I love your videos. Something to ponder, when you have to go to docks with exposed pilings, you can take two fenders and bridge them with a 2x12 about 3'-5' long. This way the fender doesn't slip off of the piling and allow contact with the piling. I hope this helps in your future adventures. I live in the Wrightsville Beach, NC area. If I can ever help as you come through, give me shout!
It's very surreal to see your boat in that beautiful water. In my head I am just used to seeing it in your videos up the Chesapeake, the Canal, or the Delaware Bay.
Back in 2010, it was only a $1 a foot a night at Exuma Docking Service, and we ended up staying there a lot, just because it was so cheap. But, yeah, it's a little rough. It always has been. And we love Fish Fry, too!
Continue to enjoy your videos and your always positive attitude. Stuff happens will fix it and move on. Counting down years (less than 5) to mirror your travels. 👍👍👍. Still looking for your music to be on your vids Ed. 👍
Love the video, really gives us all the feeling we wish we were there. That Marine Tex epoxy has been a staple for years. The kids know exactly where it is and how to use it before they return the boat to me.
I hear you are going to be at Annapolis. I plan on being in Maryland next week looking to buy a boat, a used one, not a new one and plan on stopping by the show, if possible. It would be great to meet you there as I plan on doing a Chanel and bringing my boat to the Bahamas in a few, months also. This is IF I have a boat by then, but the one I am looking at this seems promising. A little smaller than yours, but seems to have the same dinghy. Hope to see you there.
They will have a cove dedicated to used boats at the show. Usually about 40 of them, or so. We'll be at the show during the day, and bar hopping at night. We will be posting in real-time on Facebook, if you would like to meet up.
I had to rewind the video several times to understand that the bumpers that cushion the pilings were removed and that because of this, the mounting bolts (that extrude 3") were exposed, causing the damage to the fiberglass on the rails. I look forward to the fiberglass repair video.
Sorry forgot to click "Like" had to come back. Annapolis Boat show? I grew up there, went back on what I thought to be non busy week end boy was I wrong . Enjoy your time there, love the City but not the crowds.
That's Choppys marina. It's a pretty exposed, pretty rough area. I got damage to my boat in that exact same slip 2 years prior on the rub rail, from a bolt. My problem is the flare of the bow had too much curve and the fender in that area wasn't effectively keeping the boat away from the piling and I banged into the 2x12 that was there and broke it and left the bolt head sticking out. I ended up with 11 lines securing the boat with three of them being thrown across the open slip just the way you did in the video. I can't blame the marina they can only do so much and it's up to yourself to manage your own risks and perils. But I know how you feel.
Love your videos, but maybe thoughts on telling us who have never been to Bahamas what locals say is best windows to navigate, but would imagine high tides with low winds? Any helpful advice would be great for us amateurs heading there in the near future, any special apps or reading you would recommend? Thanks again!
@@tryingnottosink9107 west marine. Perfection, buff smooth after fiberglass repair. Roll paint, it smooths out while drying. Cool stuff. I’m an expert, I have a gheenoe classic and I nick it up all the time…. Ha ha
Ed, do you guys have an email address? I would REALLY like to pick your brain on the subject of insurance. Just bought a yacht and.... insurance,. or lack of it, is a nightmare.
Yes. Just PM through Facebook, it is easiest. I do not always check the Trying Not To Sink email, since almost none uses it. But I check Facebook PMs often.
Gorgeous looks like a wonderful time.
It was!
thanks hope to see you guys Saturday at boat show

Good attitude, stuff happens.

Great video! Enjoy your crisis management skills and positive outlook when hiccups happen! We hope to join the boat life soon!
Thanks. Hope to see you on the water soon!
See you guys at the boat show 👍
See you there!

That time portal is handy!

It sure is! We spent two months and beautiful water this year!

I just used it yesterday, to fix the gouges from the pilings. Now to find some matching paint.
Awesome vedio
Thanks 🤗
Hello Guy's wife and I will be at the show on Friday around 13:00 or 14:00 hope to see you we are coming from Philadelphia area
We will probably arrive there around 15:00-16:00 on Friday and will be staying until Sunday morning. See you there!

I just wish they would have alerted me of the bolts. I could easily have prepared or chosen another slip.

One of our favorite ports!
I'm old enough to remember when the place was run by the British! Yep, I'm older than you! I had my first legal beer in the Bahamas!
Yep, I was too young for a beer back then!
If you look at the bright side we can enjoy some videos of you doing some fiberglass repair. I do enjoy your boat maintenance videos
I am sure that will be true!

I believe a mention that in the next video. I think. I haven't edited yet. Should have it out within a week.
Do you handle customs in any videos?
Yes. No video in the offices but I discuss the process in a couple videos.
Your going fix the fiberglass, roll paint with perfection paint and all will be well.
That's the plan. but I do not know which paint yet. Having a hard time finding a matching color.

WHY NOT USE YOUR DRONE TO FIND THE CUT THROUGH ???
that would be absurd to blame the marina for the that, seriously?
Plus it’s the CAPTAIN’s responsibility not the Marina’s..
Marina operator operates the marina, not the boat...... just sayin'
