My first Fare Drop video after watching K&N for years, and I’m already hooked. My Mom and I took my two kids to Iceland a year ago and it was SUCH an incredible trip that we’re all dying to go back. But what really clinched me as a repeat watcher is Tony’s Ravens hat and Marylander nod - I’ve lived in MD my entire life! Love to see a hometown guy exploring the world.
This is by far my most favourite video of you two. You seemed in your element, little stress and being silly with each other. Thank you for sharing the beautiful views.
Y’know, Iceland has never “called” to me…. But you guys might be changing my mind. I do love puffins! Great job, and can’t wait for part two. Thanks guys!
I love that you guys show the cost of everything. I even like seeing how much you guys spent on coffee and bagels…it kinda helps with figuring out how expensive a place is! Thanks for the Video! 🩷
@@faredrop I can’t wait for part 2! My visit was with a tour group of the West side. I keep saying that next time will be in an RV. It’s a perfect RV expedition destination!
Been loving all your videos. Places you are traveling to are amazing. Heading to Colombia Next month. Going to have to add Iceland to the List. What month did you go?
We just went to Iceland for two weeks back in June and it tickled me to see that you stumbled across the same waterfall we did on our way up the east coast! So many spots to stop at just on the side of the road.
That's so funny because it was such a random find for us. Lol, so many spots. Next time, we want to get an off-road vehicle to travel some of the F roads.
So beautiful. Those waterfalls must be absolutely breathtaking in person. Ty for braving the cold as well in the dead of summer here in the states. @@faredrop..looking forward to part 2❤❤❤❤😘✌️🌹
I live in Iceland thought this was a fun video! The ring road is amazing and perfect for first timers, but the real magic of Iceland is when you get into the highlands or some other hikes. Come back for those next time and let me know if you want recommendations :) One note - im surprised you didn´t mention a correction that Kvernufoss is not 1.5 miles...its like a 10 min walk haha. And Vík is pronounced "veek"! Looking forward to part 2
haha I thought we did. Must have missed that in the edit. I was going to do a graphic about it. We totally joked about it too. We have part 2 video coming out, but we'll gladly take recommendations. We want to come back and explore some of the F roads
Thanks for the video! You guys seem great! What was the name of the place/ hike you did with the weird gate? I'd love to put it on my list for my upcoming trip!
LOVE your videos!!! But HEY YOU MISSED THE SECRET WATERFALL at Seljalandsfoss!! You walk a bit further down the path away from the parking lot along the stream, and there is a hidden waterfall in a sort of tall grotto, it is pure magic! Edit to say I finally joined faredrop pro, looking forward to it!
That's a good point, but I think we were so hungry, and it started raining at that point that we just decided to push on. In retrospect, it probably shouldn't have mattered that it was raining since we were already soaked, but we just wanted to dry off 😅
I was in Iceland for 2 1/2 days as a short stopover on returning from a 1-way cruise. Hence I saw just enough to know I have to come back and do what you are doing.
@@faredrop Your video and trip thus far are amazing. What surprises me the most is the quality of that highway you travel on, the Ring Road. Looking forward to the next part of your Iceland trip.
I really feel like the more I do stuff to face my fear the more I get used to it. That platform was a little scary but eventually I was able to tell myself you've done way worse 😅
When did you guys film this? I know Iceland had some volcanic eruptions earlier this year and I was wondering if it’s good to visit yet. Looks beautiful!
Yeah, they had another eruption in March. We were here mid/late July. Since then, roads and highway exits that led to the town have been closed off. The rest of the roads are open though
Um excuse me?! School bus coffee?! That place looks so cute and delicious! Omg that fish in the fish n chips was THICC. That looked delicious! AAHHAHA the bloops 😆 Im ready for part 2! Saw some Blue Lagoon so I am glad they are still open with the whole eruption situation :(
Haha it was a clever and cute coffee shop. Not sure it was impacted. The roads leading to the town were closed off but all the roads leading to the lagoon were fine. I just hope the town can recover. I've read they should able to rebuild and continue on, but there won't be much tourism running through there for quite some time. 😟
Called the Hollyland Lark M2. We used to have the DJI and the Rode wireless mics, but these are the best. Sound is solid, and it doesn't stick out as bad.The only downside is itdoesn'tt record internally, and there's more wind noise than with the shotgun mic we usually use
It was so hard. Went and watched videos and everything. The struggle is that they have their own letters of the alphabet, so you have to remember what they sound like as well. Lol 😅
Should drop tomorrow 😉 The one I think you're referring about with the lookout point is called Sveinsstekksfoss. But Skogafoss in the south near Vik is a short walk too
I'm gonna just get right to the TMI question: when camping in the van, did you have a porta potty? Or were there facilities at the campgrounds? What about showers?
To bag we can't enter from Sweden. ;-) I mean I see my self as a winnwe and back in Iceland. Got home 2 weeks ago after a 13day long trip with my 22y old son. Watching your video makes me "home sick". it was 27 years between my 2nd and 3rd trip. OMG I really do hope I get to go there again. But if my timeline is what it's been... at 80, well probably isn't likely. 🤪 So about me being a winner.... well lets pretend I'm American... and draw my name. 😛😀 Thanks for showing me my dreams...
The van cost extrapolated over the length of your trip is less than decent hotel rooms and you get to camp with all those awesome views! Plus you'd have needed a rental car anyway so figure a 1/3rd of the van cost at minimum for a car? So in reality the van saved you a fair drop of money. Ha see what I did there......
None of the national parks. And some of the waterfalls. They'll have signs posted if you can't fly at the waterfall, but if your drone has a zoom lens then you can still get nice waterfall shoots outside of the property, or a 360 camera with a long extension stick. But honestly, it was too windy for my little mini 4 at a lot of spots.
@@TheDetourDuogreat information. I love that they have signs. I’ll have mine with me in case the stars align. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.
Of course. Always love to help out people who want to be respectable drone pilots. The people who don't care for the rules make it harder to fly for everyone else. Also, I should note that I got my EU classification before going. Not sure that you need it, especially if you're flying a drone under 250g, but it's easy enough to obtain. Just gotta reach out to DJI a couple of weeks in advance so they can mail the stickers to you
First we were like 🫣 but when you think about it, It would have ended up costing about the same to rent an Airbnb at every town when camped, but with this we had the flexibly to come and go anywhere at the drop of a hat. Add the airbnb cost plus a car rental, and comparatively you've got yourself a pretty good deal with a camper van
Those drone shots at the beginning were *chefs kiss*. Also, the first hot dog reaction was so real hahahah.
I thought everything looked like a postcard! So pretty!
Haha. The first place for hotdogs we were like meh, okay. That second place, though. That's when the hype became real 🤣
