In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
Five points to Fred the Swede for returning after an eight series hiatus!
I hope he comes back again. These tasks are hilarious! 🇨🇦
Fred has so much patience. I hope he watches the episodes back when they come out, and has a laugh.
Omg, has it really been 8 whole series?!?!
@@psychomanatee3459 His previous appearance was in another video chat in Series 4, as the contestants made small talk, in English, while putting on a wetsuit. Since then, all that appeared was a picture of him, thrown into a wastebasket in a Series 5 tiebreak.
He was bad mouthing the Prime Minister, Fred's whereabouts are unknown now. 😮
Chris may have performed badly in the Swedish task, but he's very fluent in No-waygian.
👏👏👏
😂😂😂👍
Amazing comment
No way!
*slow 80s movie clap* well done
Judy's only intelligible words being "o for fucks sake" during the tongue task is so on brand
21:43 loved it
I think "motherf*cker" was quite discernible, too
Little Alex Horne: “Which is the worst one?”
Sophie: points directly at Little Alex Horne.
Also very much on brand.
Don’t think I’ve seen Alex Horne ever break character and laugh out loud more than this season.
Ardal O'Hanlan is one of his personal heroes as per his own admission. He was really happy he said yes to appearing on taskmaster
His genuine and visible frustration with Bridget has been amazing
@@thompsonnoel Oh my god, really?? That makes so much more sense now! Every time he broke Alex was literally my favourite thing since the exotic sandwich task! The way he had to duck his head during the cement mixer task was so adorable!
Looked like he was going to have a f***ing aneurism at 15:07 I love how much Bridget puts everyone off kilter. All of the contestants are a little screwy this season, but my goodness, she really does an amazing job of unsettling people.
The season with Fern Brady and Sarah Millican also had Alex breaking character a lot; while Ardal claiming his memory foam mattress doesn't remember him, that still makes me laugh.
(Rhod Gilbert razzing "the Taskmaster" he must have enjoyed) In series 13 the cast seemed to really enjoy each other's company and that picture of Judy (episode 1) is haunting.
The tongue task feels like the closest a task has ever gotten to actual torture
Smash cut to Rhod Gilbert waterboarding Alex with a mocha.
It was torture for viewers too 😂😅
'Create an egg timer' task turned into torture, but not by design.
*Don't. Blink.* Blink and you're *dead.*
The open eyes task was torture.
Ardal is a legeng, singing swedish songs just from his memory had me rolling
One has not only to imagine the frequency, but the buzz and fun doing it, that embedded it so deep.
His questioning of other contestants is legendary hilarity.
@@forallthestupidshit3550 haha, the recreations of their best pictures, when he questioned chris' baby photo, then did, well, that. 🤣
I thought I had fallen into some kind of wormhole or something . I was like that can't be real but it was .... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sophie was robbed in the hat and shoe task. Grief being chased by time? Brilliant.
Like an e. e. cummings poem!
ohhhhh i didn't even get that lol!
Not robbed since its for size but she definitely should've gotten the style point
I know right? And the veil is part of the hat, so it is a big hat!
It was genius.
Judy and Chris having amazing comic chemistry, Ardle being 100% unpredictable, skill-wise, Bridget thinking like someone from outer space and Sophie just doing the most to be a theatrical weirdo make this series so fun.
Alex plans a diverse group each time. That guarantees a wide range of solutions where possible.
This cast is hilarious in exactly the way taskmaster needs.
This is definitely one of the strongest series. Nothing beats series 7 for me personally, but this one is up there
I didn’t think itd become it at the start, but this has been one my favorite groups so far!! 😂😂
@@nyrangersfan05 haha after one episode i said the same, but then quickly realized i said the same almost every season.
now 2 seasons further i think that might've been the perfect cast for me.
"you think Frederick the Swede will call me back, now" made me die laughing. Never been so impressed by non sexual tongue action before.
I would just like to point out that there's an outtake in which Judi Love, qualified social worker, says she wanted to bring in a baby as the best thing to hold over your head and rails at the injustice of not being allowed to bring in a baby as a prize.
It was the first thing I thought. A baby IS the best thing to hold over one's head.
Is that the one where she says "I'm the kind of person that can borrow a dog. That's just how I roll."?
NAAAAAAAAAANTS INGONYAMAAAAAAAAAA BAGITHI BABA
I thought Chris was going to say baby for some reason
Surprised no one brought a toy lion baby.
