- A new Fallout Show is receiving rave reviews. Xbox is "Full-Speed Ahead" on Next-Gen hardware. And reports say that an Xbox game preservation team is being built to keep the games we love for years to come. There's been a lot of positivity in Xbox news this week and we bring on Brad Sams and Parris Lilly to discuss the latest. In addition to all of this, Gears 6 rumors are swirling alongside a rumored June 9th Xbox Showcase that would definitely bring the hype. All that and more this week on IGN's Podcast Unlocked.

Yes. My 70 year old Step Father is binging it right now and he has never played a video game, let alone Fallout. It is probably even more enjoyable if you played the games, but they are all stand alone stories.

watched the first episode and its already a trillion time better then halo series hahaha. wish halo got this treatment. but fallout amazing and im not even that big of a fallout guy and the first episode made me wanna play the fallout games.
They could definitely run a newer CPU and just underclock it so that it doesn't run hot people do this now with the current gen AMD CPUs and they often run games better than they do at their normal clock speeds.

@@xandypunk7350 underclocking give more consistent performance. I'm not going to say that the XBox Series consoles already do this but they have room to overclock but MS doesn't want that. The Series consoles are practically silent and don't melt usb ports.

About game preservation. It's funny that multiplatform gamers are buying games for PS5 instead of xbox because they are afraid to lost their library 😂 it's difficult to change the mindset
They are waiting for the games to come to gamepass
Having the most powerful console doesn't mean that is going to give you a head start against PlayStation, they have seen it since the OG XBOX, and didn't get it yet, EXCLUSIVE GAMES that people can link it to XBOX is what they will get it an option to compete.

An Xbox handheld needs to be less open, not more. It should be as easy to use as a Switch or Xbox, it should play any Xbox game at 720p or 1080p, cloud saves should automatically sync so you can resume on your Series X. Making another handheld PC entirely misses the point. It should not dock.
Exactly. Xbox at the moment is a complete mess. Nobody is buying it, nobody is watching this podcast or checking out pure Xbox for example. Only us diehards. The views are tiny compared to the switch websites and TH-cam channels. Phil needs to go.

sorry but the cope throughout this show is insane. Parris claims a mid-gen refresh isn't needed despite most xbox first party games running at 30fps. You guys argued Xbox will rebound by releasing a handheld despite an immense amount of competition in the handheld market and Switch 2 rumored to release in a year. The stuff you guys are saying simply doesn't make any sense.
Most XBox first party games have performance modes with some hitting 120. You've obviously set up your mind and are just going to be full of shazz but hey, make sure you're properly cleaning your tush. Remember, opinions are like arse holes, everybody has one, but yours is particularly rancid.
@@vaguedreams some Xbox One games were upgraded to run at 120 fps, but most new Xbox Series games have been releasing with locked 30 fps (Redfall, Starfield, Hellblade 2) and no performance modes. You're obviously set up your mind to twist yourself into a pretzel trying to defend this lackluster Xbox gen.

But that counters your one, current, valid game example in Starfield as Hell Blade 2 isn't even out.
Redfall has a 60 fps mode, so maybe it's time to let that one go.

PS2 only sold so many units because it was a faulty console and the majority of people had to buy 2 or 3 consoles because they kept breaking. That is what stopped me from buying any Sony console since then. At least when the XB360 had the rrod, Microsoft replaced it for free, where as Sony just gave a big middle finger to its customers.

There's no reason to think the Microsoft (or Sony) would not expand "exclusives" if it's making them money. It's a business. Spreading exclusives can't possibly hurt Microsoft since they do have the smallest market share. There's very little logic to NOT getting these on other platforms. The market expansion is only beneficial. My guess Phil Spencer is trying to A) confirm that this will help them make money and B) introduce this idea slowly to minimize the backlash from the community.

Nintendo and Sony are not definitive on whether or not games are coming to xbox gamers, Just know that it's not.
So, phil or xbox will not be definitive on this topic. There is no way to know 10 years from now whether or not it will or won't. They are stuck because they were too transparent. Microsoft should just stop talking and just produce GOTY level games.

Xbox has been hard bodied they need great first party games to make people interested in the brand again. So many flops and dissapointments. Excluding the Forza games. Would love to see some excellent first party games with all the money they have spent on these studios they have bought.
The problem is they bought all their new studios right before this generation so we are just now able to start extracting value.

Phil is a CEO not a game designer so blaming him for the lack of output on Rare's end isn't fair.
What’s all this next gen starts 2026 stuff? There was a leaked document last year or the year before saying next gen console in 2028 which makes more sense. This year we will get Xbox series pro consoles. If there is a handheld it will launch alongside the next gen Xbox in 2028. In 2028 the Xbox handheld will have cpu and gpu similar to that of the series x because by 2028 those components will be outdated and cheaper but still impressive on a handheld.
Those were older documents, before sales of the Series X/S started tanking. So, Microsoft does need to release their next-gen hardware in 2026. Also, Phil stated that the Xbox Series X is their Pro console, so the new Series X coming later this year will be all-digital and likely have more storage, but that's it. Nintendo starts next gen in 2025, followed by Microsoft in 2026, and PS6 in 2027. The handheld is being worked on by the Surface team and will be out in 2026.
