It's funny how Julie and Gordon's relationship is basically "Minus and Minus equals Plus". Gordon finally found someone who is willing to partake in his evil shenanigans, and Julie's strong attitude surpasses Gideon's manipulative tendencies and ego, putting him in his place. They basically supress each other's toxicity and turn what would otherwise be a disastrous relationship into an awesome villain couple.

Gideon's big bad plan was to blow up a stage with dynamite because Matthew beat him in a fight. They're kinda just caricatures of themselves. Fuck that other guy for saying you didn't read the comics, if you actually read them this shouldn't strike you as a good adaptation of the source material. Sad part is this was done with Brian's input so I guess there's no hope to kinda recapture that flash in the pan even when the series creator is involved.

I always imagined it being like a weirdass, healthy couple or friendship relationship that worked because of how toxic the pair are. Very much pleased to see I was correct about that.
Honestly I am half convinced that the only reason why Gordon decided to go back to being evil is just because that is what Julie thinks that is hot, like he only said that he was actually plotting stuff was when she said that she did kinda think he was a looser with how he was being. They definitely are proof that love comes on many different forms.
Same, aint no way his elaborate masterplan was to blow up Matthew with TNT just like that. That's some Minecraft level revenge, some Bugs Bunny villian level type of plan. He cooked that up on the spot.
That interpretation really makes the ending even more of a clean conclusion then what we already get, whether or not we get a season 2. Gideon/Gordon and Julie don't have an advanced plan or conspiracy, they're just cartoon villains now that'll do crazy things once a week or so before going back to the drawing board once they're foiled. Rinse and repeat. It simultaneously closes all major story beats while ensuring more adventures are to be had.

So seeing the movie after, I couldn’t help but laugh at the thought of how two unlikely people ended up together. But these two are extremely cute here! Both crazy and ‘evil’. But He devotes his love and misses her like crazy. The way that his eyes shined for a brief moment the very second she could recall him. While she is unashamed in proclaiming out loud just how much she loves him also!

Man i love this series so much, this was the best idea to make Gideon Graves and Julie Powers a romantic couple. These 2 actually complete each other, perfect romace.
I am so conflicted wether or not i should be excited that Takes Off may / may not continue. On the one hand, it would be cool to see Gideon & Julie discovering and learning how to weaponise ”The Glow” together. On the other hand, I _genuinely_ don’t want Gideon attempting to Mr. Freeze Julie in the foreseeable future. (even though it was explicitly implied he had attempted such a thing on other girls, in the Virtual Boy segment)
