@@RWM0 Or he could have ignore the stupid girl and taken the fight back to his palace like he wanted in the first place. This episode more than any other was so simple-stupid, it was really sloppy writing.
There’s even an homage to classic King Kong in the credits with some concept art that shows the Rancor climbing a building and carrying what looks like a Twilek woman.
I honestly loved the scene with Grogu and the Rancor. Big "Size matters not" vibes, and it was just... amazing, seeing this tiny little thing calm down this rampaging monster. Grogu has already changed a lot since we last saw him, and I am so curious about where things are going from here. As Luke said - a short time for him is a lifetime for most people. I'd love to see Grogu become the second Mandalorian Jedi, and potentially Din's heir.
I liked when Luke told Mando he would guard Grogu with his life and then sent him across the galaxy with just R2-D2. I love the astromech droid, but come on. I understand why Luke wasn’t present on Tatooine, but seemed a contrived way to put Din and Grogu back together so soon. Their reunion here did not feel earned at all in my opinion!

"I thought it was okay." Totally agree. Sometimes it's okay to say something is "fine." We don't always have to be so against something just because it isn't perfect.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Everything has to be a 20/10 otherwise is wasted potential (ergo, not what *I* wanted) Brb, finna organize with prequelmemes a bunch of arsonist strikes against disney stores
Honestly I like this show because I was able to put it on while I was doing work and I didn’t have to follow the story as hard just good mindless fun lol and grogu bein cute
My thoughts too! Overall, the series didn’t capture me as much as it did Mando but I dig the new cast of characters in Boba’s gang. If anything, I think the series made me more excited for the next season of Mando. I feel like Dinn became one of my favorite SW characters in this show.
I wish Cad Bane had been introduced earlier to make him a bigger threat. I really wish they had kept the Mando and Luke episodes for season 3 of The Mandalorian. These episodes could have been used to focus on Boba Fett's backstory with Cad Bane to make their final confrontation hit even harder. It was still a great scene but if the series had used the time it had to build up its main character and a major antagonist it probably would have been better for it.
100% agree. It almost feels like Disney forced them to include Mandalorian episodes to build up hype for Mando season 3, sacrificing the build up of Boba's story with cad bane. Cad Bane being introduced in the 2nd to last episode and dying in the last episode (but possibly not with the beeping at the end) gives me Kingpin vibes in Hawkeye
The way they did Cad like that was honestly just sad they kinda through him away. I was hoping at the end he was gonna be the one in the tank. But I was happy to see Cobb
Yeah the episode 6 would have been cool to see boba and the rancor training or some more intense scenes with boba and bane. Still an amazing story and series tho loved it
By my count, Bane had literally FOUR scenes in the entire show (his entrance in Freetown, talking with the Pike leader, threatening Boba at Sanctuary, final fight). He was good in all of those scenes, but it's a bizarre thing to do with your main antagonist.
This is why Alex still has the best channel around for reviews. They’re strictly informative on what the movie/show/book contained. While his opinion is present, there’s no forcing it upon another or trying to drive a wedge between fans. Props to you dude. May the force be with us all.
I'm kinda surprised you didn't mention the beeping after Cad died, was that meant to indicate to the Pykes that the situation got seriously bad or was it calling Todo to pick him up or even some sort of health support kicked in
I've been a Star Wars fan since the early 90s, when all we had were books, VHS tapes, and action figures from flea markets. The volume and quality of Star Wars content that we have now is something my generation of fans never could have envisioned, but I feel like it is being taken for granted. To see any live action Star Wars always takes my breath away. I, for one, really enjoyed the finale, as well as the character development and storytelling in the BoBF. As an older fan, I see so many of the literary and cinema allusions being made. It is clear we are watching a long, integrated story arch being played out (something fans always claimed they wanted), and I am happily along for the ride.
My thoughts exactly. I remember Star Wars being such a mystery to the main stream as my friends would plow through paperback novels in elementary school back in the late 90s. I feel that visiting Galaxy’s Edge last year was emotional for me in an elder Millennial way for this reason :) I’m here for all live action Star Wars.
@@jmanuo87 When I saw ANH for the first time, I was stunned to find out most of my friends had never seen SW. We were in a gap I have described as "The Lost Star Wars Generation". Too young to have seen the OT in theaters, but too old to have been introduced to SW by the Prequels. We really had to work for our fandom. Just like you, a picked up every novel I could find. I thought those books would be the only additional SW I would ever know... Same for Galaxies Edge. My first time there I was able to explore it at night, alone. I'm pretty sure I cried.
I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I'm upset that the Gamorrean guards were not only killed, but killed by being driven off a cliff. A stupid part of me held out hope they survived, but alas. The coolest members of his entourage were wiped out (the mods are okay, but not my favorite)
Might be an unpopular opinion, but I would have preferred to see Cad Bane in the Bacta tank instead of Cobb Vanth. It would have made narrative sense too, since Cad Bane does taunt Boba for being a killer, so saving his life despite that would make a lot of sense.
