldnt dig in enough with this. Germans not willing to give me guns even though i maxed relations twice. Worst thing suddenly i get a tooltip, "we dont know about any exports regarding infantry equipment" from tanna tuva and mongolia. So no more guns coming in, no supply coming in, and the Italians just keep getting in more units and guns. Yeah pretty salty. Guide is great, but i dont get paradox achievments being so RNG reliant to work. Love your guides Bittersteel keep at it if you can. I hope nxt time i get better RNG.
The latest updates make this no longer viable :( Italy gets free units from Aussa that start in the capital and you can no longer request arms from Mongolia or Tannu Tuva because they need World Tension which is tilted due to their ideology.
Any plans to go for the Red Sea achievement? I am struggling extremely hard with that one.
I just hit a personal Italy goal for my self by beating Ethiopia in a year I’m not to good at the game so this was big for me

Your next goal should be to defeat them in less than 70 days before they can do the focus boarding the train and allowing you to properly annex them without them becoming a government in exile. My advice is to send your entire army to Ethiopia, and use the mountaineers particularly in the north, they’re very effective there. Play at 4 speed and you’ll be good. All it takes is a little bit of practice and it makes you much better at micro in general.

Can you try re-doing these achievements? Because I feel like Italy got a buff in Ethiopia
no matter what I do, I can never push the italians out. Defending is easy enough, but once I need to counterattack the south, they start stacking divisions there and it makes things impossible to push after I take a few tiles.
This ethiopia is shit af even as liberia i can do more i destroyed every division on the South and then they naval invaded me with another fully equiped 10 divisions same on north 🤡
Every now and then the Italian AI goes super fucking aggro on you. Most of the time you tend to get lucky tho and Benito forgets how to move his units.

That's just the current version, you might be able to get the aussa units to leave the capital by attacking the tile behind from dessie (don't bother trying to hold that desert though) otherwise, keep two units in reserve in dawa and abbaba until you get enough military bonuses to push them out. Also take units offered cos they come with some guns, take scav focus and hope for good generals and build a mil in shewa. After develop focus you can get all three civs on the build once the finance minister is hired

I know this is a year old however I think that there was an update in HOI where I can not get guns from any country until world tension in 50% any advise bitter? And Merry christmas
i been trying for 3days, idk maybe 10 times, its not possible with AaT update, so i rolled back to 1.12.14 last by blood alone update, to gain access to lend lease.again i failed few times
firstly: italy never stops attackin on both fronts
secondly: even at half strength italian divs hold like crazy.
thirdly: lend lease guns from mongolia and tuva insufficient. i barely hold current stock, they dont give no more than total 500guns. at best case scenario i had -6guns per day. with that defecit , attacking makes you melt slowly and u end up with like -6000 guns and stalemate, where in this video Bitter ends the war.
fourthly : those events which giving either pp or mil is no more, completely removed. it didnt happen not even once in my dozens of attempts.
fifth : assau's region dont have any mils anymore. tho still a good place for defense.
sure, i can hold my ground indefinitely but once ww2 kicks, italy-ethiopia white peace happens, and erethia and somaliland is out of your reach. if you try to declare war on them then they join allies.
idk what else to do at this point, either italy is stupidly strong or ethiopia very weak.
and there s no way to rollback to originial 1.12.0 by blood alone patch. which i assume this video based on.
@@Cl-l13FI have the game updated (all the DLC bought minus the latest one) and managed to get the white peace by late 1938 (~November), the trickiest part was getting the south right, it took me ~5 attempts but I managed to fully kicked them out (in attempt 3 I managed to kick them out but I didn't leave any division in the ports and you can imagine what happened) - after that the north was very easy
If you want to have it as reference, the Italians had taken ~150k casualties by the time I started pushing in the south - by the time I started in the north they had wasted like ~15 divisions in naval invasion, so pushing through the north was quite trivial
(and just as a side note, I was just reaching level of scalation 9 and the Italians had 450k casualties by the time the white peace fired)
in my games tanna tuva only gives me 20 weapons and mongolia never accepts

@@smcilia How you can get around it is do a fallback line in the middle 1 tile up and pin the 3 Aussa tiles then last stand the tile above Aussa to encircle and kill that tile.

I had the same issue rip. Nobody in my market is providing guns either, maybe there is a way to use that feature to obtain your guns but otherwise things are going to be very slow going.

Just been playing this for said achievement, got everything i needed but moved my capital before doing taking Jerusalem, so i have to do it all over again. playing non historical as well for more pain, first time it helped. this time it's fairly historical. I couldnt push back the Italians until war exoculated to lv 9 for the bonuses and had to stop 2 Italians naval invasions, Italy just joined the axis as i got my white peace and i have need to get 13.5k guns for my army. Then planning to try the communest for the acheivement after this run. Why am i doing this to myself?

