    I like and love Roxy Music. I love Ladytron as a song. It reminds me of my sister Dagny whose listened to Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music for many years. She has good taste in music and is musical eventhough she doesn't think she is. My Grandfather Charles Murry Thompson was musical and her (our)mother was a church organist at 15. So happy to hear Roxy are touring again. Xo

    I do miss the violin solo in Out of the Blue, but Phil Manzanara’s guitar solo was really good. A lot of people don’t realize that Roxy Music had their heyday in the 70’s and early 80’s. Are a classic rock band with 4 original members still performing.

      Saw them in Chicago on that tour. One of the all-time great lineups was Roxy Music at The Apollo in appx 1970. It will never be beaten! Even the backing group was fantastic, including Lucy, Sarah, and Chris. You are right -- the violin solo was unbelievable!!

    I saw Roxy Music around 1983 in my hometown of Santa Barbara, California at the Santa Barbara County Bowl. To my surprise the opening band was The Stranglers also one of my many all time favorite bands from England. The original lineup: Hugh Cornwell, Jean Jacques Burnel, Dave Greenfield (may he Rest In Peace) and Jet Black. I think I was the only one there who knew who were The Stranglers that evening at the SBCB. I kept shouting out for them to play "Peaches" a few times. Hugh Cornwell responded back, "Ah. Someone remembers." They did not perform their older songs, just their newer ones. I do believe it was their 'Feline' tour, the same title from that album.
    I saw Bryan Ferry in 2014 and in 2017 at the SBCB. In 2017 there was guitarist Chris "Ace" Spedding, which I saw him in the mid 80's with John Cale at a small nightclub here in SB. The bassist in this concert (I do not know his name or who he is) was the bassist with Bryan Ferry in 2017, and the gal who plays the sax and keyboards was there as well. She reminds me of a young Betty Page. Also Phil Manzanera and Andy McKay are still phenomenal musicians to this very day.

    • @PIPEHEAD
      @PIPEHEAD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you'll find Chris Spedding is the real guitar player on Never Mind the Bollocks. I may be wrong, but who cares ? The mighty Chris is part of my number one memory nightmare of all time. When Andy Fraser first left Free he formed Toby, who I definitely saw. He rejoined Free then left for good and formed Sharks, with CS on guitar. I can''t believe I won't have seen them, but I can't actually remember. I know I saw him with Roy Harper, possibly a few times. Can't leave without saying - John Cale ..........................

    • @undergroundwarrior70
      @undergroundwarrior70 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PIPEHEAD No, Chris "Ace" Spedding was not on the Sex Pistols album 'Never Mind the Bollocks'. That would have been interesting if he was. The second time I saw John Cale was in the early 90's with Siouxsie Sioux with her new band at that time The Creatures at the Majestic Ventura Theater in Ventura, California, the next county down (Ventura County) from my hometown of Santa Barbara. John Cale and Siouxsie Sioux and The Creatures sang and played together. There was no opening band. I also saw Tangerine Dream and for the second time King Crimson with Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin and Bill Bruford there as well.

    • @PIPEHEAD
      @PIPEHEAD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@undergroundwarrior70 I was suggesting that CS is playing the guitar, wikipedia says otherwise. I'm not convinced, I know when somebody is out to make money they don't want to be wasting any of it on studio time. CS could record that album in an hour.
      I'm suddenly on a Percy Jones thing, and he and John Cale are the only Welsh musicians I know. I actually think the main reason I like JC is that he's Welsh, you can't impress me just by being in a couple of dozen amazing bands ......
      Never saw anything electronic except two consecutive nights of Krafterk's Computer World tour 1981.