Honestly was thinking the same, I thought Cobb would have been already dead, so I wasn't expecting to see him in the tank. Would have been neat to see Bane in the tank, but his set up in this show has been as a villain. I don't know what they'd do with him if he did survive.
This usually happens when writters focus too much on the protagonists . A great story will tend to have great villains. In this case it would be the Pykes. There should have been a more mafia syndicate indepth approach to them, at least 5 or 6 main Pyke characters, inner turmoil, more demonstrations of cruelty and more scenarios where the Pykes are established as a huge threat. I feel the same as you, the series was a fun journey and there is alot to love , yet It feels like episode 7 ran out of gas. Perhaps they should have went the full 10 episodes. In closing , the show took a very different approach and most of it worked . ( for me )
@@Ragnarok6664 Same. I really wish they had made Ep 6 more focused around the Rancor training and other prep so the payoff would have been so much better. Not mad we got Grogu, but we could have had so much more
For some Mandalorian fans, who decide not to watch Book of Boba Fett because the don't care about him etc, the departure of Grogu and then a sudden reappearance in season 3 will be very questionable..
That's their problem. If you're a Star Wars fan in this new era, you watch it all. If you choose to be stubborn and refuse to watch, say, Bad Batch because "it's a cartoon," or Book of Boba Fett because "he's not my favorite character," then you're knowingly leaving pieces out of the puzzle. The shared narrative approach works for the MCU, so why can't it also work for Star Wars? Watching solely the Avengers movies would be very confusing for people too, but people aren't complaining about that.
@@Progger11 I have watched both and I still find it questionable because him returning this easily completely undermines the entire season 2. I also really dislike what it means to Luke's character. It seems he gave up on training Grogu at the first possible chance. He gave the choice to an infant and when the Kid chose attachment, he just put him on a ship and sent him away. Not only that is not the Luke we know from ROTJ but it also gives horrible disturbing TLJ vibes.
Strong stories should be able to stand on their own. Like Dave Filoni said a few years back, you don’t have to read The Hobbit to understand The Lord Of the Rings, though he would recommend them both. Up until this point, Star Wars stories have been able to firmly stand on their own. For those that watch everything, they are greatly rewarded. For those who understand the rivalry between Cad Bane and Boba Fett, this episode was more satisfying, but it also works if you don’t get it. I agree that the animation excuse is dumb, as some of the greatest Star Wars stories are in animation, and hopefully more people will check them out as a result of these series. The Mandalorian does admittedly have a problem now though, and I’m curious as to how it will be resolved. When it says, “Previously on The Mandalorian” in the S3 Premiere, will they show clips from Book Of Boba? Very weird...
But the pykes have so much "money" in universe and could pay a thousnd soldies. My biggest problem was that no "good" guys died. Noone from Freetown or not a single important character. The "drodeikas" was just ridiculous how they catched up on everyone running and just could not hit a single target!
@@GleffRotmg yeah but dont forget they are a galaxy wide criminal sindicate, they are only going to spend so much money on a backwater planet like Tattooine
@@GleffRotmg So yeah given there size what they dispatched look to be 50-100 guys that’s a good cartel size and makes sense for “foreign” asset operation where as probably most local gangs would have a dozen to 50 members. While the pykes are basically a crime empire. They also wouldn’t dispatch more than enough to deal with a few local problems that refuse to be paid off. Which is what they did. It’s just Boba had a couple more aces in his deck than they expected. What probably would have happened is they would have gone back and at a later date with a larger force and just went over the top the expunge boba. (Ie just blowing up everything of his)
When Bane first tries to goad Boba into a duel and Fennec stops him, it reminded me of a line from the TV film of The Odyssey. Something like “To be angry is easy, but to be angry at the right person, at the right time, that is hard.” It’s been a while since I saw the movie.
Loved this show. In the words of Leslye Headland, “I am the type of Star Wars fan that doesn’t even have a favorite movie. I just want to live in the universe of Star Wars continually, in perpetuity, forever. So when people are like ‘What’s your favorite Star Wars movie?’ I’m like, ‘There is no Star Wars movie; there is only Star Wars.’”
I feel the same honestly. For many star wars related categories (Jedi, Sith, show, film) I don't even have a favorite, because I prefer to enjoy Star Wars as a whole franchise, books, films, shows, comics, video games all working together.
I think Cad's final rant means we're getting the backstory discussed in the episode in the Bad Batch (Cad training Boba). I'm sad to say I'm only moderately excited by that. If the arc had been Cad's final moments, him being shot by a young Boba would be a fitting end for him. Bested by the next generation, a passing of the torch. And the Book of Bobba Fett would have completed Boba's arc by having him leaving bounty hunting behind and not dying a violent death at the hand of the next generation, but instead nurturing it, the way a leader does.
I agree, also Cad’s stuff about being a killer and ruthless doesn’t make sense. He’s kidnapped kids and tortured Jedi. He killed another man for his hat. He killed zero (than again he deserves it). If we had got that in Bad Batch I would have liked it