At 5:54 Ardal makes Alex laugh so hard he turns into Jimmy Carr, that's a rare gift. The look of joy and wonder on Alex's face any time Ardal is speaking is so endearing, he clearly has been waiting for Ardal to say yes.
OMG he really sounds like Jimmy Carr 😂
Knowing this info and watching Alex thru this series he isn't bias but you could see how he lights up everytime Ardal says something
ardal just randomly singing in swedish will never abandon my brain
Alex Horne being completely unable to hold in his absolute joy, mostly at Ardal, was the highlight of the show for me!
Ardal is a joy and delight. Met him at an event a few years ago, and he's lovely.
He's certainly mastered the Irish art of banter even when shite yourself. I've loved watching everything I've ever seen him in, starting with My Hero. Nice to know that he's as pleasant as he seems.
"I don't think I know who I am if I'm not licking those things anymore." - Sophie ❤
26:18
She's a legend 💓⚡
She's an icon.
"the shoes were long with grief" is such an underrated line, if they hadn't had the swedish task and its easy title fodder I would've called the episode that.
Alex saying "but you might as well clap them anyway" sums up this show so incredibly well.
How about Greg's "Don't you dare look away!"?
I cannot put into words the joy I felt seeing Fred again
Ditto!
Sophie is a genius. I think she should've won the hat/shoes task. She even created a character AND a story.
bonus point should have been hers for that!
It’s about Greg. He is the judge. It’s not a public vote .
And blueberries *are* purple.
They do say the trousers are the window to a man’s thighs, and this episode finally proves it!
Thighs are my favorite. I always ask for extra.
Did no one think to bring Fred back into the caravan? According to the letter of the task, they easily could’ve brought him back there, since the only stipulation was that the iPad and the phrase book had to stay in the caravan.
My immediate thought was to just use a translating app on the smartphone
Judi’s answers to the larger than a rat four legged things were amazing
I wasn't ready 🤣🤣🤣

Fredrick is back!! I love him. He is always so socially awkward in an adorable way. But Ardle's Swedish drinking song made him and us laugh. Well done, Ardle.
What’s great about this series is that everyone has an energy like they would have been the beloved but inept last place in any other series
you're so right 😂
I can't even explain WHY I love it when Fred the Swede shows up, but I always do.
Poor Fred, you can see in his eyes just how tortured he is entertaining the challenge XD
For the last task:
To be fair, George Orwell tackled the bird issue in Animal Farm: a bird's wings are meant for propulsion, not for dexterity, therefore they count as legs, not arms.
"I was gagging to put it back on." Simply amazing.
Can we just appreciate the music that they make for this show. It is unique every season and it keeps getting better, please release a taskmaster soundtrack!!!!
alex seemed to genuinely regret that tongue task...
I am curious to know how that particular task came about. It seems like a drunken challenge gone sideways.
I live the tasks where Alex says "we didn't think people were going to see it that way."
It was at that moment he knew
The only task ever that I was unable to watch.
It was gross and Alex was up close to the real thing.
There hasn't been a cast I have not enjoyed and this group is definitely up there with the best 😭😭😂
I'm so surprised Chris was so startled in the shoe/hat task.I love how he's always so up for everything.
I love Alex’s laugh so much, it’s so infectious
I love that his type of laugh is "I didn't thinknthat was going to be this funny."
I am both impressed and terrified by Sophie after this episode.
I love Alex Horne’s laugh so much. Sush a wholesome and contagious laugh
Right?! And that little gap between his teeth
I think this is the most Alex has laughed.
Judy and Chris would make a crazy duo if theyre placed in the same team ngl
I wish they switched the teams on the stage task in this episode, I could see a slightly-less hostile repeat of Ed and David taking place if those two were teamed up
The biggest reason why Taskmaster UK works more then the spin-offs I think is Greg's reactions. The other taskmasters are more stone faced, uncaring and slightly demeaning like they're expecting the contestants to fail; Greg reacts and responds to them a lot more and when he is demeaning the tone is that of someone who genuinely expected better of them and plays off this whole idea of "I'm disappointed you didn't live up to your potential".
Greg is mercurial and overbearing. Other Taskmasters have managed that as well. The US and Spanish ones didn’t work for me. (The Australian one is new this year)
That's the teacher in Greg resurfacing.
