    Thanxxx! Useful tip! No “crazy gain”, but useful bass sound!

    Great idea. I’m not very well educated on amplifiers so you including the settings really helped. Thank you!
    P.S. any tips for a Bass VI?

    the "Whowatt 100" model makes a pretty great bass amp too.

    Great idea using these 👍🏽 especially the Bassman! I built a beautiful acoustic bass preset using the Tube Mic Preamp and an acoustic guitar IR. I use it all the time with my band for acoustic sets, perfect.

    Great video man! I have a used Helix Floor on the way to replace my janky bass pedalboard and this was very informative.
    If I were to give you one piece of advice as a professional video editor, it would be to set your levels a little more evenly in post. Your bass signal was significantly louder than your voice and I found myself having to constantly adjust my volume.

    Sorry, late to the party
    Do you have a Floor or the LT? just starting out with modelling and I'm trying to decide between the two. I will be going direct live with IEM's. Replacing about 6 pedals. Thanks!

      @TylerSpicer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the floor, and the stomp! Both the LT and floor will do the job you’re looking for, it’s just a case of your preferred workflow and size! T

      @@TylerSpicer I just bought the floor model. Will be here Friday. Thanks.

    Do you set LPF or HPF in your global settings, or do you do all tweaking in the chains you set up?

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have hpf above 30hz in global, and no lpf. T

    Any notion of how this translates on the hx stomp? I’m fresh into it and the general learning curve is a thing I’m struggling with.

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      TerriblePeril absolutely. It’s totally do-able but the controls are a little confusing at first - I struggled coming from the Floor first. Is there one part in particular you’re struggling with? I’ll make a video this week (or maybe even tomorrow?) if you can help me guide it so it covers your issue! T

    • @Terrible_Peril
      @Terrible_Peril 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tyler Spicer - TJS Bass well, I’m trying to wrap my head around the blocks system still (I’m VERY fresh with the hx stomp and haven’t used any similar line6 products) I snagged some presets from dr tonelab and Erik Arkö and slowly pulling them apart has been helping me see how things tick but like... the amp, amp/cab blocks and all that just does my aging brain in. Worse yet, I don’t have a computer at home to click around for the edits, I’m primarily stuck with the controls on the pedal itself which is... trying my patience.

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      TerriblePeril I will do a video on this for you, and hopefully it will help a few others out too! T

    • @Terrible_Peril
      @Terrible_Peril 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you much, sir. You’ve gained a subscriber. On the plus side of the current situation with world health, there’s now a desktop in my house! So I have access to the edit software (which really seems to be the only proper way to tweak the hx stomp)!

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TerriblePeril thank you for supporting the channel! I’ll probably do two videos. One will run through the differences between the different blocks of amp, amp/cab, preamp and cabs and the second I’ll cover getting around the HX stomp. Let me know if that sounds like it would help/cover what you’re after? I’ll probably get a chance to do it tomorrow! T

    You should try using a gain block set to-10 to -15 db right in front of the amp.

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matthew Muklewicz that would work toon but I’d rather not take up a whole block for that. T

    A bit out of topic but how did you manage to change the color scheme for the UI? I haven't seen this anywhere else but here. Cheers!

    So would you feel the Effects is a good middle ground between the LT/Floor and the Stomp?

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Effects is really a different product. The lack of amp sims really makes it a effects only, and I find it’s comparatively difficult to navigate. There are a few features missing as a result, things that I think are really helpful to have and make the Helix versatile. If you’re just replacing a pedalboard it can do the job, but I’d rather have the stomp and some additional foot-switches or a small midi-switching system. T

    • @RyanWright
      @RyanWright 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      nope. Only has effects... Has no amps or cabs built in.
      Now, for playing bass? You could maybe get away with just the HX effects b/c it does have the "Sansamp" pedal built in

    How would go about creating a patch for a piezo-equipped acoustic bass such as my Fender Kingman?

    • @untitleduser666
      @untitleduser666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eq is your friend! Try using the parametric eq and turn up the mids with a narrow width. Sweep for a frequency that sounds awful and quacky, then cut that frequency. Does wonders for piezo pickups

  • @JumboBass

    No matter how good the simulation is I cannot get used to this compressed, digital sound. That's why I don't like D-class amps as well. They all sound artificial to me. I prefer either using analong preamp with DI or my big rig SVT-3 Pro with SVT-810E. I had a 300 wats all tube head as well but it weight 40KG so I sold it. The SVT-3 is very good for any style to my ears.

    What do you play through? I'm using the line 6 powercab and it doesn't feel powerful enough.

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1 or 2 Yamaha DXR15s. I love them in the monitor position with no DSP, so just set flat. Plenty of bass response and a really good bass feel. The Powercab really didn’t work for me whenever I’ve tried them - fine for guitar but no way do they produce enough quality low end for bass!

      it's a guitar setup. You need an FRFR at minimum.

    your videos are great but that background music is really annoying

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      anorak22 noted! I think it needs to be there at the start, but I can just have it go round once, so it’ll only be for 30secs. T
