One thing that strikes me is your ability to fly and video simultaneously. The whoops of boy-like joy seem to be the result of careful planning and meticulous attention to detail (like your models). The amount of support equipment you bring out to the field must be impressively complete and organized.
I don't think there is anything as dramatic as a rubber powered biplane in the air...I love the sound of the power burst.
Beautiful plane, beautiful flying. Thank you.
Thx, Ken. Setting up various cams has become more routine, so it doesn't distract as much as it had early on. It's a carnival show sometimes... But most important to me is that I use the good air & conditions as efficiently as possible, since they're a rarity. I never know what I have until I see it later, but I'm always pleased to know that I've recorded the entire process...good or bad.
Well said.
Love, love, love the shots of the landed plane in the landscape. Beautiful.
Engine sound in the background, coincidentally wonderful effect. Superb👍
Max you are just jolted 62 years of wonderful memories from gliders to rubber free flights escapements single Channel 2 channel 3 Channel 4 channel actually build tissue paper then silk sneak into the field the middle of the winter drinking hot cocoa sitting in the car to warm up talkin about our last flight patience my dad used to say was the key to a beautiful flying plane I can see that in you sir
Thx, George. I'm glad the film triggered a good memory for you.
Beautiful model.
29 minutes of my life well spent watching the evolution of a flight, thank you!
Thx, Michael. This was longer than most, but there's nothing quick about trimming. She now feels much closer to being in trim.
It's the meaning of life ✨️
I came across this yesterday and felt compelled to revisit today. I built balsa gliders in the 70s and thought I knew a bit about model planes, but I had no idea there were such powerful rubber motor planes. I get a good vibe from watching this, almost quasi-meditative. I also find the video well shot and edited. Thank you for sharing your experiments and your excitement.
You must have a large collection of beautiful planes...
In every video, the models are very cool. I think this is one of the best model airplane channels.
Thx. Glad u enjoy it.
I pay 1000 dollar for this beautiful model, thank you sir for this video
Your models are so perfectly built, they remind me of my late Father (RIP).
My dad was a perfectionist, he built some astounding model planes and passed the love for this hobby onto myself.
I've never been as precise as he used to be but I've had many happy hours building planes :-).
Thx for the feedback, Paul. Our dads' generation has been an inspiration.
Bro, thanks the Nice post. I've built dozen models. Actually a pleasure. T.F.H. from Brazil.
Well done sir, a true master class in trimming a model aircraft.
Just Magic!
The day was so kind and the field so soft. I think gliders/low powered planes have a deal with the wind and atmosphere more than with their owner :)
That sky though towards evening was very dramatic and you captured it perfectly; Bravo!
loved your vid. watched the build vid also. brought me back to my boyhood in the 50,s. beautiful build by the way, a true master of the art. many thanx.
Very nice. Beautiful, Graceful, and Educational all at the same time. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulation to this nice plane flying perfectly! No need of electronics, engines and batteries. Thank you to show that!
Fabulous to watch a man at his art thanks for sharing.
Many thanks for posting this - it's been over 40 years since I gave up the hobby and I'd forgotten how beautiful silent free flight can be. Best wishes.
That's beautiful craftsmanship !... The flight was fantastic' cudos !
I have been making models for nearly 50 years, I fly RC fixed wing and Helis and am subscribed to many RC flying youtube channels but yours, sir, is a real treasure because it captures the very essence of the beauty and tranquility of flying.
Thx for the kind words. I show what I feel when I fly, a love that was passed down to me by my dad. I'm glad that you're enjoying it.
I have been making models for over 70 years now. My father started me in 1948 when I was 5 1/2 years old with large rubber powered and 1/2 A and U-control, and I still enjoy building and flying electric R/C.
It looked so scale just floating there in the sky glad I came across your video ❤
Beautiful. So rewarding when they finally fly like that last flight.
You bring back childhood memories of flying similar planes with my Dad. Thanks from Tasmania.
What a labour of love. A lovely model.
One of the best uses of a half hour of my life I could imagine. Thank you for that!