I think the biggest reason is that Greg is actually invested in the show and it performing well, plus he really appears to be there to just be entertained by a group of pet monkeys. Other Taskmaster came to a finished concept, dont try to build upon it and honestly look like the show is a chore for them and not like they have 5 clowns in palm of their hand. Greg wants to laugh and wants the audience to laugh as well and i dont see that in any of the spin-offs
A big problem with the American one was that the cast were genuinely mean-spirited and there was no sportsmanship of any kind. Like that was going to be something people want to watch; rich a-holes being genuinely unkind to each other.
The Americans couldn't figure out how to compete with one another without having a "you're all bad people who don't deserve to win" attitude.
One of my favorite things about the OG taskmaster is the good-natured competitive spirit and always ends with the cast clapping and laughing for each other. The Americans made the audience feel like they should dislike the other competitors, because Americans don't know how to disagree with others without vilifying.
I recommend giving the Australian one that came out this year a shot. IMO strong Taskmaster as well 🙂
Bridget's joke at the end got missed she literally said "I rubbed one out" and it was the word pen*s 😂
I know he was just standing by his "back in the game" joke, but the paddle deserved to be higher than the fan. People really do use paddles for things like bingo and auctions while no one holds a fan above their head, maybe up to their face but not above.
Sophie’s commitment to the task here is… just incredible.
Throughout this series: Sophie has got probably the most interesting mind. Something in addition to the comedy.
I think Sophie and Rhod Gilbert would be amazing at team tasks.
@@stichtingmichael2015 omg they would be brilliantly bizarre
"The shoes were long with grief", such poetry
Fred looking down into his tea through the ipad while his conversation with Sophie loses steam...Well acted Fred
Sophie joining Rhod in the hall of pain
Alex was feeling extra silly in this episode. Couldn’t stop from laughing
Alex's pronunciation of "bäst i test" at 7:34 was really good! I haven't even seen the task yet but I'm giddy with anticipation.
I’d quite forgotten Ardal’s hidden singing talent... 👍🏼👍🏼
One of my favorite things about Ardal is his unexpected talents and one-liners.
21:44 That perfectly understandable, "Oh for fuck's sake..."
"I was wondering how he wouldn't be here" is a great quote.
Judi Love is an absolute icon
I think Alex and Greg had a talk between seasons. Their improv at the beginning used to be a lot more whimsical but after season 4 Greg just resorted to saying "shut up" or ignoring Alex or cutting him off. Now they are back to Greg actually being interested in Alex's bit. I think they either got bored of Greg just being angry all the time or Alex got sick of that being his only response.
Sophie with one of the all-time great efforts on the tongue task!
"That's the most normal I've seen you walk all series" 🤣
I knew Sophie would totaly escalate in the tongue contest. One of my favourite participant of all Time!
I'm crushing big time personally, I thought Brigette was adorable in that first interview while walking, but Sophie has stolen my heart. 😁💕
The kind of commitment we haven't seen in a long while
honestly her incredible sportsmanship and creativity deserves to win, I'm dying to see what happens today when they release the final!
for the first time ever, I had to really look away from a task :o) Nice of them to give the warning. However it didn't subtract from the awesomeness of the episode.
I actually fast-forwarded. First time ever!
23:20 "my tongue can't go farther than this" instantly sticks it out farther multiple times
Yeah. That was debatable until the end of her footage. Then it became clear...
I don't think I've seen Alex crack up as much in one episode as this one. Love when he loses composure and cracks up.
My favorite cast yet
Mine too. ❤
Series 11 - "I love this cast, how can it be beat?"
Series 12 - "I love this cast, how can it be beat?"
Series 13 - "I love this cast, how can it be beat?"
Got high expectations for when I watch Series 14
Judi should have gotten an extra point for bringing up the classic song from Swedish pop band ABBA, "Too per super"...
I would learn the phrase, "Can you tell me a 5 minute story about your life."
I was holding my tongue out in solidarity but it turns out I can't do that while involuntarily gagging at the sight of all that drool
Glad to see the continuity of Judi not touching other people's shoes with her bare hands carrying through from her asking for gloves during Shoe Who?
™️ is the most consistently well-filmed and edited show I’ve ever seen.
Sophie's double-take on "rain" is hilarious
"It's individual because it's everybody's style."
"I'm only a nine!" Don't sell yourself short, Chris.
"I want to eat herring... Are you herring?" might be as good as "Do we strike you?"
40:18 Alex’s little head tilt just makes it extra hilarious.
My god, only after several rewatches did I realize that Bridget listing rain as purple was a Prince reference and not her usual oddness.