I don't think Boba ever denies he's capable at killing. but I think the main difference is that Cad thinks he is a killer and will only ever be one, right to the very end when he tries to kill Boba repeatedly. Cad does this for a living and has never reinvented himself, while Boba currently has only taken a life if he has something to protect.
Really wanted the Tusken Woman Warrior to come back and help Boba with the Pikes, was hoping she joined another Tribe and brought them to Mos Espa to help Boba. Cad Bane death was a letdown hoping he actually survived for more fights to come against Boba. Liked the Rancor but want a Season 2 with more Boba Fett!!
If she had returned and got revenge on the pykes it would have elevated the show so much. When they didn't clearly show that she was dead, I had some hope for that. It's a real shame it didn't happen

If you told me a Boba finale would involve him riding a rancor and having an epic Kaju fight with a droid from legends(got some serious Godzilla vs Mecha Godzilla vibes). I call you crazy. Yep this is a Robert Rodriguez episode alright.
I think this series might have been one of my favourite pieces of star wars media if it committed to being its own thing. The Mando interlude would've been fine if it hadn't basically taken up two episodes and stalled all the momentum the season had been building. If I were to restructure it, I would have taken all the grogu stuff out and waited til Mando series 3, had the Din interlude without the "I have to go see grogu" part, then used the penultimate episode to show more of the preparations for the battle, possibly recruiting more allies and deepening bonds so that the final battle feels grander and more well earned. Overall I did like the season, especially Boba's arc, just as you said, but taking two episodes to completely derail the story really hurt the overall pacing of the show. Din finding his covert and getting his n1 felt relevant and thematic, but everything else felt tacked on, and also feels like it'll dampen the impact of Mando series 3
Yeah, they still could have ended episode 5 with "I have to visit a little friend" and then leave episode 6 for Book 3, but I'm sure people would be just as upset with that tease.
I think those two episodes would’ve been fine if the season was a few episodes longer. With the amount of episodes we had the show goes off into a completely different direction for two episodes and then ends in the next episode. I think there should have been at least one or two more episodes between the Luke and Grogu episode and the finale.
Nailed it. I mean I loved seeing Grogu with Lukem obviously, but it definitely threw the pace off and made the finale feel rushed. I still loved it overall and am, as always, mainly happy I got to see new Star Wars.
@@forrestpenrod2294 I basically agree. I probably would've preferred the series without it, but if they had to have it for whatever reason I just wish it hadn't taken up so much runtime
I think that this season was both great and somewhat mediocre at the same time! Looking back and now that the season is over every episode now has a purpose! I think it was all about establishing setting, character arcs, etc. I have a feeling the second season of “The Book of Boba Fett” will be fantastic! Just like season 2 of “The Mandalorian”!
Just making a quick point about how the battle seemed small scale in comparison to Clone Wars. These are two entirely different fights and entirely different wars. We aren’t watching a whole Separatist aramada fighting a clone army because that’s not what this was. This was essentially a gang war, where yes, the fighting and all around action is much smaller. Gangs don’t have entire armies to fight for them so I’m not sure why that was an expectation. If you ask me, the quality of this battle more than made up for the lack of quantity. Great series of events and fantastic episode in my opinion. I’ve always thought book of boba was an interlude anyway
@@cm275 And it's not like street gang battles are less dangerous for the participants only because they are small scale. Actually, for a turf war, the Pykes came very well prepared. Made alliances and took heavy equipment with them.
I’m really hoping for a season 2. Since yeah boba now has control of tatooine. Let’s not forget the other crime families. Enjoyed the fight in town with mando and boba. I don’t like how bane is actually faster than boba in terms of shooting since that scene in the deleted episode is canon. Rip to those two guards😭. Anyways enjoyed the end of bane. I’m guessing Temuera confused the episode since there was no big surprise cameo
The Hutt Twins are still an issue so there's that possibility. Also in terms of the "Mandoverse" and what all these post-ROTJ series are building up to, Boba is now there as a potential ally. He and Din have formed a rapport now and I can totally imagine Boba providing some support to Din when he returns to Mandalore eventually in Mando Season Season 3.
@@myriadmediamusings the twins left cuz they didn’t want beef with anyone they even gave the rancor as a gift. Also after hearing after what boba did to the pykes after this episode I doubt they’ll come and attack since even they didn’t want to fight the pykes
@@Tom-bn6pr yeah plus the rumors of Han Solo appearing was bs. I doubt he would’ve been a huge cameo as I was expecting the bad batch or omega to appear
I think Bane being faster than Boba is fine, considering the circumstances. Bane had stayed in practice as a hunter, Boba had lived with the Tuskens and hadn't used blasters as much since ROTJ.
good review, I agree with everything. So many people are losing their heads saying this is the worst thing they have ever seen. Although I agree its not everything I wish it was, they did a good job and I was entertained and excited the whole episode and thats what matters right
"The worst thing they've ever seen?" Either these folks have been living under a rock since 1999 in regards to the mixed quality of Star Wars or they don't know any better.
On first viewing, I feel slightly disappointed. Particularly for Grogu's story arc. It's funny to look back at some of the predictions. I think we all over analysed it! Good action scenes though, if a little repetitive
Agree, honestly feel they've rushed Grogu's story there. Seeing Mando trying to make sense of his place in the universe again without Grogu or the covert, that sounds interesting to me. A few episodes of regular thing-of-the-week adventures, slowly pushing Mando's character forward, maybe we get to see more of Grogu's training, and honestly more of Luke and Ahsoka interacting, and they can reunite in the end... or maybe not at all. Mando finding a jedi who'll take Grogu, the big goodbye, taking off his helmet, getting kicked out the Covert, Grogu training... I mean it all happened still, all mattered and changed Mando and Grogu but... now they're just back to where they were. I guess Mando's gonna reluctantly Jon Snow his way ass backwards into becoming the ruler of Mandalore, which will be cool to see but really doesn't fit in with his character for me
@@goten339 Good points, well made! I got the impression we saw Grogu (rather rapidly) develop into a more active main character. He has rediscovered his Force abilities, particularly the jumping and will perhaps have a more prevalent role in S3? Although I'm not sure where they go with their dynamic as a clan of two?

