If anyone’s trying to look up the lyrics for this, It took me a while so I’ll save you the time. Meredith D’Ambrosio wrote these vocalese lyrics, and she calls the song Beloved. But even she records this slightly slower than Alba does it!

What a tour de force by Alba; this song is nigh unsingeable. Yet she pulls it off and she does it with panache. The limits to this girl's talent cannot yet be estimated, but she is another force of nature emerging from the band. And we'll be able to say: "l knew her when she was knee high to a grasshopper".

This is a beautiful interpretation of Clifford Brown’s Daahoud. I love the sax solos and scats. Alba is so talented; she is really showcasing all her skill sets. Thank you Joan for sharing and developing these young musicians. I always enjoy listening and smiling while be bopping to the groove. The brass section isn’t missing a beat. Bravo!

It's easy to see, with her versions of "Meditation," "Nobody Else But Me" and now this, how she is gaining confidence and skills as a singer. I'm keeping a close eye on her and Joana Casanova, who also has a bright future as a singer.
@@garryberman894 Quite wonderful to see isn' t it? , Undoubtedly she realizes that she's improving herself which must be a great motivator.. not just for her but for all those she plays and studies with. And I' m a firm believer in the fact that if you keep youngsters motivated and having fun you' d be surprised at the heights they can reach. Couple this with a great teaching program using arguably the best ' textbooks' available in listening to and emulating the true greats of Jazz and being able to perform with some outstanding musicians. And this is what you get, Music is a language... All of them are fluent, some of them will turn out eloquent, some prosaic, and some will live " the dream where the contents are visible Where the poetic champions compose". But they' ll never ever lose their love of music, which will enrich their lives. I just hope they' ll keep enriching ours.. past, present, and future.

And if the guy who has been teaching you for 10 years or so, and who' s never let you down, believes you can do it .. You believe you can also. Having said that I still would not mind if Alba " Sings me a swing song" like she did 9 years ago, it would be interesting.

I was surprized to see a new video of Alba Armengou. She is really great again! Fantastic, how she performs this rather difficult song completely flawless! I admire her! She deserves to become world famous. Funny to see the little compliment, she gets from Dick Oatts with that little thumb up. It's great. Fantastic saxophone solos. I'm the biggest fan of Alba Almengou in The Netherlands, without doubt! Thanks for this great video. I enjoyed it!

After lamenting the departure of the A-Team scat singers, I saw Alba picking up the guidon at an outdoors concert. Here she plants it firmly. Marçal certainly deserves highlighted billing. As a man of (often too many) words, I will point out that flashy, showpiece numbers such as this (and especially "I Feel Pretty") showcase the laudable talents of everyone involved -- except the lyricist. No room for nuance.

Don't look at the socials but if it's the case, wish them very well in the future. Alba to me has a serene natural beauty, really lovely young lady with genuine poise as most of these young people have, very relaxed on stage. I think my favorite of her's was Trieste, with black Tee shirt and backup of Andrea, Elia and Rita in Heavenly Harmony - The great Luigi and Enrique guests on sax. Jan's piano solo also a highlight. The great Tom Jobim must have smiled down on that one, absolute perfection.

Alba keeps getting better and better, and I think she might catch up to Andrea eventually. And that's a tall order! This is not an easy melody to sing, but she really nails it. Yes, Joana changes her hair mid-song, following a long SAJB tradition. I've seen Alba do it, and Rita as well. Maybe that makes you a better performer? Anyhow, thanks to Alba, Marçal, Carla, Joan, and the rest of the band for a splendid performance!
I agree with how she keeps getting better and better. I almost hate to say it, but the diverse range of voices that Joan has had in his band over the last few years has made Andrea sound rather plain to me. I'm still okay with her trumpet, but I'd rather hear Alba, Rita, or Elia or even Abril sing.

Here is a little-known video of her singing a tune that I don't think any of the other SAJB singers could pull off: th-cam.com/video/I-Yd91oIP9w/w-d-xo.html It's not one of the great all-time songs, but it is amazingly technically demanding. I can see Alba doing this in a couple more years. But I'd be surprised if the others, with the possible exception of Elia, could do it. As far as Andrea's trumpet playing, I'm definitely in the minority, but I would rather hear Andrea play the sax than the trumpet. Her version of "All Too Soon" is for the ages. (I guess that's why it has 1.1 million views!)

Joana appears in two hair styles ;) But (but!) - it's great! The sax section, lead by Joan Marti, starts with a great intro, Carla supports the head phrase (probably more), Marcal shows off in a fabulous solo and duet with Dick Oatts, and they all are HOT AS HELL! Notably Alba, turning up the notch once more after her recent CD and solos like Nobody Else But Me! Way to go!!

I was listening to the original, and the tempo of Alba's version is right in between Clifford Brown's and Meredith's versions.
It is impressive how quickly these youngsters develop into accomplished artists.

It seems that Alba only gets to sing the most difficult songs in SAJB. And she definitively passes the audition.
