I just revisited Syndicate after playing Valhalla, and I have a deeper respect for it, than I did the first time around. My biggest gripe, besides the obvious ones aforementioned in the video, were hoods. This also applies to all modern AC titles, besides Origins. Every time Jacob and Evie interacted with anything, the game automatically pulled their hoods down. Then when coming out of an obligatory cut-scene they were exposed: whether you were in a stealth scenario or not. This sentiment goes double for Odyssey, which completely did away with hoods altogether. I consider Ubisoft's attitude regarding *hoods* and stealth in general in Assassin's Creed games, to be alarming. Maybe this series just always wasn't that great, if we are being honest with ourselves. We're now going back and praising Unity and Syndicate years later, which were considered sloppy A.F. in their day. TBH, the only fun part of these games anymore is stealth killing historical bastards in an open world setting. The poorly written stories, armor, lack of hoods, magic, mythology, "gods", naval warfare, the animus, the ISU, the modern assassins and templars, Layla Hassan: these are elements no one cares about, and nearly every fan would be happy without. Maybe Assassin's Creed needs a reboot, in the way that what was to become the Prince of Persia reboot, was eventually released under the title Assassin's Creed.
Since the recent games, I have gone back to games like AC rogue and AC syndicate (Im still replaying through syndicate) and to be honest AT THE TIME it released we all might of been like Blahh not that good but compared to the more RPG AC game we have now I can honestly say going back to AC syndicate is fantastic and even a breath of fresh air. To be honest I want AC to go back to these core elements as it feels and looks more like assassins creed.
syndicate was the first assassin’s creed game i played and it’s still my absolute FAVOURITE. i was a total nerd for victorian london when i played it and knew most of the side characters from history class, so that made me very immersed. i adored the frye twins because i found them both relatable in some ways, and i think that while they didn’t seem to get much development, they at least learned to value each other along the way despite their differences. i also loved henry and all the associates. i felt like unlike most assassin’s creed games, the associates/npcs had unique definitive personalities, and that’s what i really loved about the game! i am yet to play odyssey and valhalla, but i’m fairly certain nothing will beat assassin’s creed syndicate purely because of the nostalgia it gives me as one of my first ps4 games ever, as well as one of the only games where i’ve actually fallen in love so deeply with the protagonist solely because of how human they were. evie was also the first female protagonist in a major assassin’s creed instalment, so that definitely plays into it too! i wish they would make another game for jacob and evie. i wish they would make an 8 episode netflix series about jacob and evie. i just really love jacob and evie. an idealistic and cunning young lady, and a snarky young man with daddy issues trying to rid the world of the oppressive grasp of some rich guy with a funky moustache? sign me up PLEASE. have you noticed how a lot of the time, when someone compliments jacob, he looks stunned for a second before saying something sassy in response? you can just TELL that man’s dad never told him he loved him 😭 anyway i would die for the frye twins thank you for coming to my ted talk
I loved the Frye twins too, so underrated! You'll have to visit London some time if you haven't already! England would love to have you :)

