WHEN UR GRANDMA HAS SUCH GOOD ENGLISH AND JAPANESE omg she’s so cute and hahaa I called my grandma baba 😂 that Japanese market thooooooo we legit need to go on a picnic ok with bento 🙈 this was so fun luv u ❤️
Baba is a short form of "babushka"! Oba-chan=babushka in Russia "Baba" is a colloquial term for a peasant woman! Japanese and Russian are so similar sometimes
This video makes me smile. I'm part japanese as well. My grandma passed away a little over a year ago and I miss cooking with her. Could never get her to make vegan food lol but I still miss it ❤️
I love making onigiri with my grandma, too :) And I also have a nickname for my grandma, I call her baba-nee, lol! It doesn’t make sense i know but i’m actuallt half turkish/half japanese and grandma is called “nenee” in turkish so I did a mash-up of both terms as a kid :D multilingual fellas can relate, right?
Such a special video 💗 a couple christmases ago, my grandma (I call her me-me) made vegan versions of all her desserts! Buffalo cookies, Martha Washington balls (chocolate, coconut, and amazing! She even made her own condensed coconut milk), brownies! I was so happy to have all those nostalgic treats again! Since then she's even made vegan homemade buttermilk biscuits, Lima beans, mashed potatoes, all of her southern classics(we're in alabama)! I hope I can actually get in the kitchen and cook with her soon!
Reading this made me so happy! I imagined it in my head :') I'm so glad that my grandma came around and was open to cooking a few simple vegan things together. ♡
This was so amazing!! Japanese food is my absolute favorite and i've been scouring the internet for vegan recipes. I'd LOVE to see more of these from you! Also, you're so pretty. lol
I am American but I love Japanese cuisine!!! I force my mom to shop at the international store in our area, this is just wonderful! I will be trying all of these out now. Thank you !!!
I love this video. My mom used to pack onigiri for me when I would go on field trips and needed home lunch. Now that I’m married, I like sharing what I know about making onigiri (or Japanese food in general) with my Mexican husband.
Veggiekins hahaha yes , and also that aunt in family reunions that doesn’t think u can make delicious Japanese vegan dishes , but now I’m gonna show her this video to prove her she was wrong 🤣❤️
I really want to try that lotus root dish. I never liked it that much but I'm always willing to try it again. I need more of a variety of food in my diet. 😅😅

Hi Joao! I just saw this comment now--so sorry! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I have heard there's a big Japanese community in Brazil, right? Always wanted to visit! ♡☺️
@@Veggiekins Yes! The Liberdade neighborhood, located on the outskirts of downtown São Paulo, is the place in the world where there is the largest concentration of Japanese and their descendants outside their native country
I've been living in Japan for 3 years and this video gave me LIFE!! Kawaii desu ne! I hope to find a great Japanese store like this when I move back to the US :)
i have the same exact rice cooker!!! except i’m korean, so mine speaks to mine in korean. also i love these recipes! i love japanese food and korean food so ofc i came to your video :)
Oh wow look amazing I wanna try it myself I am vegan, started it like last year April so almost a year! Yay! So I am always looking for different recipe for my family and myself and can’t wait to see all you video and try out a lot of vegan recipes take care much luv
I really like your healthy recipes, but this one was my favorite. I love learning recipes from other countries ever since I began going to ethnic restaurants with my friend. I know More Korean recipes, but I have to travel over an hour to find certain ingredients in an Asian market up north.
This was such a lovely video, I really enjoyed it and am definetly subscribing for more :D Your relationship with your grandma is so beautiful :) Also, "babi" is what most of us in Slovenia call our grandmas and it's shor for "babica" :D
Nice! I myself always find the Annko of any kind too sweet, too. But it might be the fact that Annko is to be served only a small potion at a time, not like a big piece of cake. So your bowls of Zennzai are perfectly potioned.
Ah! I love how I recognized what store you were at when the camera went in the door! I'm like, "I know where that is!" Yaaayyy! Time for Shichimi togarashi!
Discovered you today. I adore Japanese food and would eat Japanese style everyday if I could. Your Obaasan is so sweet! Gonna sub and see what other cool stuff you have. Any chance you could do a demo of making homemade mochii sometime? Would love to see that!

That's such a cute video! Makes me wanna cook something with my grandma too! Also in Czech, we call grandma 'babi' which is pronounced the same as you pronounce bobby! And also, what rice:water ratio do you use for your rice? I'm never sure even though I have a rice cooker...
Oh that's so cool!!! I love that so much. I've also heard that there's a similar Jewish word for grandma that also sounds like bobby. For the rice/water, I would refer to the instructions your rice cooker provides, or the bag of rice you use :) Sometimes it varies a little
I love this - your bobby is so sweet! And I really want to try making zenzai, which seems similar to Korean patjuk (red bean porridge). Would love to see you cooking vegan Korean food with your dad as well!
I'm half Japanese and grew up in Japan. Japanese people make onigiri with Onigiri maker and hand press it after and make it little funky. So you can fake it as handmade lol. Sorry if you don't understand what I'm saying.
