I think I have a green cheek conure but mine doesn’t look anything like yours (by color) mine have a yellow and red chest and pink cheeks so I think it’s a pineapple conure
They are very cuddly and can be a bit more nippy once they get into the hormonal phase but great companions. Mine is very energetic and the typical 'clown' personality for birds. Though I wouldn't call them that quiet xD. When he wants to yell at the birds outside or scream while he plays with his toys...he screams all right. He can be quiet for a good amount of time but talks when he has to say something. Would still recommend personally cockatiels over a GCC for a starter bird just because of that nippiness even though I adore the personality of my GCC. Always depends on what you are looking for in a bird of course!
Everything you said is spot on. A great description of my GCC Milton. The only thing I would add is that somewhere around 2 or 3 years old, they go through a difficult adolescent period where they get nippy and aggressive for a little while. I share this because so many people will remove or give up on their conure at this time. Not realizing that this is only a phase they go through and they will go back to their sweet cuddly self if this period is handled correctly.
The best way to handle this phase is to give your bird lots of attention when it's being good and zero attention when it bites. You must act as though the bite didn't hurt or he will bite more. If you get bit, put the bird down and walk away. Keep the attitudeh of no attention as long as. the bird is biting. I have s bird room, so I close the door. Don't use the cage for a time out or they will see their cage negatively. The time you spend positively is the most important. Play with them, cuddle them and give it treats. As it realizes you are their friend and that you don't play when they bite, they will become a wonderful companion and lots of fun.
I LOVE my GCC. she is an absolute sweetheart and the best with kids. Even when she makes noise, she is still very quiet compared to most birds. She also talks but she still has a bird accent as I like to call it.
Bird accent is a good way of putting it. About one in ten times it can be distinct. Occasionally, he can do the gimme kiss, smacking sound and thank you clearly. If there was any benefit of lockdown it was all of the time together. The harder you try, the smarter he gets.
I have researched SO MANY videos to become better educated on breeds of birds. This is hands down the best overview! Not to mention, extremely educational in a package that is short and condensed for younger researchers who may or may not be considering adding a bird to their family. This reminds me of the popular Animal Planet videos that condense the main topics when considering breeds of dogs or cats. Please do more breeds!! These are great! Love the news you cover to bring awareness to the bad people trying to make money rather than better the lives of animals and people!!
This was one of the videos that really helped me narrow down my pick for parrots! I'm now the owner of an extremely clingy pineapple gcc. He's about 9 months now and I got him at 3 months. Your video is pretty spot on, but I will say that from my own experience and what I've read, the male gcc's tend to be more territorial and nippier than the females in terms of a "friendliness scale". Despite my best abilities, Lichi has become very territorial of me around other people, even people he had previously been fine being handled by in his earlier months. He immediately goes on the defensive around other people, and though he's more used to my housemates (who's he's been introduced to and handled by from the first few weeks of bringing him home), he still gets aggressive and will bite if they get too close to him now. Right now, he's also become much nippier with even me, though I'm hoping its seasonal and due to his molting period. He's still 100% attached to me and yes, he's extremely cuddly and affectionate. But he will also bite me out of nowhere unprovoked or get angry about the most random things. Again, hoping he's just irritated from his molt and will soon get over this phase. I like to joke now that he wakes up every morning and chooses violence. Someone else here mentioned that gcc's are notorious for getting into things they shouldn't and should have constant supervision outside of their cage. That they're smart enough to be disobedient and I 100% agree with this! Lichi is very smart, and he picks up his training insanely quickly. But he also has, as mentioned in this video, "big bird personality". He will willfully ignore me or be disobedient like the sass master he is, and he 100% knows what he's doing. It's a roadblock I've run into in his training that I'm trying to overcome, because he will learn commands and tricks quickly, but will conveniently "forget" everything if he's not in the mood. This has made recall training difficult because he will only respond during training sessions but not outside of it unless he's in the mood. Definitely a huge personality in a small body. But overall, I adore him and I don't regret getting him. As in the video, he's very quiet! He mainly makes quiet murmuring/chirping noises around me, but not constantly. The only time he screeches is when he's surprised, there's loud noise (like loud arguing/shouting matches in a movie) or him screeching because I left the room without him (gcc's are drama queens). But it's not often and I'd vouch for gcc's being great apartment pets. Very cuddly, attached to your hip, won't let you out of their sight. They will want to follow you everywhere you go, even just to take a dump. He's overall a very sweet and affectionate bird (only to me). I'm his walking, breathing jungle gym as he just crawls all over my body, plays with my hands or hair, climbing over my face, etc. Even as I'm typing this he's weaving himself through my fingers and rolling around.🤣 I will say though, since this video was released, we're all aware that costs of parrots have drastically increased from recession and an overall shortage of parrots. Your video says an average of $300-$400, but when I was shopping around in January of 2022, the average cost for gcc's was $500-600 in the USA. Color mutations (turquoise, pineapples, yellow-sided, etc) were even higher, in the $600-900 range. Lichi is a pineapple gcc and I got him for $800 from my local bird store in NJ. I will say that Lichi was a bit on the higher end for pineapples since there were breeders down south selling their pineapple clutches for around $600, but the cost to ship them pretty much balanced out the cost of getting one locally (around $150-200 to ship). But I've seen $900 pineapples here too. I saw suncheek mutations going for $1000-1200.
