Ever since we learned about Astro's Playroom being a free platformer for PS5 that showcases the DualSense features and PlayStation history, I was practically giddy with excitement. This was a game practically made for me, so here's my entire Platinum Trophy run. With all the smiles, reactions, and PlayStation goodness. This is unironically the most fun game on PS5 right now, it's so unbelievably enjoyable. And on top of that, it's a beautifully made nostalgia trip too; I loved the PS3 parts so much.

Sony needs to make a "Wreck it Ralph" styled, AAA Astro game where he's traveling through the PlayStation Network or something. This character could easily become Sony's Mario.

Not gonna lie I teared up at PS1, remembering setting the original up with my dad and playing Battle Arena Toshinden on Christmas.
The PS1 boot up and all the CRTs brought a tear to my eye also man.
I loved em all. But yeah the PS1 startup one also brought me a lot of nostalgia.

Astro’s Playroom is one of the most enjoyable games I have played ever. My children loved it, I loved it. My first PS5 Platinum trophy and I will never forget it. Such nostalgia. I would happily have bought this game. I really hope we get a full game in the future. Congratulations to Sony and the team that bought us Astro’s Playroom!
Astro’s has been my favorite game so far on PS5. All the PlayStation artifacts and dualsense use made me feel like a kid in a candy store lmao

also a little personal feedback regaring this video and future live comms, I think it would be better if you had better audio balance for your voice and game audio. It was 90% no sound except for when you were talking. I personally prefer to have audiable game audio. just some feedback :)

The trophy “it’s all in the mind” is a reference to Parappa the Rapper, the first song of that game says “kick, punch, it’s all in the mind...” and you get the trophy by punching the enemies.

This is THE doorway to the PS5. It's an appetizer, that gives you the flashback scene from Ratatouille. I refuse to play any other PS5 game until I fully clear Astro, I'm still so excited.

This is such an incredible game. It made me really emotional with nostalgia and happy feelings. What an amazing intro to the new gen. I hope this really catch up because I would love more Astro bot! The best mascot of PlayStaion.
Sony needs to go hard and all in the next few years with marketing Astro Bot as their mascot! Make him the Nintendo "Mario" equivalent, but for Sony!

This whole experience means so much to me. I spent some of the best years of my life at SCEA in San Mateo working on games like Up Your Arsenal, SOCOM FTB, Siren, and Syphon Filter Dark Mirror. I worked on PS2, 3, PSP and Vita. So satisfying seeing it until the end. PSPGo!

This game was PS5 coming into your home and giving you a huge hug. I had a huge nostalgia rush playing it. What a celebration of a company that has given me so much happiness over the last quarter century.
This is the single most delightful video game I've ever had the experience of playing. Pure, simple joy. Even the parts I wasn't crazy about (the monkey and spring suits/modes) were still fun and neat. Everything was just so cute and happy and joyful, I couldn't keep a smile off my face. The trip down memory lane and the loving tributes to playstation classics was a fantastic nostalgia trip - when I reached the end of the PS2 area, it felt for a moment like I was my 10 year old self getting ready to boot up some champions of norrath or kingdom hearts 2.
12/10 game. I want to see more of Team Asobi, and more of Astro.

Never has a game been so lovingly crafted. It truly is a joy. I especially love that the PS Labo becomes a Sony museum as you play.
This is the best tech demo game I’ve ever played on a system. The music was great. The game mechanics are amazing. At no time does the game feel gimmicky or boring. They find news ways to keep you engaged. And you actually strive to try and find all of the artifacts to fill up the PlayStation labo. I platinumed the game already and I wish I could go back and redo it all over again. I hope one day they’ll make a stand-alone game with Astro as the main character. I would pay money for a platformer like this that takes a while to beat.
It’s early now but this will be the game I look back to in relation to the ps5, it’s so special and brings back so many memories

I absolutely loved Astro's Playroom. I finally stopped putting it off after I put in plenty of hours into Demon's Souls and Miles Morales, but OMG. The nods to all the characters and Playstation hardware across the generations complete with all the sounds that come with them brought back so many memories. Even my kids, that are in their late teens and early 20's were shocked by how many great times and moments that they remembered surrounding the Playstation brand. My daughter even teared up a little bit. Super nostalgic and really well done all the way around.
This is the most fun I've had watching a reaction video. As much as I wanted to wait to experience Astro's Playroom as a big Playstation fan myself, I couldn't resist.

The Last Guardian reference you pointed out is actually from Astro's Robot Rescue Mission. Another amazing game from Team Asobi that is just as phenomenal. The boss fights are fantastic and that bird was one of the bosses. Great vid!
I think they used that boss character as a stand in for Last Guardian though. Like how they used the giant robot from Rescue Mission but gave him a big sword as a reference to Shadow of the Colossus.

Your reactions in this are the exact same as I was doing playing it. It's a brilliant homage to PlayStation's history and I think it deserves much more recognition than just a "demo to show off the Dualsense" that many other channels are showcasing it as. It's a fully fledged game of its own and should be recognised as such.

Came back to this video after the new Astro Bot trailer. Yep, I'm hyped.
I worked as a QA tester at Sony back in 2008, and it was wild to see some of the references. I worked on MAG, Pain, Fat Princess, and MLB 10: The Show (PS2). I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw not one, but two references to Pain in Astro’s Playroom.
I remember when testing Pain, there was one task to test if the platinum trophy popped properly, and one of the trophies was to get some ridiculous high score in a single throw. I still don’t know if anyone took on that task.
This game was such a blast from the past and a genuine love letter to PlayStation fans. I absolutely loved every second of it. First PS5 platinum for me, too, Ryan. Thanks for recording your playthrough!

I'm glad you made this video, because it captures all those moment that longtime PS fans get when playing this. This game was and is the perfect way to memorialize the entire history of Playstation, while welcoming you to the future of the brand, whether you're a longtimer or a newcomer. I can honestly say no game has hit the same way this one did with pure joy and smiles from start to finish. I hope we get a true full game some time.

Honestly this experience in and of itself made upgrading worth it. Not only has it made me rediscover my love for 3-D platformers, but it made me realize just how much of my affinity for gaming I owe to playstation.

Team Asobi/Japan Studios nearly made me have a PlayStation heart attack/orgasm with this game lol this is just an awesome experience as a PlayStation fan , I can't believe you can actually interact with the PlayStation history as well like when you hit the PSP and it turned on that was awesome . This game just makes me smile so much too while watching this video and looking at my huge PS1 2 3 and 4 collection man time went by so much . PS5 I can't wait for you any longer. I love this video and I love this game for exactly the same reason. They taught me to slow down and enjoy the subtle details. I watched this video before and it talked about all the little things they added. So I decided to do the same for myself. And for the first time I realized it wasn’t about how the story was or the guns shoot, it was about the things that you didn’t realize mattered. I’ve enjoyed games more since then.

Yeah, I just platinumed this on my new PS5, god the nostalgia was INCREDIBLE, it's so much fun just enjoying everything about it, I got tons of the miscellaneous trophies just by playing it how I would any game, like jumping on a fountain just to see if it lifts you, diving off a diving board for the hell of it, just so much stuff, and oh man seeing all those old consoles was just a trip to my childhood.