Wow I thought more people would really like the Episode, it gave everyone what they wanted from Boba: killing, saying cool things, using his jetpack, riding the rancor, defeating Cad Bane (with his gaffi stick no less).
@@akirafuto7783 Also we wanted Boba to say LESS and I didn't want Cad Bane to be defeated. Personally I wanted a badass Boba Fett. I know it's Disney Star Wars now so I shouldn't expect much in the way of the good guys being able to lose... I mean even Cobb survived and he was the closest thing to any (somewhat relevant) good guy dying. This show NEVER gave me a sense of there being high stakes. I never felt anyone remotely important risked death.
Yes let's protect the people by ensuring the battle takes place in the middle of town instead of the middle of nowhere where we would have the advantage of proper fortifications.
I'm happy with the ending, it definitely expanded some concepts in the universe for me. My immediate thought with the post credits is it was Bane inside the tank lol, but I'm very happy Cob gets to survive!
I like your assessments more than most of the TH-camrs and think you nailed a lot of presumptions and assessments. Initially I think this series was to satisfy Boba Fett fans by allowing people to understand he was so much more and could evolve to so much more based on his life and ability to escape the Sarlac pit with an explanation on how that occurred. I love Fennec Shand and think she is an exception in everything she does, the ideal assassin. With regards to Cad Bane I was glad to see him die and glad Boba vindicated his strength through his role in a Tuscan way based on the fact that he learned new ways...a credit to his development. With regards to Grogu I believe that Luke eluded to the fact that Grogu was "remembering" more of his ways and prior training then Luke was actually instructing. I also feel that Grogu will stay in touch with Luke and eventually build his own lightsaber or inherit the dark saber. But I feel he will show many new powers and capabilities as his character develops in future seasons of the Mandalorian..
Love your analysis! I’ve watched a few others that were unhappy because they didn’t get the fullness of a motion picture on the small screen. You get why! Thanks for settling the minds of your watchers with calm insight and confident expectations for the future. It’s nice to listen to a grounded understanding of the Disney+ TV series’ intentions and accomplishments.
Okay so my thoughts are really swirling about where this COULD lead... At the end they mention the bakta tank is being used for someone else (who we shortly after find out is Cobb Vanth) then Boba asks if they're really cut out for this kinda thing. Fennec asks if not us then who? I believe that who could be Vanth and Boba ends up joining in the fight to restore Mandalore at some point!
Although this chapter didn't live up to my expectations, it is still great in my opinion. I love the action in this chapter, it gives underdog vibes And when The Rancor fought those droids, it gives me Jurassic World vibes.
In my opinion, most of the series' issues came down to Robert Rodriguez's directing. He did great as an EP on this and giving it his thumbprint but I don't think his directing helped the show.
Yeah he has a weird directing style. The Action seems Cheap and Campy. It seems like a kid Played with his Action figures and all over the place. But maybe its just my opinion.
I really enjoyed this episode and the show as a whole, but if we get another season, I really hope it explores Boba's relationship with Jango as well as how he feels about being a clone.
That would be fun. The Clone Wars already did a little of that, with Boba interacting with clones and saying that they aren't the same, but more opportunities to explore Boba's past is always welcome.
As a writer, I just wanna say that everyone's complaints that the story of The Book of Boba Fett seemingly lacked cohesion and was very unfocused were valid. But the fact still stands that each episode introduced us and made us care one way or another for one of the many guns in the mounting arsenal in the Chekov's arsenal that all went off at the final episode. Everything in the series mattered. Even the 1 and a half episode where the titular character was out of focus and the very slow main plotline progression. It all made sense in the end for every piece introduced and explained mattered at the end. It might not have been cohesive when it was introduced and that was fully understandably and justified complaints, but in the end, every decision made narrative sense and formed a cohesive picture for an absolute banger of a finale.
@@stevelawson911 I am currently unpublished as I have yet to fully finish my first book but I have written well over 600 pages and 2186958 words in total for the books over the span of 4 years so I think I can qualify myself as a writer at this point. It's my own take of a sci-fi story inspired by the GFFA and other series that have influenced me throughout my life. Its world is inspired by a lot of fantasy as well as the prequel trilogy in world-building and scope but deal with a lot darker subject matters and deal with a lot of complicated and allegorical problems steeped in politics as well as try and deal with the nuances of a space conflict.
I just am so amazed at what you all come up with when you review these episodes. I think you read a bit more into it sometimes then it’s really there. But I still enjoy it.
To be frank, I was totally shocked when I was watching the last seria of the Book Of Boba Fett. Many events in the last seria weren't forecasting and I was really glad to see them all.I wanna draw your attention to the fact that Grogu made one of the hardest choices in his life.He might become a heir of Yoda, but he has to forget Mando or choose the armor and leave Luke and be with Mando. All things considered, I am glad that Grogu made the right choice(from my point of view) and this movie will tears my heart a long-long time.
