This works with the Boss GT-1000Core, too. Plus you can then use the phone app to edit presets on it via Bluetooth.

Very cool stuff! Be careful with the wireless stuff. I know it sleek and cool, but hardwired is much more stable and reliable I encourage people to actually turn off Bluetooth and WiFi on their Ableton computer. Even if they are on a hidden network. It has been known to cause issues. Just some thoughts, but its cool to see you getting into automation! Going hardwired would require a midi router like the iConnectivity mioXM or mioXL which would also make set up weekly even easier. As long as everything is turned on the mio can make that connection for you with OS and iOS devices as well as just sending out good old DIN MIDI. the wireless stuff is cool I program it that way, but run it hardwired.

WIDI is actually ridiculously solid. I don't think I've ever heard a bad report about it in their users group (which is huge).

@@simonglover8914 it’s not so much WIDI it’s Bluetooth itself and other people and devices paring with it accidentally. I have run into this on occasion as well have had other playback techs on the road report the same thing. As a consultant working on a closed MIDI network that is hardwired is just best practice. I do no doubt that WIDI is good and will continue to improve. For me, I am coming from a different perspective. If clients want to try outside that alternative that’s fine. I also deal a lot with redundant set ups and WIDI to my knowledge can’t accommodate that.
Again not being critical it and if it works for you great. My saying with clients use it until it lets you down and then we can look at other options.

@@robsharp2941 thanks for taking the time to comment. It is quite simple to create fixed pairs and groups as shown in this video. This way you configure your Bluetooth MIDI setup to connect exactly - and only - with the devices you require. Besides this, an iOS device can only connect - after initial pairing. This means your WIDI device has to be paired first via a manual process, before it can auto-connect. Above two points make it unlikely WIDI devices randomly connect to other people’s devices. Maybe you are in a position to try WIDI one day, it would be very interesting to hear your real life experience. Hope this helps 🙏