I had a Green Cheek when I was a child and my mom was going through knee replacement. I wanted my mom with a GCC after seeing one at a store. I found young baby girl! She is the sweetest one Imaginable! We give her so much love and she is so happy
I love your way of presenting analysis of the breeds: handleability, quieteness..etc. And the honesty with which you talk about strengths and weaknesses, pro and cons, based on your personal experience. You make very clear videos and you are very funny nice!! I like your videos and hope to see other breed described. PS. the green cheek conure seems to me a parrot among the most interesting for me ...In theory I would like to find, if it existed, a parrot (but also a non-parrot bird) that was mainly: 1-calm and never screaming aloud 2. fond and loving. 3 who loves physical contact.
Mine, too! I got lucky, she’s so quiet. My lovebirds are noisier! And super cuddly and affectionate, gives kisses, spends all day on my shoulder or my husband’s 😊
@@MostDecentNA That's awesome. I mean, I 'do' wish my GC was quieter, but then maybe he wouldn't talk as much as he does, and pretty clearly too. I work from home, at a computer. He sits in the crook of my elbow all day, as I work.
I came back and watched this after a year of having my green cheek. She is a DNA sexed female. Everything you said applies to her except the loudness and talking. She is almost as loud as my Indian Ringneck and she has a ~20 word vocabulary that she uses in context. If you have the time to put into the them and talk to them a lot. They can learn just as much as other birds. 😊
@@Fivesaflock I have a 2 and a half yr old female and she is an excellent talker. Funnily enough the first thing she ever said to me was "would you like a nutriberry" Not hello ,or hi or anything like I expected. She speaks very quietly until she practices a word for awhile , but after that it's maximum volume!
Very Loud when they are juvenile. We just got a baby Green Cheek Conure. Born in July. No DNA yet. He/she is already stepping up and bonded. But when we leave the room. OMG. Its a crazy 10 min. But love your channel. And yes very small. Oh cost was over $$1200.00 for cage and birb. That's not including all the toys food. Pellets. We had to buy covers for our heaters. We live in the north. Radiant heat can kill your bird !! I don't find many bird channels saying this enough !! Radiators will kill your bird. They sell covers for birbs.....
I've had Sky (Pineapple GC) since she was 4 months old. She is almost 5 now. I cannot imagine life without her. It surprised me how affectionate she is. She gives me birdy kisses all the time. Plus, she rubs the side of my face with hers constantly. She says half a dozen phrases like "I love you" "What are you doing?" "Pretty bird." ......etc. She learned all those phrases in the first two years. Since then, she has not spoken anything new so there seems to be a critical period for learning speech.
I love this channel. I don’t have a bird anymore since I’m in college so I love watching other people enjoying their birds until I have my own place and the ability to get one of my own again :)
Thanks to your informative video (This one and best beginner parrots) my friend got an almost 5 week old Green Cheek today!!! Your vids are concise & to the point and you don’t pull any punches! Great pros & cons of GC & other parrot species. Really helped her narrow it down to a GC! Really appreciate your vids! Anyway thanks again!!!
I love my black capped conure. she's with me all the time. A brat but the best pet or bird ever! She talks quite a bit though and pronounces words and phrases better than I do. I agree though they are very affectionate.
