Surely, this is one of the best podcasts/videos I’ve ever seen from any channel. We definitely need more content like this… Especially for Affiliate Marketing, SEO and stuff of that nature. Cheers guys!
Amazing survey, however I think one big limitation with this study are all of the results that are broke down by the niche. Although, you do have over 2,000 participants, when you break it down by niche the data gets skewed as some niches may have 500+ people while others less than 100, so that’s why you get data such as pets and animals niche having lower earnings or RPMs.
I'd need to look into that. It's definitely going to be lower though as a lot of the people completing the survey had less than 1 years of experience so they make up a disproportionate amount of the respondents. I suspect this stems from us promoting the survey to the audience of the course The Authority Site System, where many folks are just starting to build their first time. That is why in the data we tried to control most questions based on experience too.
Spot on. I didn't take your survey but, I fall right in line in the digital marketing space earnings as well as the years of experience earnings. And this was fun to see not long after your interview with Brian Dean where he suggested doing more personal stat studies and reports via survey! Way to take action.
Solid content guys! High Value backed up by data. Pretty rare I stay all the way through a 1hr+vid, but it was just that good. Many thanks, Keep up the hard work!🎙👑
Love this, but tbh, the marketers who are really doing well, or better than this, won't tell you what their income is. There are some people in the casino gaming niche that literally make 10's of 1000's of dollars a day. When I did affiliate marketing back in 2010-2012, I made over $10K a month in the video gaming niche (not casino, but multiplayer game) promoting ONE affiliate product. There are literally thousands of companies that want to throw their money at you to get them qualified leads or sales, to. It's not hard to do. It really just depends on how much time you invest in it and how skilled you become at getting those visitors who are hungry for the product. You can make multiple 6 figures ini ANY niche with the right audience with affiliate marketing. It's a game of volume, and skill. You have to know how to pair the right product with the right audience. Thanks for sharing this interview with us, Authority Hacker! Looking forward to more of your insights! :)
Good video overall but one comment regarding the affiliate earnings by experience: I think the Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy is kind of in the ballpark of what's going on here, but not quite. I think what you're seeing here with affiliate revenue jumping sharply with experience is likely better explained by people with poor earnings selecting out of the profession (and hence not part of the survey). Clearly the people who are the most effective and making the most money have the biggest incentive to continue doing this and the people who make the least money have the most incentive to quit and do something else. I think this likely explains more of the dramatic earnings increase in the first few years than simply people improving their skills. Though that's probably also a significant factor as well.
The real question is "Can small, independent publishers... (i.e., individual people like me with not many hard skills, experience, or knowledge), still make it in the affiliate marketing space?" I feel like affiliate marketing is becoming more of a game for large publishers nowadays. The golden era seems over.
@@AuthorityHacker of course. I only wondered that based on the fact that Clickbank was so high on your affiliate network report. Anyway, appreciate the findings!
@@kkj6hu - yes. I'm aware of how they work, I was just wondering if most of these respondents were using Clickbank courses to promote. Since there wasn't a deep dive into that specifically, we don't know. No biggy. Was just curious.

For the affiliate earnings, what was the median? That'd probably be a better metric since outliers can significantly skew the average.
Agree, median is a better metric, as average can be skewed because of outliers

@@MarkWebster1 lol so totally flawed tho i doubt it makes much difference. most people make peabuts even with experience

Looking at the stats I think it’s quite encouraging. Thinking of starting a skincare review affiliate site since I have a certain amount of expertise.
Thanks for sharing this podcast, This is very informative and will help a lot in getting business up and running.

Who is Greg? 🤔
@@AuthorityHacker Maybe he was signing his own name at the end of the comment
I am curious about the education affiliates and the courses they are promoting. Are they Clickbank courses? Love a deep dive there!
We didn’t go that deep but there are many courses out there running their own affiliate programs, not just Clickbank.
@@AuthorityHacker of course. I only wondered that based on the fact that Clickbank was so high on your affiliate network report. Anyway, appreciate the findings!
They can be both from Click bank, any other affiliate platform, or ever the course owner, he can create his own affiliate pkatform
