My first car was a 1983 Golf GTI. I still think about it and how much fun and adventures I had with that car. This MK2 GTI was made in the years 1987 till 1992 and they where real fun to own and drive. Good job and cheers.
Is this car a german import? It looks exactly like they used to drive around here in the nineties with the bbs rims an those recaro seats. Oh man, what a classic car 😙👌
I've seen a lot of weird random vw imports from the mid 80s on. For example a buddy of mine had a 84 jetty. Only lap belts in the front. I've also seen a few with really cool factory add ons. Like refrigerated center consoles. My mk5 gti for example has xenon headlights with headlight sprayers. I'm sure it's all the people that really were into vws and not generic buys. But it's always entertaining.
Great work! I think it's a 1990 car. Looks like how alot of the cars looked like in Europe - Big bumpers, BBS RS wheels, single crystal clear cross hair headlights, debadged grill. Brings back so many good memories... I'd love to have one!
The big bumper model came out in Europe late 1989, I had one in Helios blue and 15” bbs, the recaros were an expensive option, not many Gti, s had them.
@wd detailing one of the best cars I owe, love the video,so glad u did this car. Car to me personally not just cars its freedom, memories and so much more than just peace of metal .
I had a 91 8V in Tornado red.. first car I ever bought with my own money in 93. I still dream about it every once in a while. Always the same dream.. I just happen to find it somewhere and get all excited it’s mine again. Then I wake up. I miss that car so much. For my 50th, next year, I’m getting one. This is the car of my youth.
No not a rallye. The rallye had square box wheel archs and rectangular headlamps in a three slat grille and was never available with the G limited 16v G60. Its a late mk2 GTi with a 1.8 16v KR engine. You're right in there being a 16v G60 but that was in the G Limited golf, which was a mk2 but only in a 5 door shell and was an 89 model year with small bumpers. Had a blue trim around the grille instead of red. Hope that clears things a little! 😄
I can’t even begin to describe the amount of drool leaking from my mouth while looking at this mk2. Those OG Recaros are minty af, and the bbs looks flawless. It’s literally identical to the build I have in my head for when I find one for the right price. Only difference is I want to go with a full voomeran flare/lip/wing kit, a black leather/carbon fiber BBS steering wheel, and black leather/carbon fiber trim interior. I have a ‘14 Tiguan that I have a lot of work into, and the goal is to be towing a matching “Deep Black Pearl” mk2, on a matching “DBP” trailer, with triple chrome bbs RS on the mk2, and matching bbs RS on the trailer 🤤🖤
Year of manufacture would be 1990-1991. I had one in 1991, shared it with my younger brother. What an awesome car. It drove fantastically, best hot hatch of the time. The 16v DOHC engine just went on and on. The 8v was very good too. I miss it very much.
Beautiful! Doesn’t get better than a MK2 GTI!! I’m on my second MK2 now, I had an 85’ GTI 8valve on Momo wheels, neuspeed suspension was such a clean car I regretfully sold it. Finally found another one it’s an 86’ GTI and it’s getting restored at the moment and sprayed Tornado red which is my dream I’ve always wanted a tornado red MK2 GTI!! It will be getting VR6 swapped as well!!!
The last GOLF GTI, so beautiful ,so simple , so good to drive. Uh … i miss my GTI 16v 139 Hp. I change about 30 cars since then and this is the only car in my heart. Great job man
I couldn't begin to guess what year but Volkswagen has a reputation for dependability. I think anyone would want one, I'm not surprised by the reactions you received from your posts. Your doing a great job bringing your barn find back to life. Thanks for sharing.
MKII's were the best in my opinion. They had the MKI enhanced looks and the build quality was really good. My 92 GLi was just a dream and felt like a more expensive car with the Recaros BBS wheels etc.I really wish I had that car today.
I got this car as my first car, I bought it as a track build, and it just needed some love. The last owner treated it like a track only, so it wasn't in the best condition. It had dents all over, and I recently fixed the right front fender cuz it was dented in so bad and rust formed. I had some mess ups on repairs like a tire falling off in a test run and bumping into my mom's car but other tan all of that, the engine is a beast, I don't know how many times I got close to redlining it and it still runs like nothing happened. This car is so much fun to drive. You can throw it in any direction, and it'll just take it, making sway bars almost an option
Hi WD Detailing I love your channel and I love all of your car detailing Videos and I love all of your car detailing transformations:) I love your camera:)
Car looks amazing, maybe biased as i drive a mk2 gti myself!!! Think it's a 1991 year? I'm from the uk and last year of manufacture here was 1992. I've owned mine for 20yrs & still daily drive it. Excellent job on the detail guys. Would like to know what product you use on the engine bay 👍👍👍
I had an ‘87 golf in college. 5 spd, no power steering (as in didn’t come with it), roll windows and a hand crank sunroof. It was dark grey and my friends called it U-571 after the German submarine lol. I bought it for $600 from my neighbor. Was a rock solid car, super reliable and pretty quick even as a regular golf and not being a GTI. Now I own a dark grey ‘23 GTI 40th anniversary edition : )
What is your favorite VW of all time? 👀
My wife has our favourites, Mk2 country syncro riding on Ronals and a mk5 GTI completely standard.
Corrado
Ford Explorer II
Either the MK2 or a split window bug
Jetta
This car is the unicorn in the vw world.. One of vw best engines of all time
who asked?
@@v1nc0n300 your mum ;-)
Yes , it's True, i have a golf 16s between 15 years..... it's à amazing car !

Why did he stop producing it and gave the 8 valves more life then?

And yes. Euro sized plate mounts. First key sign for being an imported model.
@@solisdruid8442 but it's got marker lights in the front wings, which wasn't a spec we have over hear in Europe, as we don't run them.
@@solisdruid8442 Every Mk2 golf tailgate had that size opening
I had an 85 GTI, bought it new when I graduated from college. That was a fun car to drive. Got me hooked on Vdubs !!!!

One of my favorite car's
As much as I love a VR6 swap in these, that 16v just hits right.
Good job here

Nice Flag on the inside mirror.
Beautiful midnight blue. Year 89. Not a big Volkswagen fan but the gti's are super sick. Amazing ride.
To see at last part of the clean real time is good. I also like the natural sound as opposed to tedious music.
Very beautiful 😍👍🏻
you really know how to treat a car nicely, so happy just looking what u did

Hey boet!
Personally I love the real time wash. And as far as year I think it maybe the 91-92.
Seeing MK2 and MK1 Golfs in that condition genuinly upsets me. Coolest car ever made.

Always was a Golf hatchback fan. Especially the late 80s and early 90 GTIs. Nice work fellas. Can't wait for part 2. I think that VW is a 91.
Im a JDM finatic but this car is sweet this body style has a special place in my heart