My GCC has a lot of attitude, it’s pretty funny. She is well-behaved for the most part, but sometimes she’s not in the mood to step up. When I’m trying to put her back in her cage and she doesn’t want to go, she WILL fight me. Either biting the heck out of my hand or being aggressive towards the perch I want her to step up on. She can squawk quite a lot for attention. When I shower she squawks up a storm. But when she’s quiet it’s like she’s not even there. She really loves to just be with me and likes to lean against me or snuggle my neck and fall asleep. It kills me (with cuteness) every time.
My GCC us my absolute best friend! :D He's a yellowsided turquoise called Thanos; My father is fond of him as well as we consider him a member of our family. He says "Baby (boy)" when calling for me. It's not perfect, but he's awesome! he says other things, but as you said, they're not proficient, so whatever else he says/mimics is difficult to understand, lol! Sometimes during the hormonal season, he gets very nippy, but I learned to read his body language and left him alone if he had that "look" He LOVES spending the day with me; sometimes he prefers hanging out somewhere else and that's fine. Best bird ever!
Dude, your videos are great! You should come back. I love my GCC. She's my best friend and is super smart! She does tricks, talks really well and actualy in context, and she's toilet trained. I work from home, so I spend a lot of time with her.
Just found out your channel now, when I was searching on information about parrot pets/the best one for an apartment/best for beginners, etc. You answer all my questions and I still have tons os vídeos to look at. Your videos are short, you go straight to the point and tell all the important information. I was sad noticing that your last video was 1 year ago, hope everything is okay. I would like to see new videos with new information, care tips, etc. Thank you for these videos! Take care.
Ended up bonding with a GCC at my work place back in 2019. I brought her home after five months of working with her and she's been my best friend since. She spends most of her day with me, is generally quiet (she'll call for me when she wants out of her cage,) and loves to cuddle! She'll be five this upcoming March. I couldn't have asked for a better bird!
Nice vid, your conure is waay more friendlier than mine lol. One of them hates leaving the cage and doesn’t bother flying on anyone but is chill. The other one gets on everyone it sees but you can’t touch it or it’ll go crazy 😂 still love em
My pineapple GCC is a female and has a vocabulary of around 40 words and repeats full sentences. My other girl talks but only says about 5 words. They are totally “pocket cuddle puppies” ❤
Petsmart has them for a VERY high price and they are in bad health due to overbreeding. Get one from a breeder! Our petsmart has one for 750 dollars, you can get one that is hand raised from a breeder for under 400.
Had a Query but first, Really love your work. No one summarises and explains parrots as well as you. Thank you. My question was, there are so many mutations of the green cheek conures, would you say their personality is the same or close to the Green cheeks? Thanks again.
Currently looking for a bird, and loving this series. I love the upfront description of the real cons, because birds are mostly advanced pets to own. I owned two cocktiels for about 15 years myself!
Glad I could help! Also make sure to do your own independent research as there's only so much you can fit into a video. Also check out my video "are parrots good pets" as parrots in general aren't "beginner pets" to begin with.
My 16 year old GCC does amazingly talk. Her name is Chica and she says her name with an attitude lol. She says good morning chicken, good girl, starting to work on i love you and makes a kissing sound. She's so much fun and sweet....great video
@@FiveTwoSevenTHR I've never had a Love Bird, but they seem tiny. My cockatiel is slightly bigger than some I've owned and see...so I gues we can't judge by the parrots size. BTW: I love my Cockatiel's. Thanks.
Love my GCC Paul. He loves to chomp the heck out of my fingers and especially my toes if I let him run around on the floor of my room (which he loves to do). Regardless of that he is so precious and sweet, loves to "preen" the hairs on my face and rub his neck on my ear. Demands constant attention and is incredibly intelligent. Not only has figured out every conceivable way to break out of his cage, but he can tell if I'm upset and cuddles up under my chin to make me happy. He is so loving and caring and I'd never trade him for anything. Best decision ever to add him to my life, even if I do have to remind people that he's rambunctious with that beak of his!
My green cheek is a Maroon Belly and is so amazing to live with. Im not gonna lie looking at videos of green cheeks and then looking at mine makes me feel like I am dreaming XD. To live with Savern is a honor and a blessing because she/he is a very social and talkative bird so, it makes it easy to just admire her/he up close and from afar.
