    One of my favorite thing when I visited Stockholm was just walking around the city, in residential areas like Ostermalm and Sodermalm, they have beautiful houses, the streets are so clean and beautifully quiet, and this is heaven when you are from a chaotic city like Rome. Moreover, the most majestic thing was the subway, in particular TCentralen and Kungstradgarden stations were stunning.

      Indeed, I went last weekend from London, Stockholm was covered in snow so even the cars were not making any noise, such a big difference, it almost feels weird to not hear the noise.

    Stockholm is my most favourite city in the entire world❤️ Definitely agree on Gamla Stan, Vasa Museet, Skansen and many other places you named. I have one specific tip for a café in Gamla Stan which is called "Under Kastanjen". You should definitely check that out☺️
    And I agree with you on getting out into nature. From Stockholm, you can take ferries to Vaxholm or Sandhamn for example, which are both beautiful islands. But pretty much every other part of Sweden is worth a visit. I particularly love Småland, a part in central southern Sweden where Astrid Lindgren's books take place, the West coast, Öland or Lappland. Nothing is better than a Swedish summer...😊❤️

      +Linus Wärn Quite good except the way he puts the emphasis on the last syllable in the word "nordiska" Also he does not know about the "å" letter, which few non-scandinavians do.

      But we do put the emphasis on the last syllable in thousands of words and names (such as Nobel), so it's not very easy for a foreigner to know exactly where this pattern is applicable.

    The Historic Museum is great, it covers Swedish history from the inland ice sheet withdrew up to but not including Gustav Vasa forming modern Sweden.
    They have lot's of things about vikings and medieval history.
    If you have been to Djurgården visited Skansen or the Vasa museum just continue in the direction of the bridge over the small canal when you leave Djurgården and walk up Narvavägen (Narva Road) and the museum is on the left halfway up the hill.

    The Vasa Museum and Skansen (and a walk through Gamla stan/Old town) would probably be my top picks. Strangely, I've missed several of the sights on your list despite having lived close to Stockholm my whole life. Some things are simply due to different interests - I'm more interested in science and culture than photography or art, so I tend to gravitate towards the museum of natural history/of ethnography instead of your suggestions - but some sights are just weird to never having visited. Perhaps I should go on a tour of the royal castle some day. I've been there, but only as part of the guard and not as a visitor.
    Anyway, great video. I really like your videos wherever you go, but it's even more fun to see you visit the place were I live. :)

    When it comes to eating in Old town. You should visit either "Den gyldene freden", or "Tegelbacken". Or the Viking gourmet restaurant "Aifur". The atmosphere is very special, it´s like eating at a Viking feast when you go there, but the food is very good. But you have to book in advance to get a table.

    When my sister came to visit from the countryside, she bought a 24 hour SL ticket, that means that you can go around on subway cars, commuter trains and buses as much as you like for 24 hours. There is also 72 hour and 7 day tickets, as well as 30 day (month) cards. All tickets are electronic and are purchased at vending machines in stores and at larger stations (Most subway and commuter train stations have them).
    Note that SL tickets are not applicable on SJ (railroad) and you cannot buy tickets once you have boarded a train, they stopped selling them onboard a few years ago. And SL tickets are only applicable in the Stockholm county.
    If you are in a group and can't decide what to eat, go to Hötorgshallen, it's a large food court with everything from Cajun BBQ, to Chinese food, to Indian curries to Pizza...and more. Can be a bit loud during lunch hours though. Try the Kebab pizza.
    There are some shopping malls outside the city centre, i would recommend Kista (Take the Subway) and Mall of Scandinavia in Solna (Take the Commuter train), since they are BIG and have a wide variety of stores. There are more malls, but not as varied.
    Please read up on Allemansrätten before you go out into nature, there are freedoms in nature, but also responsibilities. And please do not blast music when out in the nature.
    If you are an American, do not go around and tell that you voted for Trump or Bush unless you want to be ignored by 99% of the population - or possibly get punched in the face.

