Good overview! For long-term performance, look up Paolo Cattaneo - he’s ridden for multiple years across multiple continents with Round The World Panniers. A search here on TH-cam will also dig up several other long-term reviews.
Really? I"m a newbie so I dont know, but just met 5 or 6 guys who ride off road in Baja and they have the tall Mosko Moto tank banks....I asked them and they're semi pro guys and they all had them.
Only thing I would mention is I would try to fit a heat shield for the exhaust side. Here in Cape Town there was a case of a soft pannier on a Africa Twin eventually ending up in flames from exhaust heat
I was all over the place with considering size and weight and also have some mosko stuff which is great. However when I was looking for pannier bags I found a good compromise with Kriega. So far they have been good for my needs. The next time you have an option it would be interesting to see how they compare to the variety of bags you have used.
At 2:19 you say that they are half the weight of your Giant Loop Panniers, I think you meant Mosko or Lone Rider? Anyway the review is excellent and I like that you point out they are great for light weight minimalists and that they still hold up well. Hope you liked Africa, I hope to get there some day! See you in Maryland in September!
35L + 5L x2 front and back. $700 plus $200 for the mounting plates. 14.8 lbs with mounts. Mosko - 30L + 5L (and optional 5L more, if you need/want it). $870. 20 lbs for a pair. Small panniers, small bike plus ultralight gear = happiness.
It's a pitty that if you want them to ship it to Europe it cost another 900$ with Fedex (shipping cost from GL website to Poland). Total price become creazy and not acceptable. What I really like is mounting system, big adventage if you want to quickly swap with hard cases...
I’ve not seen them in person, but the material does look a little lightweight for longer adventure trips. All these things, like tires as well, are compromises, but while Mosko are heavier, I suspect (as someone who owned the backcountry 40l duffel) Mosko are also more durable. These GL aren’t exactly on the cheap end of the scale.
Thanks for the review Brett. One thing you didn't really address is if, now that you've traveled with them, of you think the weight savings around up being worth the trade offs in features / price / durability to the Mosko's / Lonerider's - great review otherwise, come visit us in Kenya next time...
Bret, on your previous video about packing your panniers for your So Africa trip, you noted using some organizing pouches. What brand did you use? I’ve been trying to find better pouches for my travels and haven’t found anything really useful yet. I’m looking for smaller bags to better organize groups of small, similar type, items.
They don't make this shirt anymore... Bummer it was my favorite. I also can't find the name on the shirt but looking at the website it is not there anymore.
Good review. Those racks stick out way to far from the bike. I'd much rather put some heat shields on the exhaust and have the luggage tighter mounted.
I ran the giant loop on my ktm 990 a few years ago and they water logged all my gear even with the inside dry bags. After that they were never used again. Moved to Mosko and never looked back. I’m sure the new stuff is way better . I really like many of the new companies using a quick connect plate with the soft luggage.
As a lifelong 60 y/o motorcyclist, i just fail to understand Americas laws of no lane splitting. Commuting, it would drive me insane to the point of having to move to Cali or emigrating. Seriously. The m/c would lose all its advantages in heavy traffic. So what is the point? 'Merca. Hey?
I'm still not sure how we end up with $800 for a couple of bags. I know they are cool and it's certainly not only GL (they're all at it) - but you have to admit, it's kinda nuts. For this money, they should come with an armed guard - to protect the bags, not the contents!
@@HJZ75driver ballistic nylon (1680 cordura) is $16 a yard on ebay. Mounting hardware is pretty common alloy or steel. There's some (fairly basic) R&D, sure - but it's a bag. The reason this happens is because we are nuts enough to pay it. Same for boating, airplanes etc. It's priced for the market, not the value. That's my 2cents anyway - I'm guilty too - I buy $100 plastic 2L bags that are made for $10.

Best soft panniers out there in my opinion!
The ending statement never gets old 😍.
I think I will stick to these words even after 1000 videos.
Sound is fixed, thank you for your honest review.

Smile while you ride because actitud matters! Right on! 🙌
Amen on the tank bag.....gets in the way during off-road riding.

As far as I remember you CAN lane split in California. Nice bags as well. Pleasant journeys.
Good job on fixing the sound Bret. Cheers.
Appreciate your attention to quality. :)

Another very helpful review. Thanks for a good video and honest review.
Glad you were able to fix it 💪🏻
Smaller bags are great for lane splitting / filtering in California. In town I usually just run a large top case.

I like the Outback Motortek X- racks for a loaner bike. They look like they might accomodate various saddles.
Much better! Thank you sir.
This one is the OG out of the two 👌
At 2:21 do you mean half the weight of Mosko moto?
Yes
Nice touch, leaving the panniers there.
Thanks for info

Looks good, but compared to a rugged Mosco Moto 80 rackless system I'm not clear on weight and toughness comparison?
Yeah, sound is fixed.

please compare Gaint Loop rtw bags with Lone rider
Does the pannier mounting plate remove off the back side of the bag?
The mounting plate bolts to the bag.
G'day. I have a ktm 790 and would these panniers leave enough room for a passenger?
Dear friend. will these bags fit bmw s1000xr?... Thanks
They fit any bike with a standard rectangle side rack
@@BretTkacs thanks...

Which model Kuhl shirt were you wearing?

Attitude does matter. I always say to be kind and wave to people, you might be surprised how they react.
thanks for sharing your insight. They seem like a great solution. Have you had any experience with the Adventure Spec Magadans?
Cost? How much were they?

Moskomoto, Lonerider and these now are in my radar. Build quality and load capacity with safety are my main concerns. Can't wait for your thoughts
Enough time on that bike to give us a little review?
Good review. Those racks stick out way to far from the bike. I'd much rather put some heat shields on the exhaust and have the luggage tighter mounted.
I agree about the racks. This is an issue for the big KTM'S along with some other brands
I just saw the video and looked at price here in the EU. 833euros. Man Honestly Enduristan monsoon 3 are a bit smaller, very good and way cheaper

You have to at least like that I fixed the sound 😉

Hey?
needs less drums
Giant loop sux compared to mosko.
Nope
You threw a borrowed bike on the ground….
The owner was holding the camera so it's ok 😉. It was soft sand, it was a safe controlled and gentle drop.

Made of ballistic nylon, plus the mounting gear, plus the technology