I juat recently purchased or adopted a GCC instead of a Senegal. I never regretted buying him. ❤ He was neglected and possibly abused but very nippy. Not aure how to get him to stop biting. Please come back. I love your videos.
Hi Coro, I absolutely love your videos, so thank you... but one little gripe please... on the basis of what you have said (namely that Green Cheeks are cuddly and, in one of your clips, said were one of the least likely to be nippy) I am collecting two sisters this week. However, I have joined a Green Cheek Conure web group that is full of people saying how hormonal they are and how much they bite, really quite hard, on a regular basis - even the hand reared ones that were very loving when they were young. I posed a question on this site that has thousands of members asking how many of them, if they knew what they know now, would still have gotten this bird.... and have been inundated with responses saying that, though they love them and how great they can be, very many would never have taken them on knowing how vicious they can continue to be, many showing pictures of some awful scarring from continuous bites over the years. Now I have to collect these two girls (as I can't let the seller down) that I sadly don't want to get attached to,. Again, think you're great, but it seems your experience (so far) with your conures isn't close to the whole picture, as I don't think you have mentioned how hormonal they get and how they can bite on a regular basis (well, not in any of your vids that I've seen). Thank you anyway... I will definitely keep watching as I've no doubt you've expressed your own experience - and at the end of the day, that's what your site is about. Kind regards, Michelle (UK)
You haven't met my GC Link, lol. One of the reasons I got a green cheek was because the research I did led me to believe they're cuddlier birds. So naturally Link can't sit still for more than 30 seconds, let alone long enough to be cuddled, haha. He won't even let me help preen his face. Oh and he's a screamer too, every time something goes by the window or anyone goes up or down the stairs; and those screams are loud... He's also a chewer, on hands, my desk, my mousepad, cords, everything, so I've got to watch him like a hawk. But I love him anyhow. He is super trainable and food motivated, so that has been fun. Also, where does one get a GC sized flight cage for $60?!
I remember my Green Cheek Conure before he unfortunately passed away (he got killed by a dog owned by a guy my mom knows). He was so cute and sweet. I still kinda miss him.
Mine love veggies, fruits and pellets. Mine only sleep in their cage. THEY WILL STEAK YOUR HEART. THEY ARE MY FAVORITE BIRD AND I CANT GET ENOUGH OF THEY.
I had a GCC and when I bought it from the breeder, I noticed his feet were slightly splayed. The dealer got quite angry and defended himself. So not knowing much about them I took him home. Lovely bird but after a year he broke his wing in flight after hitting something in my apartment. When he was taken to the vet, they did an xray and biopsy. the vet said he had cancer all over his body and would not survive. My impression was that (like you said), GCC are not hardy birds. They are fragile and light. But also, I think the breeder may have interbred them which may have resulted in the bird having cancer, which seems unusual for a parrot. He was a great and lovely parrot. His name was Bobby.
Ask me about GCC bring delicate... Both mine got themselves crushed in to death.. both got crushed due to startle flight! I miss that love and hug but literally thinking about if i should be getting another GCC or go for a bigger size like sun conure or jenday..
Would you recommend one for a college dorm? I'm disabled and I have a service dog, I will also need a small ESA for when I am in my dorm. The dorm I will be staying in is a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment style dorm. I will have my own large bedroom. I plan on getting a 37x31x20 cage. While I am in my dorm room I plan on leaving the door open so my bird can roam about in my room. I want to put some perches on the outside of the cage and have a large playpen on top of the cage and on my desk. I've wanted a conure for YEARS but I've never had the space. I was planning on bringing one of my cats with me to college but all 5 of my cats are bonded and it would be wrong to take one of them. I can't take my pet chickens to college of course. And my pet snake has a 5ft long enclosure so he won't be coming either. I've decided to get a conure!
Avoid Old World Parrots, meaning parrots on the eastern hemisphere. Generally species on old world continents produced dust to repel water while New World parrots on the western hemisphere produce Oils to repel water. But with any allergies, it's always best to try and schedule a meeting with a breeder to interact with some non-dusty birds to know for sure as some people are more sensitive.
My female gcc talks so much and can be incredibly loud when throwing tantrums She is amazing and extremely intelligent, she doesn’t like cuddles or head scratches however
Thank you for this nice and useful video. My first parrot was budgie and I am thinking about getting this species. Can you please make a video about Quaker parrot/Monk parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus)?
