THAI AIRWAYS Business Class in 2024. What to expect?

  • After quite a few years, I've finally been able to fly Thai Airways again, on their Airbus A350-900 on an overnight (red-eye) flight from Bangkok to Seoul Incheon. I decided to do a little flight review, however that wasn't an easy task, as the entire flight was at night time, putting my camera equipment to its limits. I hope you like this trip report / flight review anyway:-)
    Btw, Thai calles their Business Class Royal Silk class, and if you travel from Bangkok, they have dedicated Check-in areas and security lines, which makes travelling with them a smooth experience.

    Leave the shoes on during takeoff in case of emergency and the need to evacuate the aircraft. Another fantastic review, I love your channel!

      Exactly. And since I‘ve experienced a ground collision myself (before I started my YT channel, and no harm), I‘m always quite precautious when it comes to shoes and also seatbelts.

      Thank you so much for the nice words. I’m also a fan of Thai Airways, even when not everything is perfect.

      I guess that perfection in the airline industry is not easy to find these days.
      However, I feel that Airlines such as THAI, Singapore Airlines, JAL or even Saudia constantly invest much in their products and reputation and still do their best possible to satisfy us as their guests and passengers.
      I used to work as a FA for AA (ORD based) in the 1980's and 90's and I'm so sad to see on how bad their service performance is by today.
      Living in Germany our first choice is either one of the above and AF, KL or DL when travelling to the US.
      I feel the most heartwarming and authentic service still is beeing offered by Asian Carriers like JAL or even SV when travelling to or thru Jeddah or Riyadh.

      I fully agree, and I‘m hoping for a change to the better. Also my home carrier Swiss has worsened so badly when it comes to the overall experience, it feels like flying on a LCC. So most of my trips to Asia are with Asian and ME carriers, as I get so much more for the money spent (since every flight I take is self funded). As much as I want to support my home carrier, it just feels like a rip-off. Just my opinion:-/

    Nice report 👍 THAI is my favorite airline but this year after pandemic. My last trip to BKK was on EVA Air. Not much different though in comparison. But next trip will be on THAI again. Dinner and lunch on long haul are served course by course not one tray service. Look forward to your PG flight review. Thanks and take care 😊

    • @forgotmypassport
      @forgotmypassport  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I still have to try EVA Air, they’re high on my to-fly-list. My flight to ICN was about 6 hours. You think it was not long enough for separate course servings? But I’m glad to hear that TG is not entirely shifting to one-tray service.

    • @PBS9877
      @PBS9877 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@forgotmypassport to Seoul is usually considered as intra Asia medium haul n breakfast is mostly a one tray affair. Lunch or especially dinner is different story. EVA flies to BKK from LHR, AMS or VIE. Just For your Info. Thanks again 👍

    You leave your shoes on until after takeoff because statistically, an aircraft emergency/crash occurs in the first few minutes of flight. I know because I do the same :)

    I've never managed a Thai Royal Silk flight, but I've bounced back and forth between the UK and Thailand with them many times over the last 20 years in Economy. Yes, the seats are pretty comfortable. The food is (or was) good, and in all those flights I've only had one grumpy member of the cabin crew (and he wasn't grumpy to me, just to another passenger who was a bit drunk and a nuisance).
    Thai have also earned customer loyalty on 2 occasions - once when I misread my return flight times and turned up at Chiang Mai airport 12 hours late (they had me on a flight to Bkk, and straight onto a London flight within half an hour - yes, there was a charge, but it was just £32).
    The second was when my mother-in-law suddenly died just a couple of days before I was due to return to the UK. A visit to the Mae Hong Son office to see if they could help amend my ticket resulted in not only a new ticket for 10 days later given to me in order to ensure I could stay for the whole funeral, but they even arranged for my visa to be extended (which I had forgotten about). The charge for this? None. Not a satang . . .

      Nice story, thank you for sharing. I‘ve taken about 20 or so Thai Airways flights over the last 15 years, and I always felt treated well onboard. Never had to change any flights, but it’s good to hear they are very accommodating, in case I‘d ever need to amend.

    Just wondering if you have experienced the other Star Alliance lounges at BKK? I have always chosen the SilverKris (Singapore) lounge as my go to at BKK. Apart from the occasional overcrowding I find this lounge the best for service and food options at BKK.

    • @forgotmypassport
      @forgotmypassport  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So far only Thai Airways and until recently this Turkish Airlines lounge. SilverKris i haven’t tried yet.

    Glad the catering was good / that seems to be a weak point that shows up more and more these days on a lot of carriers . It does seem less likely to happen originating in BKK with such a food centric culture .

    Thxs for the video. Do you think there is any benefit, size wise to choose a window or the central seat? Im not bothered about privacy but looking to max out my space!

    • @forgotmypassport
      @forgotmypassport  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question, and I honestly didn’t check that. Maybe I should include that in my future videos, as quite often there are empty middle/central seats. Making my flight reviews more inclusive:)

    hi! we are flying from fra to bkk with ethihad and way back with thai, boeing 700-300
    (business class)
    interesting info about the business lounge of turkish airlines in bkk... so, we should better go for this lounge and not thai airways..?
    and how about the business class lounge of ethihad in frankfurt? did you try it out yet?
    by the way, from fra to bkk we flying boeing 787...
    thnx a lot! cheers

    • @forgotmypassport
      @forgotmypassport  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, if you haven’t tried the Thai lounge in BKK yet, I‘d recommend trying this one out, to get the full Thai Business experience. If you don’t like it or it’s too full, you can still switch to the Turkish lounge. Regarding Etihad lounge, I haven‘t flown out if FRA with them, so I can’t tell.

    I used the Turkish Airlines Lounge in Bangkok in mid-August. There are only two men's toilets. These are permanently occupied and are not cleaned in between. The lounge seems worn and cramped, the selection of food is only small in the morning hours. There's just not a pleasant atmosphere there. I didn't like her at all.

    • @forgotmypassport
      @forgotmypassport  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the insight. It’s interesting how the experience and perception varies. I thought it was a very nice lounge, although I think I didn’t use the bathroom, so I wasn’t aware of its condition. I hope you like my review anyway, at least the flight part. Greetings.
