I need this for two reasons. 1. I happen to LOVE the 5.7x28mm cartridge. 2. It says made in Prescott, AZ USA. I wish more firearms had 'Made in Arizona' marks of some kind. We would fill up an entire safe of purely AZ born and bred guns. FWIW, it is entirely possible to build an AR with strictly Arizona sourced parts. Stay classy my friends.
Nice piece of AR info I'm gonna look for the Arizona AR parts. Throw me some names of you would want to make my hint a little easier. Thanks in advance.🇺🇸
@@andyb9994 Oh gosh. We are in the middle of relocating and I don't have my spreadsheet available with all the manufacturers and part numbers. If I remember correctly, I may have started the AZ-AR project before I started keeping a ledger of the project names, SKU's, manufacturers, cost, etc. In all fairness, it wasn't too difficult to acquire everything. I will say that the barrel was the hardest part but not impossible. I should also say that the barrel came via a friend of my Father who has/had a machine shop. Guntec USA is a local Scottsdale company that comes to mind. They may be a great asset, although I cannot say with certainty because I don't recall if we used them. It has been at least a decade if not longer since that project transpired. Since then a plethora of 2A companies have been born into our great state No. 48. It warms my heart to think about the sheer number of 2A companies that call Arizona home. Also boggles my mind why others continue to move to Texas rather than AZ. But then again, I'm okay with outsiders moving to other states. I like to think Arizona is full. There should be a sign at all AZ border crossings - _NO VACANCY!_ But I digress. Nonetheless, once this relocation process is complete, I will be sure to circle back to this comment with an update. Stay classy my friend.
I bought one several months ago. I love it. This is my new prepper weapon. It's like having two rifle with you. I am a Det. And recently I have several homicide with that caliber. It does the trick.
A guy in my town told me to take his fn 5.7x28mm, and use it , actually he wanted to sell it to me , didn't feel right or comfortable in my hand ,so I didn't even shoot it. I went to a gunshop a few towns away, held the ruger , felt good , so I bought it.
I have both the FN and the Ruger 57, and it may have something to do with me, but the FN tends to have ejection problems especially with the higher capacity magazines. I have not experienced this with the Ruger 57. I'm taking a break from shooting both, due to the high cost of ammo, which is currently running 50-60 cents per round.
I have both the ruger and the fn, and if I had to pick one to shoot at the range, I would definitely pick the ruger, but to be fair, I have owned the fn since 2005.
Hi,sootch00 just saw your review on the RUGER57. I have one and the FN5.7X28 both are very good guns I carry the FN every day on the job. The reason I trust it so much it is military tested and been around a long time and never failed me. The RUGER is a fine gun I haven't any issues with it. Ido carry it civilian style. It seems to hang up sometimes with AMERICAN EAGLE AMMO but runs 💯 percent with FN AMMO. You were also talking about the ARMSCORE AMMO TCM&TCM9R. I have the TCM 1911 double stack & converson kit for the glocks 17&19 & 22C they run Fantastic!!! You also mention the P90 civilian model PS90 that very expensive!!!!!!! What I DID WAS TAKE MY glock 17 conversion and put it into the MCK KIT!!!! And know I have the same fire power as the P90 and a lot CHEAPER. MCK GEN 2 GO FOR AROUND 250.00 maybe you can do a review on that conversion. Personally I think the TCM&TCM9R beat the 57 standard round 1600ft TCM 2050ft & TCM9R 1875 ft and you can get the ammo. Thanks Ham&egger
Just saw this on sale for 620 bucks, with MPA57 and matching magwells, one could get 2 guns with almost the price of one FN57 or PS90. Much more appealing if it could be bought in such bundles with a fair price, leaving plenty budget for rest of gimmicks and ammunition
I used to carry a steel 5" 1911 and didn't have issues. I don't see this as being much different, size wise. The lower weight and higher capacity are a plus.
That tcm round is crazy out of a Glock conversion. You hear this giant BOOOOM but feels like a pellet gun in your hand. Tiny little projectile is flat gettin down range quick!
The 22 TCM is a cool little monster, but since it is produced by Armscor in the Philippines, getting it is problematical to say the least. If SAAMI recognizes it and some other makers start producing FA chambered in it, the TCM could be very popular.
