Well... you "only" need four more marines of each of these chapters to field them as five man strong battle squads! The rules were published in White Dwarf towards the end of 2nd edition iirc. A battle squad so half a tactical squad , assault squad etc fielded for half the cost. Non Ultra Marine chapter units would be allies I guess. Anyway... looks great. Cool seening those more obscure chapters getting some love and great display!
Youve inspired me to get into oldhammer. Im too young to remember the good ol days myself, but these models are so gorgeous and charming. It just goes to show that its more than just nostalgia that makes this stuff so appealing. These videos are amazing, thanks for making them :)
Great marines, of course - but the backdrop's really something, especially the view of space. I admit if I'd been doing something like that I'd likely have printed off a background without a second thought, but having it painted instead really makes it something to be proud of in its own right, as well as giving your tacticals somewhere to stand.
For complex chapter symbols... I wonder if one could carve out like a really tiny stamp that basically has an inverse shape to a power armour shoulder pad? 🤔 Imagine what a godsend it would be to just apply paint to the little stamp and press it against the shoulder pad and get a decently uniform chapter symbol each and every time.
Very nice! The Novamarines are always going to be my favourites, but glad to hear they’ll all be on display! Very happy to see the Dawn of War 2 footage sneak in there! 💪🏽
Ah, so this is the reason you've been on my feed so much, I started painting a mantis warriors army about 3 months ago, for a disord challenge. Im just about 1000 pts in. Here's a trick I've picked up, use the old Mantis Warriors chapter symbol, it is much easier to freehand. Anywho, I'm loving your channel so far, classic paint style, classic delivery. Whatever you're doing, keep it coming. Please leave your little songs in too, they've grown on me.
Poor astral claws, all they wanted was the imperial bureaucracy to actually do something good, instead, the high lords chose to have one the worst civil wars in the imperium since the heresy. Lesson learned: Don't expect the high lords to be smart.
@@Miniscape-wh40k I do love a bit of 1990 (even older) mini painting love. It's how we started right! Taking a break from my Harlequins at the moment but this nostalgia trip on your Channel helps the mojo!
Funny. Im currently co verting a small force of Raptors, using Primaris armour, but older weapon systems and helmets. I've always liked the Star Phantoms myself, cool as hell drop pod specialists.
Great stuff! My marine army is mantis warriors, I did not initially intend them to be retro-styled but at the time I started collecting those old plastic marines made up most of the best ebay lots so that is kind of the style it took. Since then I have definitely gotten more of the 2e itch, so it was a happy coincidence. I commend your bravery for painting the chapter badge, I went with the transfers 😆. I love these chapters with just a blurb or two of lore, you can really come up with your own stuff.
I wonder if it’s called violator metal because there is an offshoot of the emperors children named the violators, and they where dark blue armor with bright silver trim. But I doubt it
As someone who once decided to do a mantis warrior for my deathwatch kill team... I feel the same pain with the chaptee symbol. You did a great job though :D
Wish I'd heard of this challenge earlier. I've been meaning to do something with my excess old plastic marines (I only use Dark Vengeance models for the Tacticals in my Fallen army). I _could_ probably paint a squad in the next 12 days, though. If I'm willing to put my Drukhari Kabalites on hold for it, that is. Now I just need to decide if I want to paint them Salamanders or Blood Angels. Salamanders would be good, as they're one of my favorite loyalist chapters, and I've got a single Flamer wielder. But another model has some obvious Blood Angels parts. It's a tough decision.
...I am very far from certain that it wasn't your Ultramaroons that started the 90's SMC. But, great fun, s'always nice to see the mad marine chapters get some attention.
this is a shot in the dark but do you know where I could possibly find spare bolter and backpack for the model at 5:18? my ebay space marine collection has a bunch of this model but no bolter or backpack. At this point id gladly take 3d printed
I tend to get all my spares off eBay but I don't have a 3d printer so I am not sure about stls. I reckon the files exist for those parts I'm just not sure where they are. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
@@Miniscape-wh40k Meh. I just prefer quarters as heraldry on a shoulder pad rather than on the whole model. The Badab War book has some really nice pictures of the Howling Griffons scheme with black armour and the chapter colours on the pads. Still, I love your project! It may have inspired me for a smaller project for while I'm not gaming.
"I already have 4 Space Marines army, do I need another?"
Foreshadowing it's a literary device...
🤣
Greetings, fellow Averland Sunset enjoyers. Let us take a moment to appreciate our superior yellow

A superb tribute to the Warders, and the old models. Great stuff!

