I'm 75 years old and was raised by people that went through the Depression. My father hobo'ed around th whole country including Alaska from when he was 13 years old. When he was 21 he had to go fight WW2 in Europe. I'll never forget the stories they told me...

I was a child during the great depression. We were homeless because there were no jobs. Many times there nothing to eat. I went to school with no shoes even in winter. My sister carried me on her shoulders putting my feet in her coat pockets.

Grandparents raised seven children during the Great Depression. From what she said about that time period, she said she wouldn't want to live through another one. Sounded pretty scary. Most folks today have never had to go through rough times like that and wouldn't know how to survive it if it happened again.

I was born in1950,things were just as bleak lived in two room farmhouse, no electricity, indoor plumbing, slept outside in summer and froze in winter, wind would sent dust through cracks on the walls.

I didn’t vote, but when Trump was in office I was thriving financially. I currently live off credit cards to make it every two weeks and I technically reside in the top 90% of earners my age. The last few years have been devastating to everyone I know. Inflation over the last four years has destroyed the buying power of the middle class.

If your outgoings exceeds your income then you are not balancing your lifestyle but rather living in the hope that things will get better. Being in the top 90% of earners does not mean you need to live like that, living the lifestyle of a 60% earner would be just as gratifying. I understand that one’s standard of living is proportionate to their earnings but you don’t have to eat caviar everyday just because your earnings dictates that you should. Don’t live up to the Jones’ let them live up to you.
@ I make six figures. I was living fine before hyperinflation. I hardly buy anything. All of my expenses are paying bills and for my family. My friends say I’m cheap because I refuse to buy new things.