I did not know I needed to see thigh-high boot Alex until today.
Truly one of the banters of all time.
Ardal and the Swedish task will always be my favorite. 😂
sophies right tho! technically blueberries are a deep purple, not blue!
The juice is very purple. The berries are blue with some purple tinges. Sometimes.
Outside is blue, inside is purple. Is an apple red or pale yellow?
(P.S. AN apple. I know very well apples range in colour.)
I haven't had one since I was a kid, but looking at the pictures, don't they have a waxy coating that makes them look more blue than they really are?
Randy Feltface (Who, in fact, is purple himself) would loudly agree
@@davidwalton3604 Huh. I am now rather confused as to how on earth blueberries are supposedly those colours on the inside yet manage to match the truly purple bilberries quite nicely when you eat them.
It seems to me that this is the first episode in which LAH has actually laughed so much.
Although to be fair, we usually do not see him (or see only his back) when the contestants are actually doing their tasks.
Still a bit miffed about Sophie being absolutely robbed in the hat/shoes task. She had everything. Length, fashion, A MESSAGE. A tragedy, ngl.
What I wanna know is how they discovered this combo made the mouth salivate uncontrollably lmao
Alex keeps breaking character in this one, mustn't have had enough sleep
Never have i ever thought anyone would reach the awkwardness of Alex Horne.... until Ardal came by holding a ping pong bat over his head to attract museum goers.
I'm surprised nobody called out Bridget in the tongue task. Was I the only one who caught that she only stuck the tip of her tongue out and said that it was as far as it goes, but then it went out further at the end of the task?
I saw that too. Tsk tsk, Bridget.
Well, nobody believed that was her tongue but they went with it for this time (for whatever reason). But nobody was surprised that she had more tongue.
To me it looked like her tongue was the same length throughout, it was just how far forward or backwards her lips were. It’s less that she has a short tongue and more that she has long lips. The shape of her tongue suggests she does have a least a moderate amount of untreated tongue tie
All of us born with severe ankyloglossia began weeping at 19:02 and haven’t stopped since. 😢
I went to school with a girl with this in the early 1970s. Cheer up. You could have had what I have: a restricted rib cage. No room to grow the heart and lungs to adult size. Which limited my life experiences invisibly. It’s only after 50 that I realized I was physically behind everyone else and never realized why...
@@redelfshotthefood8213 it's not a competition wtf
@@ohspookster I was awkwardly trying to reassure these folks that it’s not so bad.
In the longest shoes and biggest hat task Ardal seemed quite surprised when Alex told him, that the task was completed. It made me think that this could have been a good opportunity for a second part of the task 😅.
21:44 I fricking love how you can perfect,y understand that bit 😂😂
God I love this show
43:03 😂
They were on sync! And that’s an uh…interesting answer
In the swidish task why didnt they take the ipad and run back into the caravan for having the chat with the help of dictionary xD
That’s a new take.
Did anyone else notice that Chris wrote "Tennis Racket" for best thing to put in your mouth? I'm surprised Greg didn't comment on that.
He probably did and it didn't make the edit.
Doesn't specify lick size. Doesn't say you have to lick the inside part of the lemon. Doesn't say you can't turn off the fan.
Another full episode? *GNO WHEY*
Wooooooooooow! 😉
Alex has the same laugh as me and Judi is the funniest contestant so far 😂
welcome back fred!!!! i've genuinely missed him and was so excited to see him back
Ardal knowing a drinking song in a language he doesn't speak is the most Irish thing I've seen on this show.
The subtitles say *Celtic music plays* but it is, in fact, the Swedish national anthem playing and I think this may be cause for war
Fred is back!!
Tak
Blue berries are absolutely purple as they ripen. It's also called "blue pink" because usually ripening blue berries are not homogeneous in color. But sometimes they are and it's purple.
I didn’t appreciate Judy at the beginning of this series, but I have grown to absolutely love her.
GOD i just realised what alex meant when he said "it's time to find out who's the best i test" i just thought he forgot how to speak for a second
I loved that they called the speaking Swedish part Bäst i Test
I love bridgett's brother taking an opportunity to troll her.
"Say *swedish stuff*"
"Well you just asked about the prime minister and thats a heavy topic good luck Bridge!"
The phrase “are you herring”? pops into my mind every now and then. And his surprise at the answer being no
Ardal’s spiel about the ping pong paddle is one of the funniest things I’ve seen
