Hey Stephanie. Little piggy wanted some food 😂. Hubby is also shocked when I tell him how much we spend in groceries 😂. Weird how that works. Great video
Speaking of resaursnt scraps .... Coffee grounds are an excellent compost material right from the coffee pot. They can be used for top dressing acid loving plants and trees without fear of rodents, turned into the dirt for which the worms will love you, or added to a compost pile as they have the nitrogen of green material, the properties of brown material, and absorb much need moisture in composting. For a while there we had a place we frequented that would dump thier used coffee grounds, filter and all, into a 5 gallon bucket for us. We had a clean 5 gallon bucket with lid that we would bring in to exchange for the bucket with spent grounds. The 5 gallon bucket even passed a surprise health inspection as long as it was lidded and removed once an 8 hour shift or the end of the day just as if it were a waste basket or garbage bin. We grew to have 3 or 4 buckets at the place and 3 or 4 buckets in rotation so we didnt need to stop by every day; it was right on the way but still stopping every day became worth scrounging up more free buckets. Then other customers got in on it and it became a well known first come, first served bucket exchange system.
Yes, Bryan told me the same about coffer grounds bc I have a cup everyday. We don't have a compost pile but maybe in the spring if we decide to plant anything we can start saving the grounds to help the soil. At this time, I don't plan on growing anything. It's a lot of time and money and things don't pan out. We still have sweet potatoes in the ground we need to go check on lol.
@budgetfor5withstephanie Currently, the push is for people to grow what they like. And what people like may not be the things that grow well in thier area, grow well in the soil they have, grow well in the type of sunlight they have, etc... For cost cutting, consider growing what grows well in your area to eat fresh and off-set grocery bills. Then if there's enough to preserve in some manner. Because of what I perceive to be your extreme heat, intense sun, and the months younhave these consider 2 things: 1) changing your planting times to meet your weather amd pest conditions 2) considering shade cloth of some type. For example, i think a lot of people in Florida begin thier tomato seeds in December-January, put them out in the garden in February-March, and are harvesting in April-June. By late June to July they are done with tomatoes season. Contrast that with age old adage that we don't even think of putting tomatoes out until Memorial Day and still hope for red tomatoes come August through September.
@budgetfor5withstephanie What do you do with your summer lawn clippings? Either which way, see if Bryan can build you a "two spot" compost bin out of free, wood pallets in the next month or two. Two spots are nice because when one side fills up you can "turn" that side into the other side. This consists of moving the top contents of the filled side on top,of what sits on the other side; despite how filled that other side is or is not. Ultimately, the fresh or newer contents of the side you're emptying end up in the middkemor at the bottom of the new side. The,oldest contents end up on the top of of the new side. Ideally you will have some compost at the bottom of the oldmside that you can use in vegetable or ornamental beds. If not, you will after a few turnings. When the oldest turnings from a previous pile end up on top, ofmthe new pile, they and al,,thier composting goodness will filter down into the pile with gravity, the rain, and any watering you do of the pile. This will speed up the composting process in the new(er) pile.
That is definitely the struggle. The things we want to grow don't grow well without supplementing the soil and the sun is so intense. Def need to move the garden to a place that gets afternoon shade. The only thing we've successfully grown is black eyes peas.
Yay for Walmart! Wow huge increase for one month on chicken feed! I feel you on the gas prices. My procrastination on getting gas cost me even more than normal…sigh..
Absolutely not I'm just saying that's what they said LOL Next year there will be all of these reports about how the numbers were skewed so much and the amount of jobs that were added were inaccurate and inflation was hotter than they said I'm just waiting on it to all fall down
A $3 increase is about an 18% feed price increase [($3/$16.50)×100]; call it a 20% increase for easier conceptualization and any math calculations. Do talk with Byran about how it might be possible to bring home resaurant scraps without putting his job at jepordary and also putting him at risk for workplace ostriorization. If it seems possible, then figure out how to do it in a manner that wont impact the business and also makes it easier once the scraps get home. Protiens, veggies, and fruits will provide better nutrition than lettuce, bread, and paper napkins. I would make a goal of supplementing at a 10% to 20% rate with 20% offsetting the increased chicken feed cost.
I know you're time stressed but, many people make a separate video when showing thier planner. You might even want to wait until December because the ad revenue is greater which is why there is VlogMas.
@@budgetfor5withstephanie Again because you've got to be time stressed, consider honestly going through your planner before videoing. If the planner has the monthly calendar set up, maybe fill out a couple of month's worth between now and videoing off camera in little snatches of time here and there. Likewise, if it has a debt listing(s) pre-filling at least some of that information out. You handle the cover-up sheet very well during videoing. - Heavens, if youve got storage you could even video an unboxing and reveal now, take your time editing it, and upload any time in early December beginning Dec 1st.
Great job Stephanie…your consistency is so inspiring!!!
