It’s insane how much influence Artis Opus and GrimdarkCompendium have had over the hobby in the last couple years for the betterment of miniature painters everywhere
100%. It’s made painting a lot more fun, quicker and much more interesting than the HM approach which is pretty boring to do and whilst some people can make it look amazing, for most it looks crap up close
A quick video editing tip: In order to avoid "banding" from occuring on your background, (whether its' a solid or gradient), apply a slight amount of noise to the footage. Again, a SLIGHT amount of noise is all that is needed, (anything less than 1% is good, such as .5%). What it does is trick the video compression into believing there is more detail present, and avoids the banding. I know, it sounds crazy. But, it does in fact work! I hope it helps you out. 😊😊😊
Not that anyone can or should go but a new paint range but for slap chop i personally think that the vallejo xpress colors are better. They are a good bit less opaque and dry a little smoother over flat surfaces so they are better for slap chop since they show the under painting of the dry brush more and i find that they particularly have better skin tones with dwarven skin being just a much better gulliman flesh
These look look incredible! Id love to see your take on some gloomspite gitz. People usually paint them super colorful and cartoony but in the lore they're terrifying cave dwellers
amazing as always. Would love to see your take on the green warpsmoke effect for the skaven. Or just smoke and flames in general for a video would be great too. I've been enjoying many of the misc type video like the leather and skin vidoes.
Regarding the skin issue you had, I've had a lot more success doing the slapchop style going from Brown to Bone rather than Black to White. It seems like skin is something that just never looks quite right for me tonally with blacks and greys used. It takes colors like yellows, reds, browns, greens or pinks much better and really only does worse for blue and actual black. Blues hardly a classic grimdark color so unless you're doing black power armor grimdark it may be worth giving it a go. Ive never used enamel or oil over the top but a second coat after the contrasts with Nuln Oil Gloss (or the Brown Gloss) has worked out quite well to bring those normally cartoony contrast colors quite down. Looking forward to trying it out on some Warcry!
These lads look great! When doing hordes, gotta balance that speed/detail so you dont go insane, haha. I've love for you to take a shot at some the new Cities of Sigmar humans. I'm trying to figure out how to do a Raven themed city with a Bloodborne vibe. You do such great work, I'd be thrilled to see your take on the concept.
Hey man. I love your work. I've been debating about AOS4 but I honestly can't find the Seraphon in a style I like. But I like your style. Anyway we can see a Grimdark Dinosaur boy?
Thanks man. Glad u like. Definitely recommend the second skin option as it looks better. Jaha yes a few people say that. I believe we live close to each other. He has a more thicker barnsley accent which is 10mins away from me haha
Looking to see how NEWSH holds up against the classic enamels.. as ive literally just ordered a jar of goons grime to try as well 😅 much grim yes! yes!
Been using enamels for a while, but have never used them through my airbrush. Not sure what the cleaning is like - any chance of a follow up in relation to clean up of enamels when using an air brush?
Hay man. Check out the resources page. Urll deffo find some great tips! I use mineral spirits to make them more matt, some are designed to be a more satin finish
@@TheFeralPainter yea I’ve looked. I do all mine with minerals as well. Reddit posts seem to have some same issue. With the pigments not mixing great. Have had mine since batch 1.
Fair point, however when thinking about it. We use them in the same way we do acrylics. Just mineral spirits rather than water. And has fab working time
I like your channel but i wish you werent using ai for the channel icon. Why not use one of the great models you painted? (edit: this youtuber's thumbnail is clearly ai. Very disappointing)

Came for the excellent video, didnt expect to see this in the comments 🥰! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏

Ya my no-airbrush, barbarian ass can wrap my mind around this stuff 😅
I like that you don't focus on army painting - there is a tone of youtubers out there that do that. Either way, great video. 👍🏻
Thanks 🤩
Its good to know that you can paint over the oil paints without issue - i was trying to figure it out before doing a whole unit!
I guess you could yes
@@TheFeralPainter you could. but its always best to use a matte/satin varnish before doing so.
Really wish Krautcover was more available in north america! Looks great!
Maybe one day!

Thanks for the info!
As usual, you made them look amazing. I'm really liking the new AOS miniatures, and your painting style suits them perfectly. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like them!
Two videos in as many days?
We are blessed
Your welcome

It is always a struggle to decide if I want to speed paint those clanrats. They are just a chaff yet I love these lil boys 😢
Thanks man

I will have to give this a shot with my Mordheim warband! Looks excellent 👍

Beautiful work will definitely copy this scheme to a tee! Also you sound like Geek Gaming scenics when he used to make vids !

The BELL, ring-sound it, yes-yes!
Ring ring
Amazing to watch as always !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing, great video as always
Thanks for watching!
"Clanrats" is one word. Maybe you can still edit the title of the video so more people will find it. Definitely worth the watch for army painting!
Thanks for the heads up yea i can edit
How would you feel about demonstrating the use of real fur or cloth on one or two of those stormcast?
It’s something i will do in the future
Amazing! Getting ready to paint some rats and it's really sad that those paints are really hard to get here =(
Wondet what alternatives you could try
BIG DOG, What you have in the kitchen cookin'? Any chance of a Rat Ogre GRIMDEEEEEEEZZZZY Style?
Next video 😉

Just treat like acrylics, thin with mineral spirits and clean with mineral spirits, you should be good 😉
I hate rats but your simple but effective painting makes me wanna buy sigmar 4.0 box.
Do it (palpatines voice)
I LOVE TO GOON
One of the rats should be called a Splinter and four turtles should be moved to the base
Amazing
Wow!!!
Cheers
Hey there. Had a question about Villainy Inks. After mine dries it looks extremely glossy. You have any thoughts on this at all?

Gooning around
Is most of the underside black with little to no dry brush? Great video btw!
Thanks and yes
right on
Thsnks
I got to get me some villainy inks
Yourl love them
Did you start with a black or zenithal primer? Great job btw!
Just a black for the contrast. Ans the other was a zenathol
One might even say you’re goofing and slapping.
Hell yer
Commending the villainy inks for their ease of use seems a little disingenuous in a video directed mostly at beginners. Other than that, great video!