For me now I've had the gun for a couple of months. I fund 57 ammo as much as I do 9mm. In fact the only ammo I have been able to easily find is shotgun shells. Everything else is almost equally hard to find FOR ME. Both the 9mm and the 57 round are selling on average a dollar a round at every single place online and at most gun stores. There is two retail chains that get in 9mm regularly but to get it, you have to literally go to the store every single day to check to see if a truck has come in if you want to get it when they put it out and its gone within a couple of hrs. I have 200 rounds of 57 and 250 of 9mm and will be getting at least one box a month of each until I get to 1000 rounds or until I feel like .GOV is not gonna put ridiculous restrictions on getting it.
Love you reviews, very thorough..I own both FN and the Ruger love them both FN has a better trigger but nothing wrong with the ruger, the pro mags are 30 rounds they work perfect as well as the factory FN's. I wish the ammo was more affordable cause I would love to shoot them like I shoot .22's. I paid $629 for the ruger great price IMO, probably 1st one in my area very early in the release. Love them both just a bummer with availability of the ammo.👍
Nice Bro! Did not know a lot of that. I'm thinking the 57 was a fad but I guess not. Ruger just does not stop being awesome. I have a Ruger Super Black Hawk in 44 mag and a LCP in 380 and well..they kill it. Good vid, Bro!
Also this makes sense to me in “normal” times but $2 a shot almost always right now that’s an expensive food bill!! I’ll still buy the gun if I can find one!
Don't worry about the price of ammo, one day your gonna say I should have bought that gun, cause one day your not gonna be able to buy them certain guns.
They need to make a red dot sight with a button to enable one to switch back and forth for point of impact for two different loads. One setting zeroed for target loads and another setting for defense rounds....Would not be hard to do. That way one can practice with cheap rounds and load defense rounds and reset red dot for when not at the range.
Sorry I'm late to the party, have been looking to get a Ruger 57, but realized the ammo would be an arm and a leg for now. Currently own a Ruger P9 Carbine and have gotten used to the feel of it. I'm also in Greenville, love it here and can't think of anywhere else in the Carolinas I'd rather be. I'm originally from Charleston, but I escaped there 40 years ago.
22 tcm advantage. 300 fps faster. Shorter cartridge so shorter grip. Conversion barrels for Glock and 1911 and some CZ variants. Ammo still easy to find and much cheaper. Can use 5.56 and 223 brass to reaload. Magazines easy and cheap to find. Paul Harrell has a nice comparison video.
Whats up @Sootch how’re you ? By the way, thanks for the review I can depend on your honesty. I’m in route to purchase my first Ruger 57. Keep up the good work.
You don't lock the slide back to remove the slide. Just make sure the hammer is cocked, Magazine removed, Push the take down pin, rotate the lever, then slightly push back the slide and then lift it away. No fuss, no muss.
Come back to TT ? It looks like improved (updated to the needs of now) realization of what was used in Red Army from 1930…. while US Army used pistol of .45 caliber. If it so - you are on the right way
I’ve seen some videos on the Ruger 5.7. Some major issues with the potential for the hammer to fall past the safety. Tried it on mine, sure enough albeit difficult, but the safety can be negated and the hammer can strike the firing pin in the event of an impact. Even the manual says specifically not to carry with it loaded, (that may be a liability text though)
Gotta remind everyone: glock boasted major new product and released glock in 22LR. Ruger kept quiet and unleashed the 57 to the world

Just got mine in a silent auction for $585. Haven’t shot it yet but I’m extremely excited.
So glad you enjoyed OUR gun!
Sooooootch. Always look forward to the double video days. Prepping and guns 💪
Got mine last year. Companies make some pretty exotic rounds. I heard a rumor Ruger is working on a carbine.
I'm hoping that Ruger is working on it!
Where do you get the conversion and what Glock does it fit?
The 22 TCM is a cool little monster, but since it is produced by Armscor in the Philippines, getting it is problematical to say the least. If SAAMI recognizes it and some other makers start producing FA chambered in it, the TCM could be very popular.
I like your commentary on all of the weapons you review because you give us the necessary information we want or need!
Just got mine 4 days ago 👌🏻👍🏻 just also added a first impressions video as well 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I love mine. I got the blue and black. Fun and easy to shoot and very accurate
Buy a pistol that shoots one of the hardest to find cartridges pre pandemic. Buy the same pistol today and enjoy your new paperweight.
Ironically the LGS use to have to mark it down to sale it around here. Now they can't keep it on the shelf oh how I wish I had bought more.
9mm?
@@spartanx169x dont stop at 1000 keep going that use to use be when I considered I was running low on that particular caliber.
snagged 3 40 rd boxes today from a local gun store. they had quite the supply too but of course there's the limit.
