    I want to make something like this for my woodstove. I live in Canada and heat with wood. Ideally, I would have a row of them being cooled by the cold air intake from outside while being heated by the chimney or a stovetop heatsink. I would power a fan with part of it for the air intake and then trickle charge my batteries through my charge controller. It would help with the lack of sun on my solar panels here in the winter time. Another idea I have is cold water on one side and hot water on the other. It would make more power but I am not sure what to do with all the water. Air handling seems simpler since it is happening there already

    I know these very well and no way is it 500W the best TEGs are only 20w output each so if were 20w which they are not would be 200w .

      They sell large ones...from 50w/100w all the way too 400w from one unit ones from Germany n other places not just China

      ⁠@@jshaw4757that does not mean they can generate as much as they consuming. Even with 400W TEC, the output power will be less than 10W because you're not providing a propper temperature difference. When those TEC's works as coolers, the maximum temperature difference is 30c so when the hot side has 0c the cold side has exactly -30c. This also applies for the generator, when the temperature is 30-40 degrees appart from the hot-cold side, you'll see pretty much nothing because they are almost 90% inefficient, which means a waste ammount of heat is not converted in to the electricity. They do work as coolers inefficient anyway but they are super inefficient when they work as generator. This is only good for emergency charging and dont even think about it connecting them 30 series/parralell ( 10S 3P ). But hey... this is somewhat cool but in my oppinion, you can pretty much charge your phone 100times for the price of one pack of candles. But there comes a better part. When this will be used in winter as a generator, aaand you have a suitable fireplace in your living room, you can use ice or snow instead of water and this gives you even better results. With 10 90W tecs, you''l be able to generate almost 100W of power and you can even charge your big powerbank or lead acid battery with it. But you must to provide atleast 30c temperature difference, bigger the difference, more power you can make.

    Unfortunately, this video is claiming to generate power from a candle flame is not legitimate. In the video, the individual uses a Peltier device instead of a Seebeck or TEG generator. Additionally, the maximum current generated by these Peltier pads would not be enough to run a 24V motor of that size. To power a 12 Watt motor, a minimum of 12 Watts of power would be required. However, the individual in the video is producing only 1 Watt of power, including burning power. The Peltier device is known for its low power efficiency, producing less than 3% of the input power. This means that even with 100 Watts of fire under that contraption, it would generate less than 3 Watts of electrical power.
    On average, a candle flame generates only 0.04 to 0.06 watts of power, which is a relatively small amount of energy. To generate 0.5 Watts of power, it would be necessary to use ten candles. It is unfortunate that social media platforms do not fact-check misinformation when it is not related to politics and fail to ban videos like this one, as they do with content that goes against their governmental agenda. It is important to be vigilant and critical when evaluating claims made in online videos and to seek reliable sources for accurate information.

      1. "Peltier Device" is a TEC(Thermoelectric Couple).
      2. "TEG" is a TEC( Thermoelectric Couple)
      3. "Seekbeck" is a TEC(Thermoelectric Couple)
      Items 1 thru 3 are infact exactly the same thing. They are simply layman's terms for application specific uses of a TEC.
      "A TEG"(Thermoelectric Generator) is an application specific layman's term used in place of thermoelectric couple when using it in a configuration to take advantage of it's Seebeck effect properties to generate electricity.
      "A Seebeck" is an application specific layman's term used in place of thermoelectric couple when using it in a configuration to take advantage of it's Seebeck effect properties to generate electricity.
      "A Peltier Device" is an application specific layman's term used in place of thermoelectric couple when using it in a configuration to take advantage of it's Peltier effect perperties to transfer heat from one side to the other (to heat or cool something) instead.
      A TEC ..is exactly that..a coupling..or rather a conversion between electricity and temperature in either direction..regardless of what one chooses to call it.

      If I were to build a larger setup, than what's shown, using 50 TEG's but heated by 300°F (+ -) from a wood stove chimney, and cooled with an endless supply of 40° - 45°F water constantly circulating, how many projected watts could it possibly produce?

      Nor would I use acrylic. I'd weld steel watertight containers on the top side. Anyway, how many watts do you think? Hypothetically, for a maximum heat difference of 150°C, what could be the projected watts?

    This is the best one I've seen yet but it's still not right. No one is making them properly
    What you want is 2x2 panels stacked 4 panels high
    Have the cold and hot sides all touching and have the main hot side bottom and the main cold side top. Having them stacked like this means they'll balance the heat out amongst all of them evenly and produce more power overall
    For the cold side you should just have a square metal tube with the top cut off and a heat sink in the middle where it contacts with the panels then run cold water through the tube
    The hot side can be run with vegetable oil if you use carbon felt. It's able to wick vegetable oil to be used as a candle and it's super safe because the oil can't burn unless it's being wicked by the felt. If it tips over the fire can touch the spilt oil for a very long time before it'll light on fire

      Or cut a hole in the hood of your car. The top facing the outside should be able to cool off as you are driving. Then we can get rid of the alternator improving gas efficiency and now we can charge the car while driving.