"Those droids will destroy half the city!" *Droid's military-grade cannons can't punch through even thin sandstone walls, so disappointed Boba and his Rancor proceed to actually destroy half the city themselves.*
Anybody else catch Boba say, "We're not cut out for this." With Fennec replying, "If not us, then who?" and then we find out Cobb Vanth isn't dead? I bet we see Boba and Fennec ride off to work with Mando on some things in Mando Season 3, while Cobb takes over leading Mos Espa for them.
I feel like they should have just made this the Mandolorian Season 3 and just have the season open as Interclude: Boba Fett Chapter 1,2,3, etc for the first half and go back to Mando's story. It would set peoples expectations as it not being Boba's show but it still shares a glimpse of his story.
My impression of the show? Payoff without setup. The finale would have been fine, especially with all the backstory with Cad Bane, had we actually witnessed that backstory. In order for this story arc to work we needed to see four things: 1. Boba being trained by Cad Bane - and taught to be ruthless and self-centered 2. Boba being a selfish jerk, perhaps untrusting and not trustworthy - after everyone he put his faith into betrayed him in some way 3. Boba being changed by his experience with Tuskens - but struggling with the change - having instincutal response that would reflect his former self. Only after being fully accepted his change would be permanent. 4. People of Mos Espa truly becoming his people. Him building genuine rapport with the common folk. It seems hard to believe that Dave Filoni - a good writer as he is - was not aware of the content that would make Boba's arc complete. What on earth happened here? As much as I love the two awesome "interlude" episodes it does feel like 70% of effort went into those stories that were not really connected with actual main story line, which should have received more attention.
Did anyone else notice the CG mess up where after the rancor ripped one of its guns away the gun it ripped away reappeared for a few seconds between cuts then went away again?
Yeah! Why can't Boba evolve. Some Star Wars fans can't see how fantastic this episode was. It is so well written and shows how we grow as life goes on, amazing. I loved that Gaffi stick.
excellent episode I loved seeing Boba Fett over a Rancor , along with Mando facing the Pykes. I liked seeing the duel against Cad Bane (is it really that Cad Bane is dead🤔). Looking forward to checking out the next series that is Kenobi.
Honestly this whole chapter really outlined Cad's age. He's not jumping around, no rocket boots. I don't remember him using his lasso. Just pure gun-slinging because that's probably all he can muster at his age. Personally if he comes back somehow I want him to have the Grievous treatment. As a note when has cad ever waited to the end of almost loosing a job to fight? He really only felt confident in a one on one. It's sad because while his mind didn't get soft his body did.
He already had cybernetic parts in him though that’s the thing if you listen very closely after Bubba stabs him in the chest you can actually hear the electronics scream so if he winds up with the grievous treatment he will be worse off than grievous was. And if you were very call grievous was in pretty bad shape the cybernetics were barely keeping him alive.
And I liked that episode, no unnecessary fanservice that was in episode 6. The finale is good and delivers everything I expected from this show (positively), we have street fights, after-decades, banter, charging rancor. And please, you can do the finale without a cheap fanservice as it was in the Mando season 2 finale and Boby Fett season 6 episode you got what it came for. My back chilled when the X-wing started to fly, but luckily Luuke's Android Skywalker was not in it (and that's good), but until the end credits I was afraid that Ford's Android would pop up (and all the time I think it was the mountain that ordered throw episode 6 into the show, you just see clearly how it doesn't fit in with the whole series). The duel between Fett and Ban was great (I wonder if Cad survived by looking at this flashing thing), but it's a pity that the Machete was not there in this episode.
On rewatch again of ep 7, I realized that the mod's spin move is not just fancy, but is necessitated by the fact that Krrsantan is lifting his rifle over the mod's right shoulder. So he is spinning to his left to avoid it, get lower and reposition to shoot forward again. Check it out, it makes more sense than it seems at first.
I liked the episode and the show overall, but it could have been much better. I always had my doubts about Robert Rodriguez, there are more of his movies that I don't like than the ones I like, they always have a cheap or cheesy feel to them. Being that the chapters he directed of this series are the "worst", I no longer have doubts about him as a director. His vision is not for me...
Same here. It's no accident that he loves bad action movies from the 70s and 80s. Whether his style is supposed to be ironic or not, I don't know. An intentionally written bad joke is still unfunny.
@@kdub3890 If there is a guy with a completely unpredictable filmography, it's Robert Rodriguez. For every Machete, Sin City and Alita, there's a Spy Kids and Shark Boy & Lava Girl
Loved how the review touched on so many themes! I truly liked this finale and the whole season, especially Boba and Cad's confrotation and what it means to Boba's arc
I loved it but is does feel like we were cheated out of more story details between Boba, Cad Bane, and possibly other bounty hunters because of episode 5 and 6. Hope we get a S2
Disney has been producing some awesome shows recently, but I really think their short series formula is taking away from the overall quality. I wish all of their Star Wars and Marvel shows could get 12-20 episodes instead of 6-9. So many more things can get fleshed out in that extra time