Can you please please please do a similar rating video on sun conure? Talking, noise level, cuddle, taking care, personality, size, maintaining, . Will you please do a video on Sun Conures 😢
I was wondering if you think it would be to leave a GCC alone for 10-12 hours while I work. I work about three 12 hour shifts a week with the other days off at home.
I have green cheek conure male and he is not very cuddly. Hes a calm percher and forager. Females are more cuddly than males. Buyers beware. Do I regret my bird? No because he talks and he is calmer but sassy. He was worth every penny that was spent... ❤
Great GCC overview, your greenie is v pretty! I have had mine about 18 months now, a sweet bird overall but the only issue is the over clingy behaviour, if either of us leave the room she’ll follow otherwise she’ll call out which is pretty loud, luckily we don’t have close neighbours, she’ll often screech in the mornings too but not for long. I’d love to get her company like a budgie but for the reasons you mention we’ve been unsure, would hate to see her attack them or remove its toes!
Your gc probably calls out because it's trained you and associates screaming when you leave as you coming back to give her attention. I would first recommend trying to work on that first and breaking that association by ignoring it, then giving attention when she quiets down. That will associate quietness as bringing you back. Getting multiple birds to be buddies with each other can generally lead to poor behavior towards owners and will generally lead to birds being nippy to owners and preferring other birds for company.
Mine bullies my 3 Amazon parrots, they’re all scared of her. But she’s the best with humans. Loves, loves, loves people and is crazy sweet with anything that isn’t another bird 😅
We literally just adopted a 7 year old GCC from a rescue in Battle Creek MI named Marley (three days ago). I was expecting a certain amount of time before he engaged with us, but within 30 minutes of us putting him in his cage and him finding his food bowl, he was on my hub’s shoulder because he flew to it. And he’s already following us and flock calling. And trying to steal food. And being very chatty. Very. I wonder what he will be like when he really lets us in. ****the name of the rescue is Birds and Beaks, and it is not easy or quick to adopt a bird. A contract must be signed where we won’t breed, sell or give away the bird, and they want to see the cage setup, pictures and videos of the house, overall size of the house and location of the cage, other pets, etc. It’s obvious they take great care of their residents and they are always happy to answer questions. They made it easy on us with diet and as we know, our birbs can be finicky. If you’re looking for a rescue to donate to, or adopt if you’re within range of the state, please check them out ❤
Cool video, I was planning on getting a poicephalus. But I don't even know which poicephalus I should get, can you help me choose? If not that is perfectly fine. although I might reconsider and get a green cheek conure
In your situation, I would try to find some local pet stores and get a handle on playing with some poicephalus to find the right one that chooses you. I remember when I was first looking into parrots, I wanted an eclectus and was so sure of it, but after handling one, I changed my mind.
They did a survey back in 2018, and found that out of all the conures species, it was the FEMALE GCC, yes female, that spoke the most words, out of all the conure species. My GCC, she was generally quiet, but when she felt safe and relaxed, she talked up a storm. She would speak in phrases, then mix words together to make legible new phrases. She was extremely smart. It’s not just mimicking, but actual cognizant speech. She wasn’t super snuggly like other GCC, but very sweet. She wanted to be around me at all times. She learned the phrase “Are you okay?,” “Is she ok?,” and would ask this after something dramatic/bad/eventful would happen. She would then make a point to comfort me or the person/flock member that needed the reassurance. She unfortunately passed away recently. Me and my Sun are in the process of grieving. I know I will need to find my Sun Skittles, a new sister, but my Verde could never be replaced. There will never be another one like her.
My conure is super clingy. I have to spend at 4-5 hours with him per day, and my mom spends the rest of the day with him. He only goes back to his cage when he sleeps or when he wants to have alone time. I honestly don't think 1 hour is enough.
The more, absolutely the better. But for those who are having a rough day maybe, building a discipline for at least an hour is better than none. It's so sad when you see birds COMPLETELY neglected and they develop all kinds of issues.