    Notice how he blocks the meter while running the motor? i see when he started the wattage was only 18 @ 30.6 volt and occasionally you can see part of the meter screen with wattage dropping to under 1

    Lol 500 watts huh. Not in your lifetime. The best you can expect is 5 watts per module and that's at about a 150 F difference in temp. Fake AF.

      I'm from England so I use degrees but if a large heat sink on bottom sat in ice water with a PC fan blowing across and you use a hair dryer on top you think it won't get close too written pottentisl I mean I bout cheap Chinese ones years ago but I didn't really know what I was doing back then but if I remember it charged phone n ran LED n stuff

      @@skorpionmk9390 an invertor does that. But it's not considered a step up transformer. The circuit takes the DC and turns it into AC then sends it to a step up transformer. It's more than just a transformer.

    i just tested the same module yesterday , using hot water, the temperature difference might be 60 degree , and it output about 1.6v and 60ma , so for my condition, if i joined 10 of these modules like you, it will output 16v*0.06a = 0.96 watts, since this video use fire for heating, i guess the power watts cannot be 500 watts, maybe 50 or less

      unfortunately this video is another fake. He is using Peltier instead Seebeck or TEG, second the maximum current generated from these peltier pads wouldn't run a 24V motor of that size. He would need at least 12Watts of power for that motor, but he is producing 1 Watt if all is correct including burning power. Peltier is less than 3% power efficiency. So 100 Watts of fire under that contraption would generate less than 3 Watts. A candle flame typically generates around 0.04 to 0.06 watts of power on average. It would be necessary 10 candles to generate only 0.5Watts.
      I have seen people wasting a large sum of money trying to replicate fake online videos. It would be wise to do mathematical calculations using physics before attempting to build something. I know people that believes on youtube videos when showing scammers powering cars with hydrogen gas and other misinformed products. These innocent people could have died if nobody wouldn't have stopped them. To replicate these contraption will not work and only waste money or place lives in risk. It is a shame that youtube wont use fact check for misinformation when it isn't related to politics and ban videos like this. The only time you see it working is when they dislike someone against their governmental agenda.
      It would be amazing if we could really use TEG to generate enough power in times of emergency but it is far cheaper to have a solar panel of 20W and small 12v batteries of 2000mAh in the scale of 1 to 100. You could buy the solar panel and a battery for less than $20 online and have far more efficiency.

    he have 10 peltier at 2 watt each its 20watt... seem enough to feed the diesel heater on low setting with his own waste heate... maybe with more like 20 peltier will be enough power to circulate water to move the waste heat collectors flow

      You could use them as a solar heat collector. It wouldn't be converting the light into power it would be converting the heat produced from the sun into electricity.
      These peltier units operate using the Seebeck effect. Nowadays they are made from semi conductors like solar panels but they don't work in the same way.
      You don't need ice you just need a hot side and a cold side. If you power them you can exhaust the heat produced to make the other side cold or hot depending on the application.

      I've found that this is the basic units that NASA uses to build their RTGs (radioisotope thermal generator)
      The basic concept is that your source of heat is uranium 235 which produces about 9.5wh of heat per gram. So you'd put that in the center and then some heat conductive shielding around that.
      Then the peltier units, then aluminum heat sinks around that probably with PC fans which only take 1.8-5wh to run so the gains will be more than the loss.
      Basically uranium 235 has a 706 billion year half life of energy that it just emits. The peltier units last for about 25 years so in theory you'd have a reusable fuel forever and a device that lasts 22-25 years constantly producing power 24 hours a day.

      At 9.5wh a gram you'd need 146g to theoretically produce 1200wh at 24 hours you'd make 28,800wh a day. Approximately, my math could be off. NASA uses these devices to power their rovers and other space missions. The bigger the difference in temperature the more efficient the power generation is.
      You could use the sun or burn a fuel but then when those resources run dry you have nothing for power. So passive nuclear that doesn't involve making a star on earth makes a lot more sense.
      The world and people living nearby really can't afford something going horribly wrong due to an oopsies in the process of nuclear.
      An RTG wouldn't be shooting electrons into anything splitting atoms and trying to contain the absolutely Ludicrous explosion of a nuclear bomb. It would just be passively producing power off of a rock that naturally exists.
