Thanks for this testing lad, lots of people may be interested in this. Great video, though guys keep in mind that this been done on open bench and with tiniest gpu you could get, in closed case and with beefy gpu, which i assume you would be running if you have 5950x money, the temps should be significantly worse. I know you probably wont do this in closed case and good gpu but it would be way more realistic use case and interesting test.

In regards to GPUs and enclosures / cases, that will vary quite a bit.

@@PCTechHustle I'm still debating the 5950x. Is there any real benefit of any of the other air coolers over the Prism? Your numbers seem to indicate that the Prism is nearly as capable as the rest. I'm eyeing the Deepcool AK620.
I just bought a PC with a 5950x and Thermaltake TH120 AIO, both of which I swapped into my main PC. I was playing a VR game last night (in which I was rendering anywhere from 50-80 people's avatars in large worlds) and my CPU temps were sitting around 206-208 degrees. I took the side panel off my PC and temps dropped to around 180 degrees. I'm thinking of swapping the Vetroo V5, that I was using to cool my previous CPU (3900x) and getting around 180 degrees in VR with, back into my main PC to cool the 5950x but I'm not sure it will be better than the AIO (and I can only fit a 120mm AIO in my case).
@@PCTechHustle it was a TH120, 120mm AIO, I just ended up swapping the Vetroo V5 back in and my temps came down by around 14f. Decided to just buy a Peerless Assassin 120 SE and better exhaust fan, that should see the temps come down close to another 14f at peak loads.
chromax black noctua air cooler with curve optimized overclock. Under heavy loads sometimes 4.9ghz sustained. 5.0ghz for quick burst tasks.... the noctua chromax black is quite impressive.
Thank you so much for this informative video! I'm about to upgrade to 5900x and wanted to know if I needed to buy another cooler to replace the CM Hyper 212 Black Edition I started my build with. Looks like i can hold out a bit more before I need to worry. Thanks again!
I Always had the AMD stock and i think it's really good because is free and my r5 2600x never goes over 62° Maybe is because i only do gaming and not rendering...
The 2600x comes with the spire cooler, which is a pretty decent cooler. Also the 2600x TDP is lower than the some of the higher tier ryzen 3000 and 5000 series chips
Honestly no. 120mm AIOs feel like more of a gimmick than having actual good practical use. If space is a constraint I would suggest a good tower cooler over a small 120mm AIO.
@@PCTechHustle I ended up snagging an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 but had to buy additional slim fans. Luckily ended up with like 2mm of space before it hit my GPU. Thanks for the tip!
I'd like an air cooler on my 5950x, but there'd be ram clearance issue...4 sticks of ram lol. How ever with ryzen master i can set the all core clock to 4.2 and keep it both cool and quiet with that cooler master
it sucks that these low prices only apply to places ;like the US, UK etc. If i wanted a hyper 212 id pay $60 incl shipping and $80 for the vetroo v5. I could get a Deepcool Gammaxx L240 aio from a local pc hardware store for $100.
When I got my son his 3300x, I had to buy it bundled with a mobo due to shortages, so it came already with the wraith stealth... are we missing much performance by using that or given it's the ryzen 3 ... it can max itself out quite well on it?
I’d at least put something like a Vetroo or Hyper212 on it for an easy budget upgrade. You likely have a hair bit of performance still left on the table but not as much of a difference as with a higher TDP chip.
Running a 5900x on an artic freezer esports duo and on full load with no overclock it quickly gets up to 85c then after about 6 hours it's starts bouncing off the thermal limiter at 90c....... its a shame because I used the same cooler on the 3600 and it held a significant overclock and never went above 69c on full load. I think it might be because the surface area of the cooler isn't very big so it might not actually be fully touching the important parts of the 5900x but I'm just speculating. So it looks like I might be looking for an aio or hard tubed cooler
I have the ml240l v2, but honestly it didnt cool much better than my single tower air cooler. still, for the aesthetic, it is quite nice. Tip for beginners, learn to undervolt. you will be able to reach those 4.6-4.8ghz frequencies while staying much cooler.