@@Fivesaflock Yes, these little birds are more demanding than most cats and dogs since they get so emotionally attached to their owner. Especially when you only have one. They live a long time too. I just hope that whoever is planning on getting these little guys, they have plenty of time to spare. Overall, they are a great addition to your family. Me and my family love our GCC =)
You forgot to mention how much they poop! I was shocked to discover this after bringing my green cheek home. He is like a dog, marking his territory with little poops everywhere. When I first get him out of the cage, I bring him to the "poop station" where he does a very big, very watery poop. And yet, he still makes a trail of little poops everywhere. I am laughing because he doesn't like to poop in his cage. He saves it up for his out-of-cage adventures. My green cheek can out-poop any other bird in my flock.
The life span is one reason I'm drawn to birds now. I've had dogs and cats I loved who died of old age and it's been a lot. It would be nice to have a pet who can make it 20+ years
Hi, can I ask please , is the Green Cheek Conure a dusty bird, does itvhave lots of dander ? Also how often do they poop everywhere when out of their cages ? Thanks xxx
The least expensive GCC I've seen is at Petco (discount price) for $899.99! I think the prices have gone up significantly. I see them for anywhere between 900-1200 dollars.
Been enjoying your vids. I was wondering GCC new or old world? I’m looking for a new world “apartment” parrot. I should add I’ve had birds for 34 yrs. I’ve recently lost my Hahns. I’m looking for a non dusty bird due to my allergies/asthma. I did great with Gus my Hahns. Thank you for any suggestions.
I have severe allergies and have had no issues with my pineapple and cinnamon GCC. I was looking into adding a cockatiel, but learning through this channel, I don't think it will work for me due to their dander and dust.
Hi 👋, we took all this into consideration and bought a pineapple conure, ours is noisy, talks all day, but can scream when he wants attention, eats all day, but wouldn't be without him.
My Yellow sided gcc able to bird talk whatcha doing and called his own name Nico. Fast learner on target training, fly to me recall. Free fly before couple of time. Now only let it fly around the house. Been with me for 1 year plus now. I love it so much like my own baby boy🥰
Wow dude, 60 dollar cage? Can I buy one from you? I spent 400 on my green cheek and 300 on my cage. Plus my bird goes everywhere with me, I live in CA and he tolerates temps up to 95 and as low and 50 Fahrenheit
When you said GCCs are bully you weren't kidding. I just got a male GCC 4 days ago and got a female GCC yesterday. Both are 3 mo old. When the female GCC perched on my head, he literally flew out of his cage and attacked her. But after 3 hrs of supervised acclimation, they started preening each other. Now they eat together and sleep together. However, when i spend too much time on her, he would come up and chase her away 😆🤣. They are also bullying my two rosellas when they come closer to me.
You should rate an Alexandine. I have one of those.. I’d love to know a bird I could get as a companion for her. My breeder has recommended a Green Cheek Conure. I’d love a green cheek conure..

@@johnward2131 ould be hormonal stage and could pass
Everything you said is spot on. A great description of my GCC Milton. The only thing I would add is that somewhere around 2 or 3 years old, they go through a difficult adolescent period where they get nippy and aggressive for a little while. I share this because so many people will remove or give up on their conure at this time. Not realizing that this is only a phase they go through and they will go back to their sweet cuddly self if this period is handled correctly.
How do you handle the phase correctly?
I would also like to know how to handle that period correctly. My GCC is going through it now.
I will remember this when she turns 2, thanks! Is this like a bluffing stage similar to Ringnecks?
The best way to handle this phase is to give your bird lots of attention when it's being good and zero attention when it bites. You must act as though the bite didn't hurt or he will bite more. If you get bit, put the bird down and walk away. Keep the attitudeh of no attention as long as. the bird is biting. I have s bird room, so I close the door. Don't use the cage for a time out or they will see their cage negatively. The time you spend positively is the most important. Play with them, cuddle them and give it treats. As it realizes you are their friend and that you don't play when they bite, they will become a wonderful companion and lots of fun.
So that's why my pineapple conure, Mango has all of a sudden started being unusually nippy! Thank you, I needed to read this!
I LOVE my GCC. she is an absolute sweetheart and the best with kids. Even when she makes noise, she is still very quiet compared to most birds. She also talks but she still has a bird accent as I like to call it.

My Green Cheek talks a lot. Says a lot of words and phrases. I think it depends on how much time you work with them.
