    Thanks for such a great review of my father's book. Very proud. Shared to my page Active Rope on Facebook, where I've followed in his footsteps and now produce bespoke bridge's, net's and fenders too. All the best Matt Jones.

      Hello Matt, thanks for popping over and leaving such a great comment. I actually referred to the book only the other day, when I did a video on making a small side fender. A favourite book of mine. I am now off to look you up on FB, I will make myself known to you.

      Yes, you can still get the book from his son: Had the following message from Matt:- "Thanks for your enquiry. The book is stocked by the Inland Waterways Association IWA and is also available from the International Guild of Knot Tyers IGKT. Alternatively I can supply you at £12 per book plus postage payment through pay pal. Hope this helps. All the best, Matt Jones: activerope@gmail.com "

    If I may ask, why are you soo into fenders if you don't own a boat?

    • @KnottingKnots
      @KnottingKnots  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fenders are very beautiful and should not be used just for boats. Besides I have one hanging on my garage wall, since putting it there no boat has rammed into my garage :-) Are you a knotter?

    • @TheMojoTribe
      @TheMojoTribe 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not a career knotter unfortunately , i'm in the process of painting my narrowboat and thought it would be nice to replace all my fender by making them myself. I have to agree with you they are very beautiful and extremely satisfying to make. I think il keep on practising and see if anyone at my marina is interested in buying some, who knows. Thanks for the review by the way I picked up the book on amazon with your advice, I don't suppose you know of any other good fender books? Information on traditional fender making seems pretty sparse.

      Actually, it turns out that the son of the guy that wrote the book is a career knot worker. He will shortly be sending me a complete fender kit to review. Keep an eye on this channel, as I will let you know if the book has been updated and also if the fender kit is value for money.

    This 'book' is not quite the masterpiece that the reviewer implies.
    The English is poor and the spelling is worse.
    If you can't already tie a wall knot and a crown knot you probably won't learn them here: the drawings are monochrome; all the rope strands look the same! Finishing the fender is confusing and unnecessarily complicated.
    The section on half-hitching (despite the syntax and spelling) is better, and useful.
    The sections on the structure of rope and on knots are just fillers to make the book worth its price; it's quite expensive for a typewritten spiral-bound book. If you want knots animatedknotsdotcom is the only place to go.
    I was given my copy of this 'book' as a gift. It sparked my interest, and I consult it often.

      Sorry, it has taken me so long to reply, only just found this comment unanswered. I will pass on your comments to the author's son, this will give him an opportunity to update the book?