Very good point here. Undervolting absolutely will lower temps without losing performance if done properly. My only negative to it is, it’s not super beginner friendly if a thing to do or people may simply not feel comfortable. However if you are willing to it’s a good way to reduce those temps for free!
@@PCTechHustlecan u guide? I have a b550 gaming plus with a ryzen 9 5950x with the same cooler @silver1080p mentioned, my idle temps are too high and i dont get the performance i payed for
I see so that's what's been happening with my Cinebench results. I had 360AIO which I removed in favor of Noctua Nh U12-A but after this I started getting much lower scores in Cinebench and wierd thing was with each run scores get even lower. Air cooling and Cinebench don't mix well I guess as Blender Benchmarks are doing great. Geekbench is also good. CPU boosts to 5.50 ghz normally though.

I know you didn't game in this vid but my cpu is i7 10700 (I know no Ryzen hehe) and GPU 3070 and will be gaming 1440 ultrawide. Do you have a suggestion or is this vetroo good enough
An a320 motherboard likely will have limited options with voltage. I would at minimum buy a b-series board if you are looking to do something like that.
Ehh... it'll run, and probably won't throttle, if you set everything up right. But, you should probably look for something that can handle more, tbh. I mean, you'll probably be ok. But you'll be running it hot. And that's assuming you're running it stock.
I have the masterliquid 240 v2 and the same processor and my idle temps are dumb it goes from 65c too 75c sometimes its way lower idk whats causing it and im afraid too use the computer for too long, when i game it goes too like 80 idk what too do, i have looked everywhere for a fix cant find it
Would have been better if the conclusion comes up with a chart or something to visualise the result. You spent so much time doing all those tests but couldn't spend a few minutes more to come up with the chart.
It will do just fine with the 5800x considering it does well with the 5950x. Though check out my buddy Jon with The Net Gut’s channel where he tests that specifically! th-cam.com/video/fXplwzZuBQE/w-d-xo.html

Nah im using aircooling in my 5950x and my max temp is only 65c under 100% load with my hyper v running 10 virtual machine , I think this should be depends on room temperature, and for me handling projects in virtual machine aircooling is much safer than water cooling which has a smaller chance of cooling malfunction.
but any of them unlocked the true potential of the 5950X, the boost clock is 4,9ghz, and all tested coolers solutions just let 4,6Ghz max, in the end, all of them are useless, they just let you run the processor until you buy a better solution.

Might check your mounting pressure of the AIO. Almost any AIO (240mm and above) should cool the 5950x quite well.
@@PCTechHustle it was a TH120, 120mm AIO, I just ended up swapping the Vetroo V5 back in and my temps came down by around 14f. Decided to just buy a Peerless Assassin 120 SE and better exhaust fan, that should see the temps come down close to another 14f at peak loads.
thanks for doing these types of videos to help us save a bit of cash
chromax black noctua air cooler with curve optimized overclock. Under heavy loads sometimes 4.9ghz sustained. 5.0ghz for quick burst tasks.... the noctua chromax black is quite impressive.
I have Cooler master for 20$, and I think thats the best price/performance option for the low budget.
It is a very solid option!
Thank you so much for this informative video! I'm about to upgrade to 5900x and wanted to know if I needed to buy another cooler to replace the CM Hyper 212 Black Edition I started my build with. Looks like i can hold out a bit more before I need to worry. Thanks again!
Awesome! Glad you found it helpful! Enjoy your upgrade! The 5000 series chips are beasts! I love mine!
I'm running a hyper 212 with two fans...do you think that will be sufficient for a 5900x?
For sure!
I Always had the AMD stock and i think it's really good because is free and my r5 2600x never goes over 62°
Maybe is because i only do gaming and not rendering...
The 2600x comes with the spire cooler, which is a pretty decent cooler. Also the 2600x TDP is lower than the some of the higher tier ryzen 3000 and 5000 series chips
Thanks a bunch. This was helpful. Good to know I can air cool it. But I did get an aio. K240 msi.
Glad you found it helpful!
Would you suggest a 120mm aio? I don't have much space in the case I have, but I do plan to get a 5900X
Awesome video, thx!
Thanks for watching!
So simple air cooler with undervolt is doing just fine.
