The rolling animations of the flyers were used in the Ground Zero expansion pack during the Carrier bossfight. It sometimes summons "kamikaze flyers" that use that exact animation when they charge at you
I modded the jump slam into something I was working on (unreleased) th-cam.com/video/yqVeIKY6-2w/w-d-xo.html needs a bit more forward momentum in the jump though and some more polish to really look right.
There was an unused Power Screen inventory pick-up in 3.05, also the were screenshots of unused items in the descrption html directory - like Goggles (later appeared in Ground Zero) and Invis.
daaaaamn some of the cut things are such great ;s like berserker attacks or floaters' "activating" animation or flyers' rolls and banks, or parasite "stuck leech" -_-
A lot of stuff is nowhere near the intended vision IMO - many of the enemy ended up with generic blaster attacks for instance that were originally animated for and partially programmed for a much bigger range of types of weapons such as the floater which was originally intended to have a range of electric attacks - not exactly like but along the lines of this: th-cam.com/video/ZjpGSbVAJEo/w-d-xo.html There is extensive extra programming for most of the monsters that is sitting there unused due to being only 40-60% completed - the parasite animation for trying to break free for instance is partially implemented in code but unused.
Great video man. It was super interesting seeing this cut content. But I don't agree with 6:38 I think it's not defending itself, it seems like a melee attack.
@@avtomatkalashnikova1947 Ok, maybe I don't have any link or indication that there is manual, but when looking into installation directory there indeed is some ;) Thanks.

I think the nuke was used as a weapon in the quake 2 ground zero multyplayer. One can get the nuke and place it in the level and has 30 sec to run to the other side of the map, preferebly sitting in top of a health box as he looses health.
According to the id Vault in the re-release, the nuke had a similar function as the anti-matter bomb in Ground Zero, and was present in earlier versions of Quake 2 when it was still running under the Quake 1 engine.

According to the id Vault in the re-release, the nuke was going to be an usable item in earlier iterations of Quake 2. It would go off in a timer before it explodes in a large radius, killing everyone nearby.
It's a real shame they didn't use these animations, the game would be much better if enemies like the Berserker or Brain had these extra attacks and didn't appear virtually harmless to a skilled player. I also love the physics-simulating animations of the flying enemies, they would feel a lot more lively if they were implemented! Not to mention the tank being able to defend itself when the player is circles strafing him.
@@avtomatkalashnikova1947 aye, I really like all the animations they brought back. The proper way to make remasters. But then again, I wish there was an option to turn off the new AI because it breaks some encounters in the original game.
The flare gun's actually been re-added into the game through the Quake 2 RTX port. Because of how lighting works with ray tracing some areas have become nearly pitch black in the RTX version, so they put the flare gun in to act as a light source.
Just an update. They return a lot of cutted animations in the remaster. Berserker now rocks.
It rocked too much, lol! Gotta try the update whenever I can. Haven't played Q2 because Real Life kept me quite busy.
Great to see most of these added back in for the Remaster

The berserker would some much more threatening if it had a running club and a slam stack.
I mean attack not stack stupid auto-correct
I agree.
so basically the berserker from quake 4?
