For the "is there anything better about being a woman" question, I worked at build-a-bear for about three years and it infuriates me how difficult it is for little boys to like cute things and bright colors. So much of what's made for them is harsh, cold, dark colors, people fighting. If that's what the kid likes fine, but not all boys like that stuff, just like not all girls like pink frilly things. Seeing parents not allow their boys to even have the option of a more "girly" toy was always really upsetting. This almost never happened the other way around, I never saw a little girl who wasn't allowed to get a male superhero or star wars character, it was even encouraged. But boys were always feircely protected from anything pink. Once a little girl asked her younger brother if he wanted the pink or blue backpack and her mom snapped "he is not getting pink" at her. Once a boy wanted a Rey bear, and when the parent said "is that a girl bear though?" my coworker and I both very quickly went into "She's the main character" and even then the parent was hesitent. The worst was a dad who didn't even want to put a free heart in the bear because "it's for a boy." Like what? Are you saying boys are heartless? I think this is part of why Pokemon is so popular. Sure they fight, but they're something cute and brightly colored that boys are allowed to like without it being a thing. And then a really nice story. A mom came in to get a princess bear for "herself." Her kindergarden age son wanted a princess bear, but he already picked up the idea that he wasn't suppose to like that stuff. So his mom was getting herself a bear that he was allowed to play with. So, some parents are really great, but it still blows my mind how far back we are on letting boys like this stuff.
That's a really good point. As a girl who always liked toys for boys, I wasn't particularly encouraged and my parents often bought me dolls as well, but I was never explicitly forbidden from playing with like dinosaurs and LEGO. Why do you think that is? Are toys for girls seen as inferior because they're often like homemaking stuff whereas toys for boys are often heroes or different professions? Or do we as a society just have more rigid categories for men than women?
@@TheEwqua I think that's part of it! It's probably pretty varried from person to person. But undervaluing the work that's traditionally done by women is definately part of it.
I'm reminded of the infographic someone made where it says "Is this a girl or a boy's toy" and the next step in the flow chart was "do you operate the toy with your genitals?" "Yes" led to "this is NOT a toy for children", and the "No" led to "its both a boy's and a girl's toy". Its really sad that toys and other stuff in general is gendered so heavily. Blame capitalism. They realised that you could take the same toy, change the colour up and market it to two different demographics and BOOM parents now feel like they have to buy twice as much stuff. Its a relatively recent thing (this side of the 1940-50s) because prior to that, babies would be dressed in the same things as their older siblings regardless of what gender their parents classed them as. But colour code the genitalia and suddenly it seems not ok to dress baby John in older sister Jill's babygrows. Same with toys. The gendered marketing was just a ploy to get people to spend more and now society thinks its a norm to follow.

Cirque Colors has basic cremes for really quality, and so does Orly for cheaper when you compare the price to the amount in each bottle ($8-9 for 18 milligrams as opposed to the $12 for 12 milligrams that is characteristic of indie brands). I hate when people say that "famous" people always need to be okay with fans taking pictures...such bs, that's just not true. I think you're right to talk negatively about these situations and sorta "complain" about it
@@soupsinha i have bags. I also require pockets. Women now are so obsessed with bags that they will be sold regardless of pockets. A bag can ruin an outfit too. It is under the guise of not needing anything (cause ya know. No phones.) And nice clothes alwayd being with a man anyways. It's literally a thing since we wear tighter clothes. Since it doesn't look as good. And designers don't want that. So don't leave the choice with the woman to use the pockets or nah. Ever seen victorian pockets? They are HUGE.

