  • Three new turntable ladders, which can reach heights of up to 64m, have been unveiled by the London Fire Brigade.
They were purchased in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fire with each appliance costing £1.5m.
The ladders are the tallest of their kind in the UK and will be spread across London, the idea being they’re easily deployed to callouts at high-rise buildings.

@@LondonEmergency999 it depends on the highest Building in the city. So I don't think that every major city has a building up to 20 floors 👍🚒🚨. In Germany you only got a rescue ladder for cities with skyscrapers. For villages there is no need. I see your point in having this but not exactly the same ladder as in London. More like 32 m is enough.

@@alinski112 Every high rise fire is fought internally. Big ladders provide no help, to get the trucks in this video to full height, they need to be 15 meters away from a building. No room like that available on any high rise area in the UK. The taller they get, the more space they need and the harder they become to manoeuvre.

One thing it's still not big enough for the tallest buildings in London they need a bigger one but at least fire station around the UK are get new fire appliances to deal with high-rise fire old tower blocks that don't meet fire regulations being upgraded or demolished

Why have the waterway on top of the ladder? You can’t climb it easily with it in the way !!

Did you even watch the video? They have a lift that goes up and down the ladder for transporting firefighters or injured up and down when the ladder is extended. No need to climb. Also, from a safety standpoint, who in their right mind would climb a 26 story ladder with no harness or safety equipment like the old ladders?

No one really needs them providing buildings behave as they should in a fire.
