Having numerous forms of connectivity which finally include 8k, av receivers are still the piece of equipment that pieces in all together in your home. But what happens if you don’t have the space for it? That’s where the NR1711 comes in with all of the great features an AV receiver should half at almost half the size. Let's dive in with our Digital Concierge Luke.

    Would you recomend a "non slim" option having this specs? (price, 2.1 hdmi) Great video!

    My biggest problem with this receiver is it only has 1 port that can do 4k 120fps with VRR ALLM and QFT
    I will be getting both PS5 and Xbox Series X... So I need more than 1 port that can support 4k at 120fps.
    I have a QLED which only supports 1 port at 4k 120fps
    The only Receiver that gives you more than 1 HDMI 2.1 port is Yamahas RX-V6A
    That says in a future update, It doesn't even support any HDMI 2.1 out of the box? So who even knows if they will even give it to us?
    As these companies promise and never deliver all the time...
    Great review by the way!

      Unfortunately this is the slow burn reality of HDMI 2.1 adoption. It frustrates us here as well. I certainly hope that will change soon. It is likely to on high end separate preamp/processors next year, hard to say about entry to mid grade receivers though. I also hope to see some decent HDMI 2.1 switches come out for this exact reason.

      Well said see whats the use of buying this product when most TV are going 4K 120 fps with VRR and yet AV 's are not compatible with 2.1 hdmi set up's even most web pages for products say with firmware update yet paying over 2K for a product which does not support the various TV's in 4K/8K yet, linking and syncing together with the same systems firmware etc etc? Even Yamaha's RX-V6A says with firmware update ?

      I have no doubt that it will serve you well.

  • @7071t6
    @7071t6 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Now if you are wondering, the NR1711 has no problem whatsoever if you are watching movies or playing games at 4K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz YCbCr 4:2:2 signals (32Gbps) or anything below that so in most cases you are going to be absolutely fine. This means that the PS5 will work without any problems. In the rare case where the receiver accepts a 4K/120Hz RGB signal (8-bit, 10-bit, 12-bit), like from the Xbox Series X for example, this is when this problem will appear and the only current workaround is to connect your source device directly to your TV and from the eARC connection to the receiver.
    To be honest this is a problem that should not happen in the first place and shows that somewhere there has been a major miscommunication between manufacturers but you should keep in mind that this will probably not affect you as much as you may think of. Right now this problem seems to affect all new AV receivers in 2020 including Denon, Marantz and Yamaha and we are still waiting for news about how they decide to handle this situation.

      Great point, couldn't have said it better myself. They rushed the HDMI 2.1 silicon and it got them up the creek. Now they did release an adapter box to fix some signal issues that you can get by reaching out to them directly, it is a free fix. www.denon.com/en-us/hdmiadapter

    The Marantz was always something on my radar but never pulled the trigger on them but now I'm thinking I should...after watching this video. I currently have a 5 year old Pioneer Elite SC-LX501 and I'm struggling with sound quality and it's driving me nuts...not sure if it's me or what....but I'm not happy with quality and low levels, dialogue, etc. I even think the phasing is off which not adjustable on this. Not sure if age has something to do with it. I'm assuming the Marantz NR1711 would be a huge step us. This is a struggle for most people I think especially because different streaming platforms produce different output qualities.

    Not been negative, but for australian clients the VVR/4K120 and also 4K tv streaming is very very limited full stop, we only have 3 or 4 channels via normal tv which is in HD and its only 1080, even via netflix some do have HD and the TV ruku telstra set top box allows some 4K streaming and as far as TV 4K120 fps with VRR, none of the Marantz products support the X box x and ps5 systems yet, ( it says it on the spec's) have to wait for update via Marantz, so again do your research please if in australia, its ok for europe and the USA, as they have it at least a year or two before the rest of the world and the same with japan, they have everything updated before anyone else in the world, its like the TV/blue rays, the AV systems have not caught up with the TV tech yet etc. :) Same with Yamaha and denon, look it up, it state via firmware update for VVR 4K120fps etc. :)

    Needs more than one full HDMI 2.1 input. And saying that TVs or sources wont need it is just WRONG. The PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as PCs, will ALL take advantage of 4k at 120fps (same bandwidth needed as 8k), and there are several name brand TVs from Sony, LG, Samsung, Vizio and others that support the full standard as well. So far, Yamaha is the ONLY AVR company making a unit with 3 full HDMI 2.1 inputs.