Great review Alex. I felt some type of way about the episode, but your deep analysis pushed me to the other side and now I’ve appreciate it a bit more.
This was a great finale imo. Loved the action, had some superb Star Wars moments. The most meaningful scenes were Boba Fett scenes, particularly Fett and Din talking about the Way, and pretty much every moment of Fett with Cad Bane. I found the smaller scale conflict refreshing, as there’s plenty of Star Wars out there if you need huge ass battles with lots going on. Sometimes fights are small but still meaningful. Feel like I need to do a rewatch of the whole season to crystallize my overall opinions on the show, but so far I strongly feel that a lot of issues people have with this show would dissipate if it just said “The Mandalorian: Book of Boba Fett” on the D+ Card.
One thing my friend pointed out after chapter 6 was that Ben Solo was supposed to be Luke's First Student, so we weren't surprised when Grogu showed up.
You know, despite all of the aspects that could’ve been done better, I still think this show was fantastic because it hits on a theme that I think embodies what Star Wars is at its core: making friends and ruling with compassion is infinitely more valuable than making enemies and ruling through fear. After all, it’s what saves Boba’s life time and again, especially in this episode with his rematch against Cad Bane.
I thought the finale was a lot more than just okay. Kind of surprising to hear you say that, but as always I have mad respect for your opinion Alex. Great points.
The Rancor vs the big ass droids is probably the closest thing I’ll get to a kaiju fight in Star Wars and I was so glad I got it. Also Bane and Boba’s final showdown felt right to me
Last week I binged most of the season to get my dad caught up on it and found that when I watched it that way episodes 5 and 6 didn't seem like that much of a detour. I also thought this episode was great, I was in the edge of my seat the whole time. Though it's true the Mando stuff seemed fast to me as well.
I really liked the episode 7.5 / 10 ... Stand out moments , Mando and Boba jetpack and fight scene , Mando and Grogu reunion , and Boba Fett riding the rancor into battle ... My overall critique of the series is that we should've gotten more Boba Fett . But other than that the series was pretty damn cool 😎🙂
A fun fact not many have noticed: in the original scene in star wars aftermath where cobb vanth is introduced, he shoots someone in the right shoulder over boba's armour, right where he was shot by cad bane (that scene has since been redone, but whatever)
The Mandalorian part of the story feels like Disney execs told Favreau he couldn't have a Mandalorian Season 3 without everybody's favorite toy in it from the start, so they had to shove it into Boba's story. Anybody who watches only Mandalorian will go from a heartfelt goodbye, to Mando and Grogu together again.
Some phenomenal scenes (Rancor, Boba and Mando, Cad Bane) mushed between truly awful action. Villains miss easy shots, drop like flies, while 99% of the nameless redshirts survive. Why wasn't attacking the Pyke's HQ plan A? They didn't need to hold up, they needed to kill the local pyke's leadership to drive them offworld. The symbolism of Boba holding out in the city is great but if he wants to be leader why not occupy the actual seat of power the mayor's office? Where is Boba's ship? A line about not wanting collateral damage would at least make it seem like they weighed their options. There are so many beats where the dishonorable Pykes should be raining down hellfire on characters out in the open forcing them to dive for cover but just don't. Lastly, Cobb Vanth surviving completely undermines Cad Bane's entrance. Why not put Cad Bane in the bacta tank, give him a second chance like Boba got? At least it would seem like Boba learned a lesson and Bane is already partly mechanical.
I was expecting this series to get into the details of the criminal underworld since that’s what it was marketed as. However what we got was this milquetoast mish mash of different genres with no clear vision. It was never clear why Boba cared about Mos Espa and it’s people why he would want to stay on the planet he almost died on I’ve no idea. He just happened to be there because he was on a job for Jabba. I was expecting something more like Maul and the shadow collective, his intentions were clear at least, he needed to amass power to get revenge. This whole series is just a big missed opportunity to me.
The show felt like the disney+ marvel shows in that there were too many plotlines to resolve within a single season. This meant that moments like boba defeating cad and din reuniting with grogu did not have the effect they should have, as they felt rushed and tacked on. Also Star wars really needs new writers, the events of episodes 3 and 7 were practically the same, with Boba's fights with krrysantan and Cad playing out the exact same way. Not only that, but Boba and Din have the exact same story of "rely less on being a brooding loner, and more on the connections of friends and family". Thank God that Andor, Kenobi and Acolyte have new writers rather than just relying on Favreau and Filoni
This last episode very much did not feel like a finale to a television show. I literally could not tell what was happening... Robert Rodriguez in my mind should not direct Star Wars again. I don't like his style of directing in this episode. Felt so out of tone, so much god awful humor and dialogue throughout I didn't like it at all.
The show has been the space western that Uncle George dreamed of back in the day. It is fulfilling to finally see it come to life. The final episode was like the climax of an epic western.

