Already using quality Lindy 20m USB 2.0 Active cables to control telescope mount and camera but intend employing USB over Ethetnet to increase the distance, allowing siting the laptop in the living room rather than kitchen. Star Tech supply a 4-port USB over Ethernet kit with the remote hub mains powered and option to also mains power at the pc end if required.
Was searching exactly this yesterday and came across this : www.virtualhere.com/home Only downside is you have to buy a license + extra hardware and do some setup.
usb2 limited to 5 meters ? you cant just say that like that, it depends on the cable used, and it depends on what type of usage too, and other things .. -i've made an usb2 extention cable of 12 meter to make a wifi hotspot and it worked very well (i used thin cables) but sure to go over longer distance you'd certainly need to use different methods ..
1. 5m maximum length while maintaining quality od USB 2 standard? 2. Attention, USB also serves to power the perfume device. The longer the cable = the greater the resistance of the wires = the greater the voltage drop on the cable = the less the power for the peripheral device. 3. What is the maximum speed? 4. No problem can only seem. The signal quality may be low but may be enough for your operation.
@@TheOgi22 ..in extension cables or RJ45 method u can use low power device such as data dongles and USB's Only the DC power is highly reduced due to long distance For example : I use my 4G dongle on Rj45 cat5e cable of 15M length I get full speed of data but my PC. was unable to charge it
I was hoping to see how to do it. Otherweise a good video.
