Bukovina (Romanian Bucovina, Ukrainian Bukovyna, German Bukowina) was settled by Romanians (Moldavians) and Ukrainians (Ruthenians). It became an integral part of the principality of Moldavia in the 14th century, having the capital at Suceava. Bukovina became part of Austria in 1775 - it was ceded by the Turks, who then controlled Moldavia.