My favourite thing in this video is how loving and interested Ben is, how he's constantly learning her and respecting her way of thinking, how he looks at her😍❤ so cute
When Cristine said "insecure narcissists" I felt that so much. I had an old friend who I used fo be close with, and it was fine fir a while, but then he became really weird. He would shut out his friends, refuse to hang out with us, and so on. Thats all fine sure, but then he would be upset if you didnt check on him daily (even though he would never open up or do the same) and he would get furious if he wasnt invited to an activity (even though he never joined us or say he would then bail last minute). My friends and I finally dropped him as a close friend and stopped talking to him because he would use us and he only thought of us as "friends" when we were wrapped around his finger. Its a frustrating personality type to try and be around and I dont think I can do that to myself again.
Just personally, taking someones picture without their permission (famous or not) should not be an acceptable behavior. The fact that it is, says something horrific about our society.
Honestly most mature folks don't consider it acceptable to record someone without their consent. It's mostly the entitled parents and the gen z kids who grew up in the era of social media stars like the Paul brothers.
@@Kiterpuss for youtubers i mostly agree with you but i still thinks its a learner behavior and they learnered it from non-gen z's, for example TMZ where they so the same things and get paid for harassing "celebrities" (the definition of which isnt always clear). No one, regardless of their public influence should have to worry about being harassed when they leave their homes. That shouldnt be a price we, as society, make them pay for their success in entertaining us. I also think it leads to creepy stalkerish behavior in people who wouldnt otherwise exhibit that behavior but thats just based on things ive seen and heard.
I worked in a casino owned and operated by native Americans located in Connecticut. One day I wore my dark hair in two braids. Guest: Are you Native American? Me: No. Guest: Can I take your picture? Me: No. Guest: Well I’m going to take it anyway. Me: *Puts hand up to block camera* Please don’t. *Walks away* I still think this guy snapped a pic of me anyway and probably went home and bragged that he saw a “real Indian”. (There were lots of native Americans working at the casino but they did not fit the stereotypical Native American look.)
@@rayeofsunshine83 That is terrible (and terribly rude to not listen when someone says they don't want their photo taken). And that is our fault as a society for making that behavior normalize and acceptable (even if there is a large portion of the population that understands it is neither normal or acceptable) but I don't know how we go about enacting a wide spread change. Especially now as gen z's become adults thinking this is okay or a part of the way the world works. And that's not even touching on the blatant racism being exhibited in that situation.
It's so rude to take pictures of someone without asking permission... I really thought that would just be basic manners. It's one thing to want a picture, but like, ask. No matter who it is.

Ugh, man or woman I had it rough in conversations as a quiet person. But yea there's always a rando that doesn't get the flow of convo. Either way I sat them down and told them to shut up and let me talk. ~ It's not a problem anymore!~
Cristine, I love watching these podcasts because I feel like we’re similar people, and seeing someone like me (dropped classes with public speaking/“blacks out” when being on the spot, but still loved learning and being a student, etc) who is also successful is really inspiring :)
Those were truly the worst. I know on one project I outright removed a group member's name and spoke to the professor to give them a heads up because that person didn't do any work at all. That one wasn't a presentation but it was a paper type project. That person was pissed so I just told them, well you didn't do anything and the rest of us did your work. No work, no credit. 🤷
Nurse here. What Cristine described for getting her stitches is a common thing. We have to do it when working on children so that they do not move and cause us to injure them as we're working on stitches, inserting IVs, making an incision, ect.

Some of those things you don't need to do though. Like shaving legs. There is no health reason why women require shaved legs. Men don't need to shave their legs and neither does anyone else. I gave up shaving/waxing years ago now. My hair always grew back quick enough that I'd get the equivalent of a 5 o'clock shadow that people who shave their beards get, but on my legs and arm pits. It felt like a pointless battle to fight. So I gave up. Feel free to give up too if you hate doing it so much. :)

I hate when people say that "famous" people always need to be okay with fans taking pictures...such bs, that's just not true. My brain and Ben's: The patriarchy
Cristine: It's hard to pee

Patriarchy lol
I think she nail it because patriarchy is a bad thing about society not women :)

Agreed. 🙏
*Walks away*
I still think this guy snapped a pic of me anyway and probably went home and bragged that he saw a “real Indian”.

There’s something so nostalgic about the Fall and going to school and the smell of the air, going to hang with friends and picking cozy outfits 🎃🍂