Nice one buddy. Hope you have success and enjoyment on your hobby journey.
I’ve just now started and boight entirely first born marines for my imperial fist army. Early 2000 models to semi modern models
Awesome paint jobs ❤ especially the Mantis theme 😮 lovely work
Thank you so much 😀
Always love to see obscure Chapters get some attention. Especially Mantis Warriors
Great!! The display stand was a brilliant idea.
And any day I see more than one Lamenter in frame at once, is a day to celebrate. ❣
❤ 🏁

Thanks mate. My printer is garbage so painting was the only sensible option. And it gave me the chance to be creative!
Goblin green would've looked so much better on the display. Heretic!🤣 The cable tie idea is pretty neat. Great job.
😁

Yeah someone needs to invent that

very cool man!

Really love the style of your videos. Keep it up I know you're gonna make it big
Thank you. Let's hope you are right 😅
Badab wars was for the kool kids for sure
Beautiful work! I like both the off white and red bolter for the Novamarine and your free hand work is very impressive. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks ao much. Very kind of you to say.

Great work, love the display backdrop. The forge world campaign books were great. Maybe they'll go back to writing some more
I am going to steal that basing method with the zipties
Please do. I stole it from another youtuber 😅
I really like that method too lol I want to try it.
Oh your bases look really good. Another great Vid, Very entertaining.
Glad you liked it buddy

Had no idea this was a thing but coincidentally l just painted up a squad of 90's marines for my red scorpions over the weekend.
Fantastic
That's a cool project! Nice man. 👍 I'm just getting things ready for the Badab War with my friends. Thanks for the inspiration.
No worries. Cheers.

Awesome. If I was collecting more of these I would go for transfers.
u really need another^^
😅
Beautiful work as allways ! Working on a quartered scheme army myself!
Dude you left the knife pommel/gun handle on the underside of the Astral Claw right hand! Can't stop looking at it. Super project though :D
Yeah! He's holding his thingamagig, his whatsit. It's essential battle equipment.
i cover a lot of my painting mistakes with weathering, and it makes it look so much better
It's a good idea
well neat stuf looks great and the box set you show of metal minis never had think olny one but will tune in as post new
Thanks buddy
Fantastic work again Brother!
Thanks again!
7:42 I suggest buying very dark sunshades, wearing them when looking at the model, and believing that it is as you want it to be.
Good plan 😅
Every element in this video is 90's
Thanks for another fun video.
Most welcome

True I don't start any trends. I just try to propagate the ones I like 😄
I love the aesthetic of the badab war… it is heavily inspiring my custom chapter, medieval ukranian-inspired blue and yellow-quarters!
Sounds like a fab paint scheme
Seeing someone else describe quartered schemes as "Rad as hell" gives me hope lol
😁
Well done
hue hue he he! where can i buy the chaos warrior and space marine, citadel colours paint set?
Amazing vid ❤
Glad you liked it!!
Oh a historical wargaming joke? You spend 20mins deploying your army, then spend 3 hours arguing that the archers are the wrong shape of green....
Ha
“Little plastic man” ah, the nickname my wife likes to give me…
😅
so when's the Badab War battle report due? 😀
I wish I could make it happen. I would need a willing opponent for one 😫

ca. 8:00 : Buy a 3D-Printed Shoulderpad and put a Transfersheet on it. (Yes. The complete Sheet.) You asked for it. :P
I did lol

Thanks 😊
