Brisk Winter Mission into the Hauraki Gulf // Hunting Koheru and Kahawai

This adventure covers a days diving, out in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf. Traversing the islands and pinnacles of this epic terrain, we hunt for fish using selective sustainable methods.
We will discuss some hunting techniques that can be used when targeting predatory fish, why they work, and the possible risks associated. We will engage with our environment and make observations to further our understanding of the world. The answers you seek may be found in unexpected places and there is much to learn from our oceans.
During a good day getting out to the further reaches of the gulf doesn't take long on modern trailer boats. The population of Auckland means that this area experiences a lot of pressure from fishermen and boaties of all walks. Diving during weekdays is strongly recommended as even in winter, the weekends can get extremely busy out in the gulf. Dive within your limits and with a flag.
The purpose of this video is to share a story, tips, insights and hopefully inspire more connection with our oceans. It's important to be respectful and if within your means, try and give back to this place. Removing rubbish is somewhere we can all start, and there is unfortunately no shortage in the ocean. A bit hypocritical talking about all this conservation stuff and then taking crayfish in the Hauraki Gulf, which are functionally extinct in the Gulf.

Yes, couldn't agree more to be honest with you. Definitely a lapse of judgment on my part but no excuse, fair criticism. As of some months ago I have removed all footage and mention of crays from this video because as pointed out, it does not convey a good message. Thank you for the comment and keeping me accountable, initially I was offended but I appreciate you writing this!