What beautiful airplane. Success isn't mine but I have a very nice feeling of happiness because at the end, all attempts and corrections paid off with a final superb flight. Send you my best from Mexico.
hello I found your video and I thought it might not be interesting I was wrong… You are a fantastic content creator and this video where to start… It's like so beautiful and I could feel your love of flight throughout. It was like going back to the roots the beginning of flying machines. When you hand launched in slow motion it was so beautiful. My friend I am at a lack of words your video left me quite moved. I could feel the air I could feel the flight it was simply amazing. By the way I'm a chopper pilot and I never thought the elastic power would be something I would be interested in but your presentation left me breathless. This video was absolutely beautiful… good work beautiful airplane beautiful location your narration everything… Thank you for sharing this moment I'll never forget
Thx for ur kind words, Jeff. I'm glad u found and enjoy the channel.
Tom, All your videos have always been lovely with excellent production value but I do love the way you are talking through the trimming process. Beautiful and educational. Thank you!
Ok...I just started this presentation and the screen shot of the uncovered airframe BLEW ME AWAY!!!
Really cool how you can fine tune that plane ✈️ what a great job you did
What a beauty. Good job.
It looks great and flies well
Coolest thing I’ve watched in a long time
I actually fly RC but very much enjoyed this video. Great job of building and flying! Amazed at how you are able to fine tune the aircraft. Thank you!
As Always; Beautiful Engineering Modeling!
Beautiful Flights!
Beautiful flying experience for the viewer.
Excellent Educational Narration.
Thanks again for sharing.
Thx, Larry. I hope it helps other flyers when they trim their ships.
@@maxfliart These flying tips are always good.
Thanks again Max.
Beautiful. Can't think of a better way to say it.
A real work of art , I loved it , looked fantastic !!!!!
I’ve always thought that beautiful rubber powered models were never great flyers. This beauty proved that wrong. What a beautiful realistic flight.
Thx for the kind words. It's a pleasure to fly these birds.
Quite the tonic this one, quite literally a great way to unwind!
A life well spent. Thank you for sharing a small part of it.
Isn’t it so satisfying when you get a plane trimmed well and get excellent flight duration? Your planes are amazing and beautiful!
Wonderful! So much information and so much fun!!!
Thanks!
Yes, beautiful airplane model and marvelous flights. I think more power would serve it better. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely gorgeous model, and very beautiful work. I am primarily an rc modeler however have heaps of love and respect for all different types of aeromodelling. It seems Free Flight and Control Line are more a rarity and considered vintage if not disappearing forms of the hobby nowadays which increases my intrigue. More of a reason to continue sharing the wonders of model aviation with others. This video is a lovely treat. Enjoy!
A beautiful model, thanks for sharing!
I love the happiness you can hear in your voice as you get close to where you want it. Extremely satisfying!
THAT BRINGS memories of my younger years, I am 75now, still FLYING , free flight, get younger TO chase it down, have had 11 ops and not found, super triming flights! Keep it up, not enough bf's left. Good day!!
Thx, Thomas. Glad u enjoy the films.
That's an amazing day I've only built a couple of peanut scale but loved the build and thr little bit of flying.that I've dome Loved the video !!
Thanks for sharing your trimming techniques. A beautiful model and a true joy to watch.
This is spell bidingly emmersive . Thank you .
Wow, that flew pretty good!! Great job!!!
I love this video and keep going back to it for inspiration and motivation thanks
The most realistic rubber band scale model flight I've ever seen!
Hello from northern Thailand, really enjoyed your video. I'm an electric guy, expat Canadian retired here. Flying and building foamies but the real challenge is the heat. That field you flew at made me homesick for eastern Canada where in summer it's easy to find a soft hay field big like yours. Not the case here, every inch grows rice or something. And even after the crop is done fields are hard stubble, so I missed your dandylion, plush grass. Kudos on your patience trying little changes along the testing. I never was exposed to your aspect of the hobby and now see it's details, details that count. Nice music and that slow Mo of you launching was "Budddddaaahhhh" . All the best. Tim - Chiangrai.
Thx for the kind words, Tim, and for reaching out. I enjoyed hearing ur perspectives. Cheers.
