      @@mojaverc1585 I've got a Losi DB Pro and the servo saver while certainly "saving" the servo allows for a ton of play in its much smaller front tires. It's a solid chassis/platform for sure, but several pounds heavier than my Rustler VXL. That added weight doesn't help survivability when driving errors ubiquitous to this avocation occur.

    I got my first one (of the three I ordered) yesterday, and broke it three times in three batteries. Twice I ran into things *hard*, so that was my fault; but the other one - front driver's side half-shaft snapped at the spindle, just like in the video. So, yeah... I ordered extras, but that's definitely shaping up as a weak spot. Now it still drives as a 2WD (well, 3WD !), but the A-arm mount on the front passenger's side is pretty much toast... And everyone is out of stock for another couple of weeks... Oh, well. It's an awesome looking and driving beast! Love it!

    @gitbox6924 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My receiver was dead out of the box,too. Broken front axles and the front shocks keep coming apart. I'm assuming that the shock problem could be the lack of droop screws?? I'm not hard on mine either. :(

    @jkitto2008 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have ran mine carefully, run it on 4S only. Many speed runs & over many obstacles ,dirt & grass. Never jumped any thing significant and I think I'll keep it that way.
    ( never any issues with mine )
    Your buggy took some really hard landings, next time you may want to adjust those shocks for softer landings.

  • @douglaselliott8298
    @douglaselliott8298 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I'm really tempted with the Lasernut, but already having a Losi DB Pro as well as a RR10 Bomber I'm saving my money for a Henry Big Boy Model X in .44 Magnum. I personally find 'jumping' my DB Pro, as well as Rustler VXL within limits of 'scale', saves me a lot on parts and repair. A 1/10 scale RC truck/buggy flying 6ft in the air and landing with no landing ramp is respective to launching a full-sized truck/buggy 60ft up and landing similarly. Neither the vehicle nor the driver would have much chance of surviving such an impact. So as much as I can empathize with your disappointment over the broken axle I can't NOT say that you fully asked for it.

      @@joeb4957 I LOVE my TRX4. I have run it daily for over a year with minimal need for maintenance/repair. Upgrades, however, are ridiculously priced($80 for a light kit; they can kiss my ass) My Rustler VXL although being very cleverly designed for easy and affordable maintenance is again victim to some stupidly priced "upgrades" that would otherwise cure certain redundant maintenance/repar problems. They're ALL greedy f*cks however. I have 3 Horizon products requiring two different ESC/battery plugs between them. F*ck electrical resistance concerns caused by 'adaptors'. All my non-Traxxas RCs run Traxxas batteries with $8.00 battery/ESC plug adaptors from Amazon/eBay.

    Great review! I ordered one yesterday (the black one). I was too excited to wait for the delivery time of the blue one LOL.
    I wanted to point out that in the manual, it says the car is setup from the factory for 4s batteries using a 12T pinion gear. If you want to run 3s you must change the pinion gear to the 14T which is included. It also says that if you run a 4s with the 14T gear it will damage the ESC and Motor.

      The rock rey driveline is awful lol. Plastic axles twist like nothin and the steel pins in the CV joints are poorly secured I've had several fail. Afrolucha makes cnc aluminum front axle sliders which are amazing though.
      The diff gears and ring pinion are really strong in the rock rey. It's just the axles are garbage. Beautiful looking truck though that handles pretty good, not a good basher though.

    • @jeremybaity7002
      @jeremybaity7002 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelregan427 Thanks for that info on the upgrades. I must have got the good set of axles cause I still use my original front and nothing wrong with rear I only changed to match other upgrades.
      When I first got it years ago I thought that would be the first thing to go in my drive line. For me the 2mm screws holding the ring gear to the diff cup has been my weak point. Now if they strip I swap out for the exotek diff cups that uses 2.5mm screws. What a difference that 0.5mm of screw does :)
      Again much thanks for that recommendation.

Big Heavy Tires and SCT parts not a good idea thinking Losi kinda needs to be revamping some items like the Front Arms, Steering Hub's and most all the exposed suspension because of no cover (body) protection, shock tower will most likely get bent too...JS.

    Nice man, you ever have a tenacity based truck?
    I have the db pro, my servo saver was ridiculously loose from factory. Exotek makes a damn good servo bellcrank system for this truck. I run a leopard 3670 2400 kv motor on 4s with a 17t pinion, runs pretty fast. Tekno makes a replacement front axle for this truck, I snapped mine hitting a bench at 40 mph. Your truck should have survived those jumps better I'm surprised that axle broke. I run belted badlands and abuse the truck, never another axle problem.
    The tenacity trucks are unbelievably tough, I have run 30k, 50k, and 100k in the center diff. 30k you'll still get wheelies but it diffs out nicely after a second or two. 100k and it'll wheelie at almost any speed. I hope tbone releases a full skidplate for this truck to help it slide, the chassis is going to "stick," to rocks IMO.

    I have a Losi Rock Rey with a Vaterra center diff locker and 500K front diff oil. It has a constant squeak squeak squeak as it's driving. The squeak speeds up and slows down with the motor speed. I have completely pulled it back apart and cleaned out everything and scraped the gears clean but the squeak sound remains. It does not change with load. I tried the motor alone and it is not from that. I also tried hand spinning as much as possible while apart and was unable to replicate by hand. Not spinning fast enough I assume. Any ideas or people I could ask. Have checked some forums but most are a different noise then mine.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you've oiled the driveshafts right? You said it speeds up and slows down with motor speed, you mean it squeaks fast at motor rpm or slower but not tire rpm?

    • @thisandthat454
      @thisandthat454 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ExocagedRC Shafts are all oiled, oiled the gears, unsure if you need to or not but did anyways. I did notice the solid shaft from the center to the front diff is bent a bit. Not alot but it wobbles when you watch it. It also has a slight ticking noise at the same turning speed. So a tick and squeak matching. Both noises are driveline turning speed, engine is irrelevant. Easier to hear when driving then inspecting. I left the body off this time so I could try to locate the sound but it is hard. I tried running the motor with the bottom cover off so I could watch the gears and I don't think the sound is coming from in the center diff. Pretty sure its somewhere from the center diff up into the front diff.

    • @thisandthat454
      @thisandthat454 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should also state the problem is most likely caused by me. The sound popped up immediately after I had disassembled it to clean and install the Vaterra locker in the center diff and fill the front diff with thicker fluid to give it better Crawling ability. The open diffs were terrible for going over trees or rocks because it would always just spin 1 wheel that wasn't on the ground. I fully re disassembled it again and I cannot find any evident wearing with probably 1.5 hrs of run time with the noise.
