The servo can't be very strong or it'd shred the plastic gears sooner. I have driven 2 different Maxx Slashes so far. I drove the first one Saturday and again today. On grass both times. Saturday it was bad but the other one Sunday was on pavement and handled better but did bottom out the chassis on pavement accelerating and braking. Also tires rubbed the body and the preload was adjusted. The first one was trimmed fine but the second did the same as this. You couldn't keep it trimmed and it'd dart. I also first thought it was the tqi because I'm not familiar with it. I run a dumbo on my Xmaxx and have only turned the gyro on once. It kept doing it with the tqi all the way down. I do think it's a weak plastic geared servo and or weak servo. Weak servo is not terribly uncommon but I'll never forgive that suspension set up. It needs more travel and better springs. I think the tires are OK on tarmac but terrible on grass in my limited experience. It'll be sorted eventually. I do hate Traxxas the company but like and own a few of their cars. I'm a fan of great RC cars.
Apparently they didn’t value your input and feedback when they said drive it on 4s cause 6s is for experts! Man, you’re a much better man than I cause the next email I sent would be all 4 letter words! Glad you are patient enough to try and work out the issues and help the people who purchased this truck and those who might in the future! P.S. I’m neither of them!
The only way to beat this car is a small cheap fix. A new standar size servo and adapters, maybe a new esc, new shock extenders on eBay, widemaxx kit, and half inch of set m2c hex extensions. Oh, and new tires, maybe the smaller 3.8 badlands. Also cut the body in the wheel wells. Good luck! Car is horrible. I’ve owned 2 Maxx cars. Durable though That’s about it
Bro, don’t let the TH-cam haters get under your skin… they love getting you upset… just ignore them and they will go away eventually… your opinion is YOURS and if they don’t respect that than screw em’!! And as far as this RC goes… almost EVERYBODY that’s reviewed it has had the same outcome as you…
Check out my next video I replaced the servo saver and servo and its a different truck now before it was so weak the tires went wherever they wanted causing it to flip too easily
Is it a true fix for how the car handles? The servo saver may help however it does not fix the fact there is no fan on the motor, the tires rub the body, the wheel base needs to be extended. On 6 s some say the car is too powerful. I do not agree with that. Depends on where your driving it at. Over all I am glad your trying to fix the car to make it usable. But chasing Dollars with Dollars is something I did with my 2m Draco to make it flyable. I hate putting more money into a already expensive "Toy" so I can use it. That to me is where these big company's lose customers. Good rants and good video. Enjoyed the process
Seems like the servo moves fine its the servo saver thats crap it requires minimal resistance to activate. Only way to stiffen up the standard servo saver and to get more effort out of the servo is take out the servo saver and undo the screw holding the sring in place remove the spring and then drop a 2 - 2.5mm thick washer in there that fits snug then replace the spring and tighten the screw screw and reassemble its a 10 min job to see if it makes a difference it did on my maxx v2
Good info thanks the servo is a bit weak I can easily hold it with my finger these belted tires are heavy the whole package is a bad deal they have a stronger servo they will gladly sell you lol. I am going to swap out both hopefully this will work
Definitely throw a widemaxx kit on. You’re driving style is much like mine, preference for a wide wheelbase which adds stability. The narrow arms I guess make proportional sense but just aren’t great for stability.
Problem with that is the tires will hit and it kind of ruins the look. I think a new servo and servo saver will fix it. This worked on the maxx but these belted tires are very heavy they didn't compensate for that when they designed it plus I heard many maxx owners complain of the weak servo
I feel your pain. Ive had several RCs that i just couldn't get along with. I noticed on mine, traction stabilize whatever in the hell it's called completely off it handled better.
The hell with Traxxas customer service. They were definitely disrespectful. If I got treated like that, I wouldn’t purchase another RC from them again or just no deal with their customer service. Luv the content we need more honest reviews on TH-cam. I’m glade you decided to review RC cars 👍🏼…
I ordered new springs. It’s undrivable as it is. I said we needed a beefier servo. The tires are very heavy and the weight of the car is too much for the stock servo
I also tried talking with Traxxas they have no idea or say never heard of any of the issues the only good Traxxas is in customer service is answering phone or text with no answers
@@troylitvinow8233 pretty sad they are clueless about thier own products have the worst warranty and still fight to help you out but expect you to pay for a service contract 😆
Gom servo bracket and a servo worth having the n any rc , the stock servo is a plastic geared piece of junk ,I replaced the one in my max ,it's a whole new day , I'm putting the gpm bracket and perfect pass servo in right out of the box , I e got a strong feeling you talked to a big headed punk named Justin , at Traxxas ?
I dont recall his name they never sent me the transcript I was looking for an adapter couldn't find one yeah the belted tires are way heavy if the maxx struggled with lighter tires it makes sense the same set up cant handle the heavier tires
If you are driving with the body off it’s going to act totally different… the weight of the body, although it doesn’t seem like much, will absolutely make the RC drive different

I dont understand the gears are inside the servo you replace it with a stronger one it has different gears inside.
I’m gonna try wide max kit an all the parts that go with it
How did that work out? Also how was the install?

I ended up putting the steel axles 8950x on this and running the mohave 6s wheels same exact diameter and now you have control in air
good tip
I like mine just can't keep gears from breaking

Hey man I figured out how to make the maxx slash handle better I added the wide maxx kit.n I handles way better like night n day
Is that the kit that is $50 or $200. I just got back into RC after being out for 35 years. Still figuring this out.

Larry that looks like a lot of fun. Maybe a real steering servo? Jeff in LA USA
Yup this is real weak they sell a nice upgrade too for 120 lol they made it to where a standard servo wont fit

I think that is the key the tires are heavier than on the max the servo and the servo saver are being over worked
Have you ever driven a udr? How does it handle compared to that?
Never bought one because of the solid axle I know they tend to roll easily kind of like this lol. Sorry I never drove one
There may be a binding bearing

Looks like both the servo & servo saver is to weak to me.
i wish i didnt buy the truck.. the servo died after 2nd run. luckily i had a spare i took out of a xmaxx.