I managed to kick Italy out of Africa without the DLC (so no market) and as I was playing the most recent version, no Tannu Tuva lend lease - it is more difficult than before but it is still doable (for reference, it took me until November of 1938 to kick them and for the white peace to fire)
I believe at some point they made it so Aussa's units are transferred to Italy making you unable to take the military factory there either@@JULIAN11.
I played it yesterday and they had units on Aussa's capital but eventually after a while I realized they pulled off everything but one cavalry unit and managed to take it. I didn't have a great time in that game though I ended up being too brash and wasting a lot of my equipment on attacking and ended up losing Aussa again. Eventually the people's war modifier was hit then Somalia and Eritrea revolted and WW2 struck basically despite my victory I was in a very poor position to continue the game @@JULIAN11.
This one is giving me a hard time. It almost feels like there have been a few balance changes since this video was made, because I simply can't get things to go the same way.
My southern general, after doing the same thing and holding the same line, is only level 3 when yours is 5, and nowhere near infantry expert despite fighting constantly the entire time. In every attempt, Italy also sends 4-6 more divisions to the south than in the video. I'm not able to push the southern front anywhere near as early, which puts my run behind by a significant amount. As a result, everything after the war is either screwy or excessively difficult. I figured I could work around it, so I kept going.
British Somaliland joins the allies (??!?) when it revolts, and the influx of allied troops steamrolls Djibouti. Although I still get the option to integrate Somaliland, they tell me to go to hell, so I'm not able to grab it without declaring on the allies. I figured I could work around it, so I kept going.
Yemen is where the run died. At this point I was about a full year behind, and they just had too many divisions. My Sana'a attack was beaten back too quickly for the southern tile to land before reinforcements arrived from the north. I tried a few different methods before throwing in the towel. Honestly, the Axis was doing too terribly for the war to be viable anyway. The African front had fallen to the allies by 1940, and by 1942 Rome had fallen and the Eastern Front was pushed as back past Warsaw. All the tiles around me were lousy with American and other Allied troops.
On to attempt number 4, as my sanity rapidly deteriorates.
I hear you! I’m on my 4th attempt too. My first attempt actually went reasonably well. I got the encirclement and took the ports in the South without too much difficulty. I then sent most of the Southern army up North to support in the attack there, leaving a small force to finish mopping up the remnants of the Italian divisions. However while that was going on I was Naval invaded in the South. I forgot to guard the ports!
Mad rush back down South, but I ended up having to hold them there and eventually use the Northern Army to come and push them out after I’d taken the North.
That all delayed me, and I’m not sure if I made some other timing mistake later on, but I didn’t get resistance high enough in Djibouti to send the guns before France capitulated. Then the option disappeared. So I restarted.
On my last run I really struggled in the South, but eventually, a long time later pushed the Italians out. However by then Northern offensive had run out and I’d made very little territorial gain and failed to take Asmara. The Italians ended up pushing me back!
They seemed considerably tougher that run despite me having the generals levelled up, and all the offensive bonuses etc.
I’ve not had the same issues with levelling up the generals. I have noticed that if you put too many divisions on that Southern border then the Italians stop attacking and then that Southern General doesn’t level up.
Rewatching Bittersteels video, I notice that he only had 10 divisions on the southern front. Maybe this means the AI sent less troops down South. He attacked before all the Chitet Sefari had been deployed whereas I had been waiting until they were all there first, and this last run waited for the Renewed Offensive focus to finish before attacking thinking that might help.
So I’m going to try going earlier and with fewer troops active on the border this next run.
Correction he only had 8 divisions on the border at the time he started attacking, and had kept all the deployed Chitet divisions at Addis Ababa.
@@MrVineEye I got the achievement last night, on my 5th attempt. Honestly, it didn't feel like I did too much differently; what made the difference was how many troops the Italians had in the south, as well as the state of the Axis in 1942.
My southern general got adaptable and infantry expert crazy early, without me changing anything down there. No idea. Made the southern offensive an absolute breeze though.
Once Yemen was taken care of, the rest of the run was super trivial. The Allies just don't have any troops with functional org levels down there. They might have been able to hold Cairo and the Suez for a while, had I not already encircled and destroyed 90% of their army on my way up there.
I took Oman and Saudi Arabia while I waited for Palestine to comply, then gave them all my convoys to annex them. I wonder how long it would take to flip Communist for the Red Sea achievement now...
@@danrobidoux Cool, well done. My new run is going much better too. I deployed less troops to the southern front and they also had less troops in the South. Pushed through relatively easily to the ports. North nearly finished off now too and I’m relatively early in the Focus tree.

However Palestine (the nation) isn't in my list of occupied territories, so I can't build up collaboration as shown in the video.

You can do similar balkanize as communist if you go full anarchist balance of power with lower than 40 stability. Then do horn of africa focus to reintegrate.

@@tomi19981998 As I said above its based on the balance of power bar you get anarchist vs communist. The max anarchist section says your country will break apart with less than some amount of communist support or low stability. After you get max left section on bar with condutions met, an event will fire asking if want to fight all the broken up countries or let them be independent.
Let them be independent and then reform country with horn of Africa focus

I don’t know how you’re able to defeat Italy because every time I try my units suck and can’t break through their line when you start to push south. I’m on my third attempt and just cannot keep enough strength or org to beat them. I’m so stuck. It’s easy to defend against them but they just keep throwing themselves into me where I can’t get an org and it’s so frustrating

@@Joinedo yes but as you can see he survived just fine, so might as well grind XP for other traits. (also Terrain traits are more needed for attack rather than defence anyway)
you know i thought of something, as Germany you appoint Himmler in the political minister right and decisions will come about SS recruitment, why not rework that into the Balance of Power mechanics between the German Wehrmacht and the SS?
I also think a balance of power should be implemented in several other countries. I think that could replace the congress system for the US
