  • I’m taking a fresh approach to designing and constructing a stress-free chicken tractor-one that’s easier to build, move, and maintain. After learning from past mistakes, I’m making key improvements to ensure this build is more efficient, durable, and predator-resistant while keeping things simple and budget-friendly

This is a great plan. I like the chicken tractors. They look to be very versatile.

You should consider making a fence jig for your saw. Basically a 2x2, 8' on one side, 2 feet on the left. Then you hse a block and a clamp (esp. a quick clamp like a vice) and clamp the nlock where the length you are cutting is. Works so much quicker than even what you are doing here, by using a template piece. Just screw it to the fence using rhe holes in it that arw acrually there for that purpose. Just a tip for anyone really that may not be familiar with the method.

You use what tools ya got is right. My neighbor the woodworker moved to FL last month and left me with some of his unfinished outdoorsman themed clocks. I bought the movements and got 3 of the 4 running. But the 4th was in a full inch thick slab of hardwood and he never got to routing out the back for the movement. No router here. I used a 5/8" bit in my drill and drilled a series of holes in the little 2"X2" spot on the back, then used a hammer and chisel to carve it out. Funny thing is that I do have an oscillating tool for my drill, but just figured it was easier to grab the bit, hammer & chisel. 10 minutes later the clock was installed, photoed & listed on marketplace. Very rustic! Would look great in a barn/homestead house. 😂