Thanks for the review mate. I played Unity before and I love it. I wanted to give this game a try but I see lot of negative comments about it. Watching this vid makes me feel excited playing the game.
Good review, i got syndicate with my new graphics card 2015 and it found it quite enjoyable and it made me check out some of the older titles that i missed out on like unity and black flag. I remember liking the city quite a lot and although the main story wasn't that great the main characters still made it quite charming.
I really don’t remember how I came across this game, but I remember watching yogscast Hannah playing it and a couple years later I got the game after I got my first console. I had gotten very used to syndicates unique style, and was blind to some aspects when I played black flag. But I still think it is an excellent game
Just bought the gold edition of Syndicate and was ready to start playing when I realized that I was, inadvertently, setting myself up to think I was going to have a bad time playing. Not enjoying it at all. I can only imagine it was because of so much negativity I've seen about it since it came out. It's very refreshing to see a video that, without spoilers, shows me the positive side of the game and reminds me of why i love the saga. Really nice work, keep it up!
Ginga here- I would say this game feels super similar to Unity, I never knew it ran on the same engine. However, I enjoyed both so much. I loved the zipline adaptation, added that little bit of extra movement that I never knew I needed. This game played smooth, i do agree the story wasn't over the top, but I thought it was fun! The characters personalities were great! Now on their own they were bland sadly. All in all I did enjoy this game more than most, I do see why people would dislike it too.
I just picked up Unity and Syndicate for 10.00 in Ubisoft forward sale. I skipped both of these when they launched do to bugs. I’d heard they’d been patch and are pretty playable. So for 10.00 I couldn’t say no
Very nice video. I've been interested in sindicate for a while now mainly because of the setting and after watching your video I am even more interested
I was put off this game for ages, but the relative steampunk-y-ness sold it to me in the end. I thought it was pretty decent. You'll have to visit London sometime if you haven't already :)
The four main issues - parkour weakened by grapple everywhere, no balance and a problem of too big world design - ability upgrade equals power so the more I have the more capable I are and more broken the combat becomes - characters formulaic, doesnt get deeper, kinda goes hand in hand to weaker overreaching story of AC not growing - cant leap to your death, player mistakes have been restricted making a very railroaded Ironically strongest stealth but weakened by a player build that makes it pointless
Long story short, I like the 3 new Rpg AC games but Syndicate, Unity, Rogue and AC 3 are amazing games imo. They held onto what made the original 2 so great and ex0anded on them. Black Flag imo isn't an AC game, just a great pirate game in the AC world. I'm so glad that Syndicate toned down the collectables as well, Unity and Revelations were boring AF when it came to this, way too many to collect. And tower defense in Rev? Smh Rev was my least favorite of all AC games and that's sad because Altair is still my favorite Assassin and imo he still news a proper send off. I would hope for an Altair open world game that holds true to the original by it spans his life after AC1 up until his death.
I enjoyed Syndicate and Unity a lot, they're some of my favorites. I never played Revelations, Rogue or AC3, maybe I'll get to them in the future. As for the new RPG AC games, I liked Origin quite a bit for the story and world. I liked the gameplay and combat in Origins as well but I liked the combat in Odyssey more but I thought the story in Odyssey was just alright. However, I'm currently playing Valhalla, and I'm pleasantly surprised how much I'm liking it. It's a long game though, so finishing it will take some time.
The reason people are loving unity is because it’s story in general is wayyyyyy better than the rest of them. It’s basically a better graphic assassins creed 2
The combat is extremely easy, just buitton mash like any batman knockoff. This is a huge downgrade from Unity where precise use of your combat abilities was necessary to win, and there were no "win buttons". This more than anything kills the game for me, knowing I can easily win any fight just by mashing buttons.

'respiratory illnesses have never looked better'
this is why you're my new favourite game reviewer

You should go back to Unity instead. Syndicate is just a really dumbed down version of that.
@W No.
I say it is under rated af

Yea evie is my favorite assassin in the series. I fell in love with both of them also.
I loved the Frye twins too, so underrated!

Oh, very good. I'm working on my AC Unity review! Hoping to have it up in a week at the very latest.
Thank you for the review

Is it well optimised? I got unity and it's laggy af
There aren't as many people on the screen at the same time so it's smoother than Unity, runs better performance wise.
The four main issues
- parkour weakened by grapple everywhere, no balance and a problem of too big world design
- ability upgrade equals power so the more I have the more capable I are and more broken the combat becomes
- characters formulaic, doesnt get deeper, kinda goes hand in hand to weaker overreaching story of AC not growing
- cant leap to your death, player mistakes have been restricted making a very railroaded
Ironically strongest stealth but weakened by a player build that makes it pointless
Do a Unity review!
London is Gorgeous & Evie Rocks. 🍷

Unity, please!?
It might be a little while but I can certainly put it on the list 😀
Assassins Creed is not assassins creed anymore!! 😏
Idk I like eve. She’s dope. Such a badass
This game is ok at best. They should've gave Evie her own game it would've been better and the combat is horrible!
that fack, that you didnt fixed cloak fps to 60 , got me triggered :D :D :D

I couldn’t finish this game, too boring. Too many copy paste npc
bad taste then
Unity was turd
Great reviews and channel. Glad i found out. Im playing this game now. I'm loving it.