Just put a dark rock pro on my 2700x in preparation for the eventual upgrade to the 5950x
Nice! Great cooler!
I'd like an air cooler on my 5950x, but there'd be ram clearance issue...4 sticks of ram lol. How ever with ryzen master i can set the all core clock to 4.2 and keep it both cool and quiet with that cooler master
Can I ask which camera did you use for this video?
Sony a6400. It’s also linked in the description under “my channel gear”
@@PCTechHustle oh sorry, I've checked the description but didnt see below social links.
it sucks that these low prices only apply to places ;like the US, UK etc. If i wanted a hyper 212 id pay $60 incl shipping and $80 for the vetroo v5. I could get a Deepcool Gammaxx L240 aio from a local pc hardware store for $100.
Sorry to hear that! For that AIO though, sounds like a good deal!
MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard good enough for i9 9900k with a slight over clock
Should be fine!
Are you making a joke that I'm too poor to understand
5900x is quite a hot chip to cool. I’d definitely suggest a premium air cooler or an AIO.
I'm surprised the Hyper 212 is cooling 5950x. So how d'u think - can I use 212 RGB black edition with 5900x?
Absolutely!
@@PCTechHustle thank you
great test ;D
Thanks!
Auto Focus? Wonder if leaving the focus in manual would have worked better. It keeps pulsing in and out of focus. Sony camera?
Yeah! I think I’ve fixed it now with manual. Good eye!
Hey can you tell us how your 360mm corsair aio got on with cinebench?
Funny you asked. I did happen to record that data when I first built my PC with this CPU, it got a 25054 in R23.
I have a b550 gaming plus with a ryzen 9 5950x with the same cooler @silver1080p mentioned, my idle temps are too high and i dont get the performance i payed for
Hey can I ask you, is dark rock pro 5 gonna be great for my 5950x? My 360mm aio died too soon :/
I'm like can't rely on aio anymore or so.
Aresgame makes a 5 heat pipe cooler for $30 that's pretty dang good. Running one on my 10th gen Intel setup and it performs great.
I’ve reviewed that one actually! I do really like that one too!
@@PCTechHustle oh that's right, I am 99% sure that's how I found this channel 😂.....keep up the great work man!
How would you rank these coolers on acoustics/ quietness?
I’d say the Vetroo wins there! With the exception of an AIO which obviously by design is intended to cool very quietly
@@PCTechHustle Wow- Vetroo FTW, then! Thanks!
esports duo blows that vetroo away
Cool! (Pun intended). 🤪🤪🤪
What is the music you used in the Intro?
It’s from Epidemic sound (link in description) called “Come 2gether by Ooyy
hi! i have a question! did you do this test with pbo enabled? thank you!
Yes I did. PBO is enabled by default on this motherboard. I did leave it to defaults though.
hello how much rpm was the wraith prism ? when testing
Hi, I am a newbie and need help on a cooler. I am told if I want to game in ultra wide 1440 that it's best to get a really good AIO liquid
cooler. I know you didn't game in this vid but my cpu is i7 10700 (I know no Ryzen hehe) and GPU 3070 and will be gaming 1440
ultrawide. Do you have a suggestion or is this vetroo good enough
I’d expect the Vetroo to do quite well. Assuming you are running the non-k variant being only a 65w chip.
I'm using a wraith prism cooler with my 5900x no issues
Yep! A solid cooler for that chip!
Can you compare chinese budget AIO coolers like the tecware mirage and darkflash twister, etc.
I’m sure I’ll be checking out more soon!
Snowman too pls
wanna get the prism .. is it really loud ? i have R5 2600 , I don't like the look of 212
It’s is audible but not bad in my opinion.
Shows you AMD has come a long way on these chips. Nice
Edit: AMD
Indeed!
5:03 and with a A320 + undervolt?
An a320 motherboard likely will have limited options with voltage. I would at minimum buy a b-series board if you are looking to do something like that.
@@PCTechHustle Xd. But even the a320 gigabyte haves option to low the Vcore.
Go for it then!
whats best CPU cooler for my ryzen 5 3600? Thanks
I’d say any one of these minus the stock wraith.
