- In this video I Review and Demo a used 2015 Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar NOS finished in 3 tone sunburst.

While Kurt Cobain was in Nirvana he stumbled across a modified Left handed 1965 Fender Jaguar in 3 tone Sunburst at a Pawn Shop in Los Angeles, this iconic guitar was used while Nirvana were ruling the world.
So I check out the Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar playing through the 3 different position with a mixture of clean and distortion.
I Plugged the Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar into a Boss Katana 50 getting distortion from a Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion Pedal.

Excellent review, fast moving covering different stuff. imho, the combination of precision Gotoh tuners, high quality Dimarzio humbuckers, and having 22 frets instead of just 21 frets is what makes it unique. The finish and pickup colors look great together too.

I was lucky to find a 66' Sunburst Jag with a modified Gibson humbucker in the neck and remaining Fender single coil in the bridge, as well as a Gibson bridge for $1,000. This was in 1999 so, obviously after the Kurt inflation.
I had a few 60s fenders back in the day again before the Kurt Tax 😂
He made Jaguars so expensive. Damn Kurt come on. Honest unintentional mistake so forgiven.

Getting one of these in a few months. Planning on installing a coil splitter interface, replacing the nut with a GraphTech teflon nut, and strap locks. Then it'll be gravy. So psyched

Man...from the Jaguar to the Jazzmaster all the 90s bands like NIRVANA, SONIC YOUTH got these so dirt cheap back then. Now they are $1400-$1800 and sold at a premium. This one I probably pick up for $800-$900 honestly, as its really cool but kind of basic. The Jazzmaster offset types are really unique to me, but very pricey for what you get. Sucks to buy an offset thats not a Squier in 2022! Even MIM are priced where AM were just 3 years ago. If I had my choice, the Jonny Marr Jaguar would be all mine!

Honest Opinion:
Of all the 'Nirvana' pickups, which sounds the most like studio Nirvana: the Seymour Duncan JB that they put in the bridge position of the Cobain Mustang, the Dimarzio Super Distortion that they put in the bridge potion of this jaguar, or the Seymour Duncan Hot Rails?
I saw another video where someone compared the JB, the JB Jr. and the Hot Rails in three fender mustangs. And the Hot Rails sounded the best from that set.
My plan is to sell one of my guitars and buy a squier bullet mustang. I'm not afraid to swap pickups if I am dissatisfied with the sound of the stock ones. And I'm also not afraid to put a single coil size Hot Rails in a humbucker slot. I am not very picky about how my guitars look.
Just wanted to know what you think.
GreenLeaf5656 For 'Nevermind' I'd go with The DiMarzio super distortion (same for bleach) but for in Utero probably the Seymore Duncan JB, it also depends on what guitar you have. If you have a mustang then go for the Hot Rails or JB but if u have a jag go for the super distortion. Kurt used that same equipment live as he did in the studio although he changed amp and pedal settings depending on the situation. Hope this helped.

i'v got the Jag, and now i got Duo sonic ( it's really the same thing than the mustang ) i Put JB on it, JB without distortion sound better than the dimarzio DP100 but it's not good as the DP100 with distortion in my opinion.
GreenLeaf5656 Hot Rails probably. They were in his SLTS competition mustang, which was his fav guitar. He recorded Nevermind & IU with it. The jaguar is def on both too

Hello sir., great review by the way :). I was curious on how it compares to the unofficial Fender Japan Kurt Cobain Jaguar. Apparently, Fender japan had released an unofficial one with three versions (version IV, V and VI). I own the version IV one, which is a Fender Jaguar 65 with Dimarzio Pups and tune o matic bridge but retained the traditional PU selector for the lead circuit as well as the big headstock and binding. The model was called the Fender Japan HJG-KC version IV and it looks pretty much like a vintage jaguar with a Kurt Cobain mojo :)
I haven't played one of the Japanese KC Jags I'm afraid.
They do look pretty darn cool and bet they play and sound awesome

I'm in need of advice. So, i've been playing for about 6 months now and have been practicing 2-5 hours a day. I'm playing an Epiphone Special II that i got in a starter pack. I mostly play rock and i really got into Nirvana this past month and i feel like it's time to get more serious gear. My question is, would this guitar be a good investment for a beginner like me? If not, any suggestions?

They are awesome guitars, not sure of the actual weight but they are very heavy for sure. Might be worth you trying one out. I'd say they are heavier than the Fender Classic Player Jag

I bought a Squire Jaguar (70s Vibe) for about 400.- CHF (swiss currency). Then I replaced all the pickups with the ones used in the Signature model (before that, of course, I milled the pickguard and the body) and replaced the circuit with a 3-way switch (like on the Signature guitar). Then I replaced the bridge (also like on the Signature guitar) and bored a third hole to install a third poty. now I have the Whammy still replaced by a Fender original and the Lockpicks (as on the Signature guitar).
i have also replace all the nobs with Fender Telecaster nobs and it was done!
The whole thing took a week and now sounds like the original. and I have hammt haft 500.-CHF saved
Hi Rob! Long time follower here. This is the video I always reference whenever I get the urge to actually buy one and now I think the right opportunity has finally come up. Just a question - how's the neck profile feel? I'm not a huge fan of thin necks but I'd definitely make this one work.

Huge fan of tour channel! I’m getting the Cobain Jag for Christmas. I’ve dug out my old pedals (ds-1, ds-2, big muff, and a small clone). I constantly see rave reviews for the Katana. Any opinions on the Nextone? I’ll be using a Fender Champion 20 to start off then hand it down to my kid. I’m playing in a small 10x10 room at home so I don’t need anything huge. Do you think the Champion is worth keeping around? I can return it if need be as it’s still unopened. Thanks!
Ooh nice guitar love the KC Jag, sounds like you have a great setup already. Maybe try out the Katana for yourself first and compare against the Fender. To be honest the champion is good enough for home use. Glad you like the channel 🎸😎

Kurt would never ever buy this at this price. He saved the mustang and jaguar from extinction and even created a better guitar (a hybrid of the best features between the two) which I am proud to say I own. The Fender Jag-Stang. It's more beautiful than a Swedish massage. Hi Axel.