Another gorgeous build, Tom, and an equally beautiful flyer. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful model, and your tuning is spot on! Very cool!
Always fun and relaxing to watch a master at work with a masterpiece in a beautiful setting. My whole day has started peacefully now thank you.
Absolutely beautiful . Thank you for taking the time to make the vid and sharing it.
Another one of your beautiful builds showing your talent..thank your for sharing another of your great videos...looking forward to more,
This video is a great introduction to the importance of persistence and SMALL changes in trimming. And 18:10 may have been a "fluke" but there's nothing like the feeling of catching a thermal with a free-flight aircraft. Thanks for sharing!
The most beautiful model I have seen in a while. I built a 12 inch version years ago but I LOVE this larger size.
That was FUN! All the different tweaks you made to get that airplane fly the way you wanted it to! 👍🏼
Excellent, great model and great filming. Thank you.
WOW!!!! Just beautiful.
Beautiful man ,Whats a great plane!!
I love the silence of rubber powered flight 🧡👍
Some great flying tips there, thanks.
"That was the afternoon my plane flew so well that I never saw it again..." 😄 Beautiful video. Thank you. 👍❤
It was fun watching the results of each little tweak. Well done.
You rubber guys have incredible patience! I have thought about building some rubber but since I fly R/C I don't think I could tolerate all the tweaking and finicky results! Fully enjoyed your video!
Great looking build you have there. It's all these little nuances that have bearing on its attitude and tailored trim you've lent its flight envelope. All trial and error to one ends, to get it to track cleanly while maintaining its stability. Great job!
Thx Murray. I definitely take a slow, methodical approach. Patience seems to payoff with FF. Especially if you don't have long grass for gentle landings
@@maxfliart every flight must be nerve racking as heck since you have all that effort in it, just one good crack-up and its all over. I used to fly U-control, gas control profile flyers, and destroyed just a few. Great job getting the balance right.
That's beautiful. Great job of building it.
Boy that was beautiful thanks
It’s beautiful as a static model, it is wonderful that you can make fly with grace.
Those stills around the 11th till the last flights are all beautiful wall paper for the computer. The field and the sky with clouds in the background are gorgeous.
I remember being staggered with the commitment to Free Flight Scale 30+ years ago to risk disaster on flight #1. Keep the dream alive :)
It's remarkably quiet on the Western Front! So relaxing to watch. There's just something about the Martinsyde tail. Lovely :)
Beautiful model, I would be too worried about loosing her. Brilliant how she lands on her own. Great to watch 👍🏻
That was fun too watch thanks 🙏
Awesome! Thank you for sharing👌🏽
Thanks for all the trim info sir. very very helpful and inspiring. Wonderfully artful and scientific!
Thx, Stefan. Was good to see u last weekend at Wawa.
Beautiful afternoons flight in the sunshine.
Helpful displaying all the trimming you did. With a little bit more, you can train it to come right back to you.😂
Tremendous modeling!
Pretty model. All nice flights!
Very nice biplane ! ✈️
Thanks, probably made my day I’m going flying now 🙂
Absloutely beautiful airplane. You have so much patience, but the rewards are great. I'm a control liner from decades ago and trying my hand at R/C. I built the 'requisite' sailplanes and rubber kits as a teenager. I love building and bought a cheap Guillows model to try rubber. Thanks for the inspiration.
Beautiful bird!
That was really nice wow beautiful
Beautiful airplane thanks for sharing!
You are a patient man.
A master at work such an enjoyable video thanks for sharing.
Fascinating Captain.
better and better every time... good stuff. )
Just superb Tom. Your persistence is rewarded.
Noel
Thx, Noel.
Thanks again for sharing your skill and knowledge.
Don't think you can beat rubber powered motors
Simple clean and quiet.
That is a Beautiful bi plane I'm so intrigued by these balsa planes powered by a rubber band. Yeah we had them as kids but nothing like this.
Outstanding shipmate. Press on. USS Kitty Hawk CV-63 Jan 1980 to July 1983.
Just fascinating to watch
Beautiful!