      @åpoi What does this even mean? All cultures were virtually indistinguishable at that time since it was before the languages began to really diverge. The Swedish vikings just happend to go in the opposite direction of the Norwegian / Danish ones (generally speaking of course, viking raids were not centrally organized by some monarchy and so there were Swedish vikings 'vikinging' to the west and vice versa). Most 'Swedish' vikings went to Russia and the lands over there. Fun fact, the name Russia comes from the word 'Rus' which referred to the Scandinavian (mostly from Sweden) traders etc living in what is now modern day Russia.
      Also, the 'largest' viking raid ever was carried out by the semi-mythical king of Sweden, Bjön Ironside. You could be right in the sense that the concept of Swedes did not really exist at the time, since all scandinavian cultures were basically the same, hence why they are called norse, but then the Norwegians and Danes were also not vikings. What is true and not really debatable is that people living in modern day Sweden, Norway and Denmark were what we now refer to as vikings equally.

    Skansen outdoor museum is my favorite thing here (yeah I’m a stockholmer) it is the most romantic park you can go for a walk in.
    Don’t waste time or money on the Nobel museum. If you’re interested in the Nobel prizes over time, go online and read the wikipedia sections on them. Save you time and get you better content.
    If you go to fancy restaurants, or midprice ones, don’t miss the bread! Seriously, we’ve had a baking revolution in the 2000s. I thank the hipsters, probably. Also lot of good microbrewery beer around.
    If in summer and the weather is nice: Definitely do picnic in whatever park is closest. We do it all the time. Wolter said we have a state monopoly selling wine and liquer, right? But he didn’t say that it is the best stocked, best priced and most service minded wine warehouse in the world. Any one of the outlets. Systembolaget. Check it out.
    I agree that traditional swedish cooking isn’t all that, but If you wanna be a completionist and try it, there are three places: Tennstopet, Kvarnen or Pelikan, the last one being my personal choice.
    I disagree with Wolter on the whole dresscode thing. There’s a very limited area around ”Stureplan” where anybody is snobbish about that, don’t sweat it.
    Finally, If you’re a strong Trump or Brexit supporter, you might want to be discreet about it until you know and trust the people you’re with; those are _very_ unpopular positions for a lot of swedes. You might not get into fistfights about it, but you will be judged.

    you should tip about the Stockholm card. You can travel and get into museums for free, I don't think it's expensive if you want to visit many museums and don't want to walk all the way

    • @knalletorget
      @knalletorget 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Erica Erixon The Stockholm Card is only valid to 31th dec 2015. Then it´s gone... they don't sell it anymore. Instead there is a card called mystockholm , same thing but no public transport. =/

    • @Pschokid
      @Pschokid 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh :( that's stupid. Turist probably loves those card

    • @knalletorget
      @knalletorget 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They did.. But the Public Transportation company wanted a huge increase in kickback for each sold card, so they where forced to shut down. Hope it won't stop you from visiting, Stockholm is a great city to visit, aswell as rest of Sweden.

      +whutzat Yes, it´s true. Actually....We are so good at keeping things clean and recycle, so we have to IMPORT garbage from UK and Norway to burn to make electricity/heat. 0_o

    • @Ichinin
      @Ichinin 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I had a friend over from Japan who think Sweden an extremely clean country and she said that she was surprised to see how clean it was. Myself i think Sweden is tidy, but there are some areas that are not so clean, mostly the suburbs in some towns. There aren't exactly piles of trash laying around, but there is some here and there.
      I've seen worse in Amsterdam (was there in 2007/2013), Berlin (2015) and London (2010/2011/2013), the towns in the countryside were cleaner.
      Barcelona (2007) on the other hand is on par with Sweden, they got recycling bins and everything. Prague (2014) was also quite clean, even Beijing (2009) was cleaner than some European cities - except for the air.

    Just to you americans (mainly US and Canadians I suppose) most of Swedes which came to america (before 1809) was forced Finnish people living in modern day Sweden and from modern day Finland. So sorry mates :-D you know one of oldest sauna(bastu) which was recorded in US was build in finnish style :-P just bringing facts. Though Stockholm is much op than Helsinki; less cold in climate and people, more places to visit and more that "you might know somehow" culture.
