PayPal Here Chip Swipe Reader setup and quick tutorial

Location settings have to be turned on also on your phone.

I know I am 2 years late on this but you, sir or ma'am, are a gotd**n hero! Thanks so much for this added info. I have been near tears for about an hour trying to figure out how to get this thing to work. I have no idea why the PayPal rep, who I chatted with for about an hour, did not tell me this. I turned on location for PayPal Here and voila... the damn thing connected right away. Jeez damn louise!!!! Thanks so much!!!!!!!

My reader takes sooooooo long to connect. It's okay if I am doing a sale back to back, it stays connected, but when I haven't had a sale in awhile, say 5 minutes or so, every time I try to use the swipe reader, it has to reconnect and I literally stand there with the customer for over 60 seconds waiting for it to connect. It shouldn't take that long and it's slowing me down significantly. Does anyone have any tips or tricks or insight on to why it's taking so long? Thank you : )

It shouldn't take more than a minute to connect. When I am going to use it I press on the reader to turn it on, then I open the app. By the time I enter the amounts, it is already connected. Maybe you need to return yours. th-cam.com/video/7HsxQnBwlvM/w-d-xo.html I just made this video for you

Mine not only wont connect to my iPad, it won’t come up in the pairing list either. But connects to every other device. Soooo irritating.

What connects to other devices, your iPad or your Reader? If your Reader works on your phone, maybe is a problem with your iPad, If it does not, you need to replace it.
If there is a problem with the iPad I would reset it to factory.

Update: I ordered a NEW card reader and it's doing the same thing & is actually even worse. It also locks up much of the time and you have to cancel out of a sale and re-do it! Ridiculous. Going to switch to square.

how do you actually get/purchase the reader?? I can't seem to find that info anywhere. Even on the Paypal website. Thanks!

Do you know if it can be connected to two or more phone at once so we could process multiple transactions at the same time?

I believe that you need to connect one device at a time.

My reader does not work either swper OE the chip reader part just spins and spurns and says processing and never processes

Are you using Wifi or your cell phone's Internet? Try with one or another... If you have good Internet, exchange it. Mine works great. Please let me know.

My PayPal here card reader will not pair with my Samsung note 8 and when it eventually does it only stays connected for 4 seconds at a time what a piece of crap.

yeah I am having that problem on a reader which HAS historically worked. Even if you can get the phone's BT to see the reader, when you start Paypal Here, it just searches for the reader!
There doesn't seem to be a solution. Paypal may have disabled it to get people to start using Zettle?