    • @undergroundwarrior70
      @undergroundwarrior70 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PIPEHEAD Just a little while ago I did look up 'Never Mind the Bollocks' on wikipedia and no mention of Chris "Ace" Spedding being on the album. Only Johnny Rotten - lead vocals, Steve Jones - guitar, bass on all tracks except "Anarchy in the UK", backing vocals, Paul Cook - drums, Glen Matlock (original bassist of the Sex Pistols) - Bass and backing vocals on "Anarchy in the UK", Sid Vicious - partial bass on "Bodies" and "God Save the Queen". Production: Chris Thomas - producer, Bill Price - engineering, co-production, John Walls - AIR Studios second engineer.
      I did watch a documentary about John Cale on TH-cam a few years back about him growing up in a small town in Wales. As a young boy he learned how to play the organ and he played at the church that he and his family went to every Sunday. And he also learned piano, keyboards, violin, viola, as he got older he learned to play guitar and bass. John Cale was considered a child prodigy in music. And around in his 20's or so he went to New York to pursue a music career. He met Lou Reed and the both started The Velvet Underground; Lou Reed founder and John Cale as co-founder, after their 1st or 2nd album their were creative differences between both of them that Lou Reed wanted to fire John Cale but he did not have the courage to do it himself. He asked one of the other members of VU to fire John Cale. Both Lou and John produced Nico's solo albums after she left VU after their debut album. I never knew that Percy Jones was from Wales. I always thought he was from England.
      I missed that 1981 tour of Kraftwerk. For some reason I did not make the effort to see them at the Santa Monica Convention Center in Santa Monica, California. To this day I can kick myself in the ass for not seeing Kraftwerk that year. I started to listen to Kraftwerk in 1970/1971 when I was 14/15 years old. You can watch a full concert of Kraftwerk on TH-cam from 1971/1972. It's called Rockpalast - Kraftwerk. It's in B & W.

    • @PIPEHEAD
      @PIPEHEAD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@undergroundwarrior70 As I say, I am on a bit of a PJ thing at the mo. I have left a lot of comments on three of the Brand X albums over the last few days. I never saw them, but I do have a mad tale of seeing Percy most weeks at the local folk/blues club at the end of 1971 and beginning of 72, in the Mike Evans Blues Band. He's Welsh but went to University in Liverpool.
      We got the first two Kraftwerk albums as a double in 1973 and it was pretty popular in the relevant circles. I drifted off for a minute till the Man Machine came out. Stranner came back from the shop in Oxton Village with two albums he'd just stolen - the Man Machine and a Police album. That rekindled my interest and I promptly got everything, including Organisation. Then Computer World came out and they did two nights in Liverpool, the only time I saw them. I consider the Man Machine one of the top three albums I know, for sounding like every note is essential, and having a sound that is literally perfect from start to finish. Even Computer World is not even remotely close.

    When Roxy hit they were competing with bands like Genesis and Yes. Bands that had one thing in common, some rich kid on fifteen keyboards.
    Roxy had two keyboard players with one keyboard each. Their secret was that they couldn't actually play them - genius !
    Just write the number one rock album of all time one evening, record it for about twenty quid with a bunch of nomarks, and there you go ......

      @@davidrobinson9340 its tough, some may never have seen them live, and i would not deny them that opportunity. The dynamic and vocal abilities of ageing artists varies enormously. Ferry and Roxy have a fine legacy, sometimes drawing a line can protect that as Stipe and REM showed

      I agree...again....Macca can also get away with it...and who can deny anyone the chance to hear Beatles classics..? But at some point...artists have to call it a day...and am pretty sure Roxy won't be playing any concerts after this tour....so ...good luck to them! BTW....why no amazing violin solo at the end of 'Out of the Blue'? It's ALWAYS been there....until this tour. @@garylongden

    I've mentioned elsewhere the diabolical flaw in Remake, but I am outraged to see that they have taken no notice of me !
    In the solos, the synth plays exactly the same line every time, as on the original. Eno never did that, he'd be lucky if he could even get a sound out of the synth by that part of the track. I first used synths eight years later, and it was still the same, like trying to train a rogue kangaroo !
    ( They just had to shoot one in Australia for killing its " owner " ) .............
    May as well throw in : - Once, on the solo from VP, he said " My synth's broken, shall I sing it ? " . I'm afraid I'm going to wind you up by not telling you what the crowd's response was, and how well it all went .... Suffice to say that was probably the night BF thought " This guy's too popular ! " .

      Completely insensitive, what are you 20 years old and dismissive of an older generation? This group are legends who made a huge IMPACT to contemporary artists who now sample their original and innovative sound. They deserve RESPECT and honor for their legacy of work. What have you contributed to this world? I can't wait until you reach your 70s and the younger generation dismisses you...karma is a bitch.