Totally agree with you there 🌟🌟🌟
How did you teach it to talk? I have a GCC and he is so talkative, I think he has potential to speak considering the fact that he's still very young.

My dream is to do every bird in the pet trade someday. It really helps give people a place to start with research!
Even as I'm typing this he's weaving himself through my fingers and rolling around.🤣
I will say though, since this video was released, we're all aware that costs of parrots have drastically increased from recession and an overall shortage of parrots.
Oh my god your literally Clint's reptiles, but the bird version
Won't deny there's heavy inspiration from him 😅

My green cheek is legit one of my best friends. He’s super intelligent, talks in context & is very cuddly.
Oh, mine is definitely not quiet though. He makes this noise like the world’s loudest squeaky door hinge when he wants my attention.
I thought I got a green cheek but I ended up adopting a gremlin. He is SO nippy 😂😭😭
I just might be lucky but every greencheek ive own has talked pretty well
If you get males, you definitely have increased chances of getting a talker.
That's awesome to hear! I wish her the best of luck in caring for one of the most amazing pets you can own!
Love your videos
Love that, "What up Flockers". Also love your bird reviews.
Sometimes during the hormonal season, he gets very nippy, but I learned to read his body language and left him alone if he had that "look"
He LOVES spending the day with me; sometimes he prefers hanging out somewhere else and that's fine. Best bird ever!
Also I love the Clint's Reptiles style of videos. I always wanted a channel like this, but for birds.
Dude, your videos are great! You should come back. I love my GCC. She's my best friend and is super smart! She does tricks, talks really well and actualy in context, and she's toilet trained. I work from home, so I spend a lot of time with her.
Great video! Thank you for making it and keep up the good work!
Thank you too! Appreciate the support!
Great channel so much well presented, well organized info.
Glad you think so!
He honestly deserves way more views and subs
My pineapple GCC is a female and has a vocabulary of around 40 words and repeats full sentences. My other girl talks but only says about 5 words. They are totally “pocket cuddle puppies” ❤
Cute!
How old is she if I may ask?
Thank you so much for these videos, super informative! I absolutely love birds & want to be sure I make the right decision before caring for one.
I have two of them, and they speak two languages. They do, boss me around. Super smart and sweet.
haha "pocket snuggle puppy" ... that's adorable
I saw a Conure at Petsmart… it wasn’t scared of people. It just goes up against the plastic screen and turns to the side expecting to be pet.
Petsmart has them for a VERY high price and they are in bad health due to overbreeding. Get one from a breeder! Our petsmart has one for 750 dollars, you can get one that is hand raised from a breeder for under 400.
Your videos are so informative, thank you!
Your shirt is legendary mannnnn!
Great video! This video made me choose my first bird. So thanks for that 🙂 keep up the good work!
Glad I could help! Also make sure to do your own independent research as there's only so much you can fit into a video. Also check out my video "are parrots good pets" as parrots in general aren't "beginner pets" to begin with.
@@Fivesaflock thanks! Already watched it 😁
My 16 year old GCC does amazingly talk. Her name is Chica and she says her name with an attitude lol. She says good morning chicken, good girl, starting to work on i love you and makes a kissing sound. She's so much fun and sweet....great video

@@FiveTwoSevenTHR yep, my lovebird wants you to know she's the boss no matter what
Love my GCC Paul.
I like Clint's reptiles and birds so this is absolutely perfect 👌
Great video! 😊
my conure does not stop talking LOL he knows so much words and whenever he poops he says "make a poopie"
Thank you for another great video!!
Awww Clint inspoooo. Good vid!!
I have a sun conure!
Yeah not gonna deny it. It honestly surprises me though that nobody else thought to do parrot reviews as beginners could really use them
@@Fivesaflock I agreeeeeeee! I’m loving your videos. I’m gonna film my conure soon since he’s a nut
Thank you so much! Great and highly informative!
I remember my Green Cheek Conure before he unfortunately passed away (he got killed by a dog owned by a guy my mom knows). He was so cute and sweet. I still kinda miss him.
I think the price is out of date. Per stores are selling for 1100$ each lol
Hi can i ask are these birds one of the better one's to have if you have allergies.

I would look for a local breeder who can introduce you to the breed. Pet stores hire people with no training or experience.
Unrelated comment: I dig that shirt!
Do you own a sun conure? I’d love to see a review on them.