💯
I liked when Luke told Mando he would guard Grogu with his life and then sent him across the galaxy with just R2-D2. I love the astromech droid, but come on. I understand why Luke wasn’t present on Tatooine, but seemed a contrived way to put Din and Grogu back together so soon. Their reunion here did not feel earned at all in my opinion!

This is the perfect explanation of how I feel about it. Thank you for putting it in words

Definitely the best Star Wars channels I’ve seen so far. Objective, cohesive, and logical
I'm kinda surprised you didn't mention the beeping after Cad died, was that meant to indicate to the Pykes that the situation got seriously bad or was it calling Todo to pick him up or even some sort of health support kicked in
Yeah, I found that part interesting. Definitely gave me a Chekhov’s Gun impression.

I loved the flashbacks, heck I could watch a whole ep with Boba and the Rancor, almost got it today. There just was no lead up..

Regarding the size of the battle, don't forget this is not an actuall war, it's a gang war. Gangs have a couple dezens members, not thousands.
But the pykes have so much "money" in universe and could pay a thousnd soldies. My biggest problem was that no "good" guys died. Noone from Freetown or not a single important character. The "drodeikas" was just ridiculous how they catched up on everyone running and just could not hit a single target!

Alex said something to that effect in previous vids, it's just fun being in the Star Wars universe.

This is exactly how I feel but have never been able to properly put it into words
I feel the same honestly. For many star wars related categories (Jedi, Sith, show, film) I don't even have a favorite, because I prefer to enjoy Star Wars as a whole franchise, books, films, shows, comics, video games all working together.
I agree, but to me there are 2 trilogies plus rogue one.

I will say, however, that I assume Boba's narrative is not at an end, and that it will bleed through into Mando the same way Mando has bled into it
Really wanted the Tusken Woman Warrior to come back and help Boba with the Pikes, was hoping she joined another Tribe and brought them to Mos Espa to help Boba. Yep this is a Robert Rodriguez episode alright.
Honestly feel like I’m one of the few who enjoyed this finale - felt satisfied that they brought Boba and Mando’s stories together
They didn't even need the interlude.
Din shows up, repays a favor, no setup needed. Maybe Boba mentions he seems depressed or something more subtle.