What aftermarket cooler would you recommend for the 3500x on a msib550 mag?
The Vetroo V5 is a heck of a cooler if you aren't looking to spend a bunch. As you can see here, it keeps things perfectly cool!
3500x doesn't run hot. Check to see if you have it on Performance mode or Balanced. Ryzen Balanced power mode helps a lot.
@@PokèMyBalls thank you but it doesn’t run atall yet I’m waiting for delivery thank you haha
So a cooler master hyper 212 paired with a ryzen 7 5800x3d in a mesh case should be ok according to this?
Ehh... it'll run, and probably won't throttle, if you set everything up right.
But, you should probably look for something that can handle more, tbh.
I mean, you'll probably be ok. But you'll be running it hot. And that's assuming you're running it stock.
Can any of these over clock?
Yes! Also depends on the CPU most basically all the aftermarket coolers will allow for some overclocking headroom
@@PCTechHustle ahh i see because i was thinking of overclocking the 5600x with the Vetrpo if ever needed render or edit a movie.
Will the dark rock 4 handle a 5900x?
For sure!
@@PCTechHustle thank you very much
I have the masterliquid 240 v2 and the same processor and my idle temps are dumb it goes from 65c too 75c sometimes its way lower idk whats causing it and im afraid too use the computer for too long, when i game it goes too like 80 idk what too do, i have looked everywhere for a fix cant find it
Would have been better if the conclusion comes up with a chart or something to visualise the result. You spent so much time doing all those tests but couldn't spend a few minutes more to come up with the chart.
Thanks for the feedback! I’ll try to include something like that for future style videos!
Would the Vetroo throttle a 5800x?
It will do just fine with the 5800x considering it does well with the 5950x. Though check out my buddy Jon with The Net Gut’s channel where he tests that specifically!
th-cam.com/video/fXplwzZuBQE/w-d-xo.html
@@PCTechHustle awesome, thank you!
Would of been good to test against what your actually going to use, see the difference,
The idea with using a stress test is to apply the maximum heat possible to see the effectiveness of the coolers in a max heat scenario
@@PCTechHustle I mean get the numbers when using a high end cooler to see how much you're loosing with a cheaper fan

I always like AIO coolers
Boa noite
Aerocool Verkho 4 for ryzen 9 5900x but only games
Available ?
Or ryzen 7 5700g ?
5900x is WAY more of a CPU than the 5700g
@@PCTechHustle but the verkho 4 for the ryzen 9 5900x?
The performance of 212 is overly impressive
It’s just so good!
my 5950x 62-63C wih corsair waterc
Nah im using aircooling in my 5950x and my max temp is only 65c under 100% load with my hyper v running 10 virtual machine ,
I think this should be depends on room temperature, and for me handling projects in virtual machine aircooling is much safer than water cooling which has a smaller chance of cooling malfunction.
공랭으로 가능한가요?
but any of them unlocked the true potential of the 5950X, the boost clock is 4,9ghz, and all tested coolers solutions just let 4,6Ghz max, in the end, all of them are useless, they just let you run the processor until you buy a better solution.
Boost! Meaning a theoretical max, not a sustained max.
God loves yall and Jesus Christ is returning soon and repent .
I thought the 5800x was running the hottest out of the 5000 series chips. There’s been overheating issues with the 5800x
Same architecture with the 5950x but additional chipsets and core so much more potential for heat typically with higher core count chips.
wrong conclusion, clearly influenced... price to performance stock prism is toe to toe with vitroo whatever!!!
Ml240l ryzen 5 5600x :)
chip being ryzen isn't important.
tdp is.
old cpus ran hotter.
Some of the high core count Ryzens run pretty darn hot man
Really no worth using a AIO
Thank for your review
Some air cooler can compete with the AIOs for sure!
Yep and personally I am more sensitive to the frequency of a water pumps. Further more a good AIO is anyway more expensive than a Noctua D15.
Ain’t that a fortnite song?😂
Something I found on epidemic sound 🤷♂️
I see in 0.1 fps
Huh?
Is amd wraith prism good for ryzen 9 5950x?
As you can see it definitely works!