Great video.. bought mine last year 625.. saw 3 of these at bimart for 645 last week.. ya no ammo anywhere for this ..
Man I remember when he use to shoot rapid fire on the intro
But with this situation about the ammo
I want one of those, I edc a Smith and Wesson sd40ve now with a 380 Taurus spectrum as back up but I'm liking the 5.7
If you don't practice or are starting out that trigger is so easy to pull to the side. Hopefully an aftermarket trigger makes it easier.
You did another good job search love the gun I love your breakdown of it
Love you reviews, very thorough..I own both FN and the Ruger love them both FN has a better trigger but nothing wrong with the ruger, the pro mags are 30 rounds they work perfect as well as the factory FN's.
Looking forward to the 22 TCM - 5.7 comparisons!
Looks like an interesting pistol, $2/round is definitely too expensive for me to consider the pistol right now, maybe later.
Held one at a local gun shop man I wanted it but ammo prices are crazy
Don't worry about the price of ammo, one day your gonna say I should have bought that gun, cause one day your not gonna be able to buy them certain guns.
@@andyb9994 especially with 20 rd mags...unless you pay another $200 tax for the gun and $200 tax for each mag...lol
A great addition to your collection.
They need to make a red dot sight with a button to enable one to switch back and forth for point of impact for two different loads. One setting zeroed for target loads and another setting for defense rounds....Would not be hard to do. That way one can practice with cheap rounds and load defense rounds and reset red dot for when not at the range.
Once you get 1000 rounds through everything is nice and works easy.
To me it kind of just looks like a long security 9 with different sights, definitely not a bad thing.
It’s awesome. As a newbie that’s had practice with lots, this definitely has the least recoil and is lightweight. Not to mention the mag capacity.
I've got a shit ton of 5.7 ammo...for a carbine I don't shoot hardly ever...I want a Ruger 5.7. Very much.
22tcm is weird 5.7 is cool
Great video, will definitely be getting me one
My favorite gun I own because it feels so good in the hand and so light too. Got mine for $650 after tax 😎
Whats up @Sootch how’re you ?
By the way, thanks for the review I can depend on your honesty. I’m in route to purchase my first Ruger 57.
Keep up the good work.
Want to grab one of these, just that $1+ per round and finding it hurts right now. Especially at LGS for $699 on the gun currently.
You don't lock the slide back to remove the slide. Just make sure the hammer is cocked, Magazine removed, Push the take down pin, rotate the lever, then slightly push back the slide and then lift it away. No fuss, no muss.
Really like your videos good job. Maybe I will find a 5.7. Kinda reminds me of the 7.62 x 39 which I love shooting.
Amazing video. Thank you
Come back to TT ? It looks like improved (updated to the needs of now) realization of what was used in Red Army from 1930…. while US Army used pistol of .45 caliber. If it so - you are on the right way
Once again great video, I had some questions about the ammo that you answered. Thank you
Your grip is immaculate sir
Best Ruger 57 video I've seen. That being said, any time I wanna check out a new firearm, I come here first and for good reason.
Hands down my favorite handgun to shoot as of now .....
Always like watching your gun videos good job
Should make a threaded barrel standard, all firearms should have threaded barrels. HUGE fan of 5.7x28. More companies should enter the 5.7 game.
Do people use subsonic 5.7 loads?
@@NonApplicable1983 All the time and have for decades. EFK is making threaded barrels for the Ruger
Ordered mine today. Wanted a PSA but they didn’t offer the 10 round magazine option like Ruger. Yep, Washington State.
Also, that me keltech that takes the p90 mag looks like a sweet deal! Think I’d pick the Ruger still
Now review the Kel Tec P50. It's the Florida gun you load on Sunday and shoot all week.
there was a recall on the trigger mine didnt have it but ruger will fix any with it
also 2 pound and a quarter fully loaded
Mine came with a credit card reader on top.
And a loan application
My HOA sent a memo, it read...Armored zombies have been spotted scouting our neighborhood. I got zombie meds. Thanks Ruger.
Miss u sootch00 keep em coming
Now Ruger should make a semiauto carbine version using the same magazines. Can do without the takedown feature of the pc9 to save weight.
If ruger could make some conversion barrels for it in 22tcm , 9mm , 357sig, and 40 S&W and lastly 45acp the big frame would make it bad ass!
Why have a 5.7 then?