@@balrogsareop4773 I like both of them honestly but season two really did it for me! Every episode of season two I like!
That was a silly take, it’s like comparing WWII to a turf war between street gangs, two completely different things.
The Hutt Twins are still an issue so there's that possibility. Also in terms of the "Mandoverse" and what all these post-ROTJ series are building up to, Boba is now there as a potential ally. good review, I agree with everything. So many people are losing their heads saying this is the worst thing they have ever seen. Although I agree its not everything I wish it was, they did a good job and I was entertained and excited the whole episode and thats what matters right
"The worst thing they've ever seen?"
Either these folks have been living under a rock since 1999 in regards to the mixed quality of Star Wars or they don't know any better.
@@myriadmediamusings lmfao they’ve probably never seen the sequels
Although I'm not sure where they go with their dynamic as a clan of two?
star wars only lives off of bringing back nostalgia and old things that were good, because it cannot create anything good and new on its own
it is run by soys, its new ideas are brainless, toys with your intelligence, therefore are not worth your time to rationalize it
it does not mean to bring you anything thought provoking, or be insightfull, and as a result, it turns anything in it that would otherwise be, irrelevant, meaningless
it is dumb fun, so see it that way, dont overthink, dont think for a minute there is some smart twist or narrative unfolding before you
that does not mean you cannot enjoy the things you do in it, you can for sure, take what you like about it and hold dear, but do not expect it to be delivered to you
i say that for star wars content under disney's wing
DONT OVERTHINK STAR WARS, ITS FOR KIDS AND KIDS NO SMART
@@hazardlizard2552 real talk!
Wow I thought more people would really like the Episode, it gave everyone what they wanted from Boba: killing, saying cool things, using his jetpack, riding the rancor, defeating Cad Bane (with his gaffi stick no less).
Ehh too little too late…
The two mando filler episodes definitely didn’t help
Great review as always, Alex. In my opinion you have had the best TBOBF reviews, thank you!
I loved it and was smiling all the way through this episode. Easily my favourite of the series
Same here
I like your assessments more than most of the TH-camrs and think you nailed a lot of presumptions and assessments.
It was a perfect Wild West Movie showdown in the style of Magnificent 7. Everything I hoped for
Thank you. I don't get the hate on this one...
Great in-depth breakdown of the themes, especially the mirroring of Fett and the Rancor
I really enjoyed this episode and the show as a whole, but if we get another season, I really hope it explores Boba's relationship with Jango as well as how he feels about being a clone.
That would be fun. The Clone Wars already did a little of that, with Boba interacting with clones and saying that they aren't the same, but more opportunities to explore Boba's past is always welcome.
i agree, i would love more fennec too
You are by far the best reviewer of these series. Thank you for all your insights.
What do you write beano comics
Or pop up books for 3 year olds
I loved it. A perfect ending for both shows.
"Those droids will destroy half the city!"
*Droid's military-grade cannons can't punch through even thin sandstone walls, so disappointed Boba and his Rancor proceed to actually destroy half the city themselves.*
I can’t wait for Robo Cobbp
This episode gave me hardcore The Magnificent Seven vibes. What an epic episode. I had to change my pants twice while watching.
In order for this story arc to work we needed to see four things:
1. Boba being trained by Cad Bane - and taught to be ruthless and self-centered
2. Boba being a selfish jerk, perhaps untrusting and not trustworthy - after everyone he put his faith into betrayed him in some way
Good episode that could've been great. The season is a 6/10 for me.
Same, but without those 2 episodes that were basically just episodes of The Mandalorian it would be like a 4/10. Which is disappointing.
Did anyone else notice the CG mess up where after the rancor ripped one of its guns away the gun it ripped away reappeared for a few seconds between cuts then went away again?
This was amazing, absolutely loved it, great finale.
Dude your line of “let’s not split hairs here, you are all in the middle on nowhere” cracked me up. And now I want that line in season 3.
Yeah! Why can't Boba evolve. Some Star Wars fans can't see how fantastic this episode was. It is so well written and shows how we grow as life goes on, amazing. I loved that Gaffi stick.
I am so, so surprised some people disliked that episode... I thought the whole show was OKish, but that this episode was pure awesomeness...
excellent episode
I loved seeing Boba Fett over a Rancor , along with Mando facing the Pykes.
Woah I just searched your channel name and here an upload is!
I’ll give the finale a 10/10 just for the fact that everyone’s speculations on how it would end were wrong.
I saw some absolutely ridiculous theorizing. Some people genuinely thought mace windu was going to make an appearance.
Hold on hold on hold on, Robo Cobb

I like Bobas little "do it" before the Rancor rips the Droid in half.
I thought the finale was a lot more than just okay. Kind of surprising to hear you say that, but as always I have mad respect for your opinion Alex. Great points.
This is, so far, the most positive review I've seen of the episode and I completely agree with it.
Finally!! I fealt kinda lost after such an episode and without your review..
I was skeptical with the first few episodes... Then that last episode was badass.
I absolutely loved the ending. It was truly satisfying. I’m mostly disappointed we only got 7 episodes. But here’s to hoping for a season 2.
Something on cad bane's chest was still beeping, looking a lot like a heartbeat. I think he is still alive.
I'm happy to ignore Boba's "crazy eyes" when he killed Cad because of it being related to Tam's heritage
Why can't Boba Fett have crazy eyes????
@@Daniel-Strain most Mandos should right? They wouldn't be as used to facial communication with the helmets
Excellent review! I really enjoy it!!
If they do a season 2, I hope they get someone else other than Robert Rodriguez to direct it. Bryce Dallas Howard is more than capable.
Am I the only one that heard a heart beat along with the beeping when they showed “dead” Bane?!
but i think at the end of the day, it's better to have a small battle of actual people than a large-scale war of two mostly-cgi armies
My favorite part was when Mace Windu showed up to destroy the droids and save Boba. 12/10.
That was awesome deep. Great breakdown!! 🙏🏽😭
The Rancor and Droid fight is like a another Kaiju fight. It is so awesome!
